our local academies, the nff u13 programme and the recent push for foreign born players are the future stronghold of the super eagles. the current npfl is just there and have minimal importance to the growth of the super eagles.

I just watched the goals and highlights of europa league between redbull leipzig abd redbull salzburg

Some goalkeepers are really cats and brave...i wonder if Ezenwa and Akpeyi can make such daring saves...

Okonkwo, Osigwe Get Different Strokes In Nigeria Switch

By Editor - September 21, 2018

It has turned into a case of different strokes for two youthful goalkeepers, as Arsenal of England’s Arthur Okonkwo appears closer to getting a call up by Nigeria, but same cannot be said about SC Kriens of Switzerland’s Sebastian Osigwe.

While Osigwe has been rated very low in pulling off a switch from Switzerland to Nigeria at senior level, Okonkwo footablllive.ng gathered that will be a part of the Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations next year.

Okonkwo is already an England under-17 international, but Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are eager to give him an accelerated promotion to under-20 level under Coach Paul Aigbogun.

The Arsenal under-18 team’s first choice in goal has already been officially approached by the NFF over a possible switch of allegiance, which has been backed by Aigbogun, who is British citizen.

However, while Oknokwo is now expected to give his consent to the NFF’s offer before this year runs out, Osigwe is not any closer to a call up to the Super Eagles, than he was when he made his intentions known before the World Cup.

Although Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr earlier declared that he is ready to invitee Osigwe, latest feelers indicate that he youngster will not be part of Nigeria’s immediate plans in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The former Flying Eagles invitee has kept goal in the six games his team have played so far in the Swiss second division this term, and are currently in 7th position, but he does not have a single clean sheet to his name and is not under consideration for the Eagles.

However, it was gathered that Rohr is keeping options open in the future for the Switzerland-born goalkeeper, who was in top form for Kriens in helping them get promotion to the second division.

bros one thing you will understand in football business or all sports in general is when scouts sees a genuine talent they can do what ever it takes or even more to get them for the clubs they represent.

do you know of late that our local academy players moves to decent and better clubs in europe than our npfl players? do you know that almost 60% or even more of present super eagles team are players that were plugged from academies in nigeria?

do you know the major reason odey got a chance with fc zurich is because he was just 19-20yrs old when he signed for them and it wouldn't have been possible if he was above that age bracket?

foreign clubs prefers to invest in younger players who they can polish and sell in the nearest future to make better profit than investing on a player who have been in the local scene for almost 5 seasons and still claim to be 19yrs old hahahahahahahaha

The harsh reality of the football business is age is a major determinant of OPPORTUNITY.

As a result the motivation to shave a few years of your age will NEVER END.

Also it's much more difficult to substantiate the age of academy players even comparative to NPFL players who have had to register and are in the public eye.

Unfortunately Europe and the business of football created this problem. I know a number of Guinea Bissau players who are now playing in top 5 leagues in Europe but have shared 3/4 and more years of thier age.

As much as I dont like Iorfa and his dad's earlier gimmicks, I still like that boy and I expected a lot from him. What the heck is going on wt Dom? He doesn't even have a squad number and no club looked his way this past window. Imagine a half fit Odubajo was able to land a job. Even Phil Owusu Aye who was frozen out same time as Dom, was able to leave Wolves for a German club while my Idoma boy is still stuck in there, playing for neither the first team nor the reserves. It is painful

There were not any gimmicks, he was straight forward.

When you are able England U21 talked about as a potential England senior player. You must be wise otherwise you mess up your football career.

He got injured and only played half the season for Ipswich under Mick McCarthey the personification if the Kick , Rush and Dye football. I couldn't understand why his agents let him go to Ipswich big mistake.

Admittedly he got frozen out at Wolves very late in the day but still very poor choice.

As good as Ryan Ssegnon is take him to Rochdale Bolton and that's his top flight career over.

You must look at the club that can give you progression, development and progression. Not just the short term £££.

Why do you think Dele Alli, Gomez, Ademola, were able to progress so well.

His associate agent is actually a former Nigerian international who played many years ago in the EPL.

Now he is in limbo in club essentially owned and run by Mendes. With more Portuguese players than Benfica and Porto.

So who do we blame for his predicament? Also, do u think we should help him revive his career by inviting him to the Super Eagles?

I never made that assumption. Did I not say there is no perfect society anywhere? YOU CANNOT 100% STAMP OUT CORRUPTION IN ANY SYSTEM CONTROLED BY HUMANS!

If you find yourself in any system, you just try as much as possible to play your role and pass over to next man who may not do justice as much as you have done from your own part. But what can you do?

We know there is corruption in the NFF, we also know there are some elements of corruption in the Super Eagles coaching crew. But like I said it is everywhere in the world. You cannot sit and what you do all day is accuse the NFF and Nigeria of being corrupt. The only thing a player can do is to beat the system. If you are exceptional u do not need to give bribes to any coach for you to be invited because every coach wants to achieve results. This is the same mindset those of us that are courageous enough to remain in Nigeria and earn a living have developed. Man -no- Man or not you can still beat the system and achieve your set goals and target.

Agreed you have to have the thick acid defying skin of a crocodile and the heart of a Lion.

And plenty binding and casting because it's only God that can preserve you.

The number of excellent players who dir not make it because if corruption are simply uncountable. I am noy about Nigeria but England.

You think it's only Nigeria the difference corruption is very clandestine, hidden and subtle here it's rife.

Like you said your approach is not scientific yet you are always so quick to down play the success rate of the MRI.

So which is now more reliable? Your crude unscientific method or a scientificically proven method with accuracy result of about 90%? Huh?

None of the above.

All are indicative because there are always exceptions to the rule. But the motivation for age cheating is VERY HIGH because the rewards are almost immeasurable.

It's just that in developed countries and or countries with Automatic Birth Data capture it's impossible to change your age.

Now some countries are border line like some S.American e.g. Brazil and I can't prove and I may be wrong but that COSTA age get as he be.

SE can not boost your career without TOP LEVEL PERFORMANCE At this stage it will get you noticed if you perform.

SE only works for those that perform.

See Ekong and Balogun, Ebuehi, Musa has gone to chop real oil money.

But the SE hasn't helped KC or Onazi or Obi Joel.

So why have u been insulting the coaching crew for not inviting him even though he hasn't been having that top level performance u just talked about ever since he finally changed his mind to repp the Eagles? Remember last season he was either frozen out, injured or returning from injury hence was not on top of his game, while this season, he is almost clubless?

With regards to his career this dude was killing it from age 17 winning MOTM in the Championship. He was on the ascendancy a stand out player for Wolves at the end of 2016 /17 he had played near 100 games for Wolves over three seasons.

It's hard buwy I blame him and his agents. Mendes was investigater by the EPL for breach of the rules.

It was clear what was happening to everybody. He felt that he would still be in the plans of the club I guess he felt that he was secure.

You can't just go from top player to, " Don't come near the club and or training ground in a few months "

With regards to the SE, he is not playing and that's not exactly right.

He needs to do Night vigil at MFM and see if he can break through and get a game. One good game for Wolves and it will be difficult to bench him. The politics of discrimination and the bad publicity will make it impossible for them keep him on the bench.

He needs one chance but he must take it like a LION.

You just jumped out of nowhere and started quoting every post on Moses...

Modified..
Moses was never fully committed to the national team..everybody knows that.. He was always skipping game with different excuses and when he is available,he is late to camp.. In his 6 year with the national team he didn't make up to 40 appearance and most of it came in competitive games...
His contribution to our afcon winning squad was massive no doubt but was he the only one? what about Mikel? Enyeama? Mba? Emenike? Onazi?
His decision to retire from the national team at such an early age with no proof of a rift or discomfort between him and the NFF show that he was no longer interested in the team..

Let him enjoy his retirement on the Chelsea bench in peace .
Yea your one of the Nairalanders that where bashing Moses every move he made during the World Cup. Always on his neck. Even though he performed better than a lot of the players you were still looking for a way to complain about him.

I don't condone that kind of behaviour either.

This guy has been a committed top class consistent performer for the SE over the past few years.

In a place now integrity and honour they should really be engaging with him to discover. Why such an outstanding player who us only 27 should be talking of retirement when he has at least 5 years to play for the SE.

But no there has been silence .

Bro, I just tire oo..
Moses was actually being pampered in the national team.. Not many coaches would have tolerated his habit of pulling out of games and arriving late to camp like our past coaches did.. I remember when Mikel was suspended from the national team at one time for that kind of behavior..
There was no issue or hint of a rift between him and the NFF or his teammates.
