It is common for Edo people to bear Yoruba names. It does not mean they speak yoruba or have any yoruba relation.

I am from Edo and one of my names is yoruba but my language is far from yoruba. I do not have any Yoruba relation.

you disagree with an indigene of Edo state?

I have met with Edo people that have Yoruba names and don't speak the language, it is actually normal for them.

That is it. ITK people. They will want to teach you about your own ethnic group. They will go and pick up one skewed write-up from some where and start commenting what they know little or nothing about.

I have so many Edo friends that bear Yoruba names but are not Yorubas, though most of them that I know speak Yoruba. They are mostly from Edo North (Afemai) I also know an Esan(Edo Central) man that bears a Yoruba name.

I disagree.

Two assists in the WC speaks a lot of his quality.

How many did Ighalo have?

Yes, Moses was a major attacking force in the SE. But all of a sudden he choses to retire prematurely. Yet some peeps here will not let him be. We will miss him but we can always move on please.
Chief you are right we just have to accept his decision but some comments here on Moses just damn not good.

It seems we forget things easily and funny enough some see his retirement as a plus.

Comparing what is not comparable.

I checked Moses profile honestly he had awesome times with eagles.

As you said we need to move on.

Dalung Declares NFF Elections Illegal

The minister of youth and sports development Solomon Dalung has dissociated himself from Thursday’s Nigeria football federation elections.

Dalung described the election as illegal based on the Supreme Court ruling of April 27 which ordered that the case over leadership tussle in the NFF be relisted at the federal high court JOS.

Buhari why have you given us this kind of person as a Sports minister? Can't you fire him and save us all of these embarasments?

You talk as if anybody forced him into retirement.

Dude said he wants to retire and focus on his family is that one the fault of the Nigerian fans again?

....and engaging with him to discover what? '' Corruption''?

I expected a bit more maturity and deeper understanding from you.

In a family where there is love and someone decides to leave, do you just say goodbye and good riddance.

The silence from the NFF in itself says IT ALL.

Oga stop being sentimental about this. Victor is a player I also love and value so much his contributions to the national team. Since he willingly decided to face his '' family matters'' and stay out of the Super Eagles, do we go on our knees and beg him?

can't you get the signal as clear as it is? He is no longer committed to the national Team! He has lost interest in the GWG and therefore cannot make sacrifices for the team on the pitch. Such a player will no longer have flair. So it is better we give opportunity to up-coming players that are willing to give their all to the national team. Simple.

A deeper understanding of what? A person that has chosen to snub his country of birth to face his family matters?

I respect his decision. Since it seems he cannot combine being patriotic and facing his family matters, then he should better face his family matters because family comes first.

If after facing the family matters he still feels like coming back and we still see the need for him in the team, we will accept him back.

Goodness Ajayi (also a footballer) is his brother. Some Edo people have similar names with yorubas. And yes there is also a possibility one of his parents is Yoruba.

Icon4s:

His full name is Success Ajayi Isaac.

Born in Benin City, Yes. But I doubt he is Yoruba because hardly do Yorubas bear a name like Success. They may bear Isaac though. They hardly even bear two English names.
They typically always want at least one of their native names to appear to show their roots. Eg: he would have been Success Ajayi or Ajayi Isaac. Seems one of Success' parent is Yoruba though. Not sure either cos Akoko-Edo part of Edo state bear Yoruba names too.

4 goals in 31 matches with 2 assists at the world cup does not show he is a world beater. Without the crowning moment of the AFCON and golden boot he would be considered less than Ighalo who dominated a premier league that Emenike flopped in.

Emenike will be remembered forever in the folklore of Nigerian football because of the 2013 AFCON and so will Sunday Mba which actually is my point.

You are welcome. In this post, I bet you Sunday Mba who scored in the final match on a Sunday is more of a folklore than Emenike. Sometimes just one action can make someone more popular that others...I still remember Ogbeche s bycleta before the world cup than Aghahowa world cup goal
