TheSuperNerd: O boy you know Mali and Guinea are ahead of Ghana right now on the U17 Ranking index? Do you recall the last time Ghana won the U17 WC? 1995. And may I point out that since the introduction of this New CAF U17 format Ghana has won it only once which waS the inaugural edition of the New format in 1995 when they beat Nigeria 3-1 in the final. In fact the last two times they qualified for the FIFA U17 WC were in 2007 and 2017. Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso and even Gambia have done better than Ghana at this age level in the recent years. Mali in particular are back to back CAF U17 Champions, finishing 2nd and 4th respectively in the last two U17 WC. And Senegal i know have not had it as good as its West Africa neighbours but we know they have ben performing well lately at the U20 (finishing 2nd back to back in 2015 and 2017) and U23 age grade levels. I cant even recall any edition of the CAF U17 that Senegal has taken part it in. But I think this is their break out generation of U17 players. I followed the Zonal qualifiers too. I even saw clips of how Uganda beat Amuneke led Tanzania team 3-1 in the East African semis (Amuneke supervises all Tanzanian teams at all levels) I also followed the Zone A qualifiers. Look at the bolded results of the Senegalese, not conceding a single goal. It simply means that they have a very tight defense. Guinea eliminated Mali 2-1 in the semis and I was expecting a very close game between Senegal and Guinea in the final, but see the white wash and agian without considering any goal. The only reason I will rate the Nigerian Egalets higher than the Senegalese team going into the CAF U17 is because of the rich pedigree we have at this level. But going by results of the Zonal qualifiers we have every reason to be scared of those Senegalese boys. 1 Like |

Eze was his impressive self once again today for QPR even though he was played out of position. Etebo balled real good though they lost at home. Moses Odubajo made Brentford's bench for the first time. Ajayi was OK for his team as a Centre back though they lost away. My best in the championship today goes to Tomori, he was excellent and helped Derby get the three points. One hard truth I must tell u guys here, is that Stoke is in the championship to stay. Not convincing at all. Always getting whipped by the worst teams in the league. 3 Likes |

charlesemeka85: Oh yea, thats what I admire most in him. The prospect of him and Chukwueze growing to battle for that Eagles RW with Kalu and others is awesome. If they(Chuks/Ojo) maintain their growth and do well for their respective teams before our SA match, then, I will be tipping one of them as a back up to Kalu in the FNB stadium. |

Well, going by that index, Nigeria were also not at the last U-17 Afcon nor even the WC yet we are rated and respected at this level. Same goes for Ghana. They are ahead of Mali and Guinea at this level. And Guinea neat Mali via penalties. It ended 2-2. Followed that game. Senegal has a nice U-17 side but I insist that they won't beat Ghana and won't have it easy against CIV based on the quality I saw in both zones A and B of the Wafu Zone. See ehn... Cameroon too will be at the U-17 Afcon going via their easy route thru the central zone. You think Senegal will just have it easy against the camerounian lads? Or is it Morocco from the North? There is nothing to be much scared about in Senegal. I even dare say they would have possibly failed to make it in Zone B. Zone B was that strong. Icon4s: 2 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: No, the index is not drawn just from the last edition, though the most recent editions carry more weight and diminishes with earlier editions. I think 3-4 last editions are used for the calculation and this will also be the basis for seeding of teams into groups. On the Mali-Guinea result I may have gotten it mixed up. Sorry about that. But belive it or not Senegal are very strong contenders. Nothing is certain but they look like a team that can make it through to the WC. Having to topple a zone that has both Mali and Guinea is no mean fit. And more so by winning 4-0 in the final! Just watch out for them. Again the only reason I may rate Nigeria higher is our Pedigree at this age level. |

Lol one thing funny but great about Osimhen is that he was actually brought on loan as a back-up to Jeremy Perbet (chaleroi's main striker), but, after few rounds of matches, he relegated Perbet to the bench, and in the 90th minute Perbet was brought on for Osimhen to see out the match that Osimhen got rave reviews, Lol instead of the Jeremie boy to try convince the coach that he still got it, he rather hurriedly got himself sent off few seconds into his introduction. To me, this is called nailing ur own coffin with ur own woods, hammer and nails by urself. He just cemented Osimhen's place as Sporting Cheloroi's first choice front man KPOM!!! Now, Osimhen the jury is out on U. Prove us ur ardent supporters right mbok 6 Likes |

I know the index is not limited to last edition. I am just making the point from a most recent performance point of view but I get you. In all, we both know Ghana will always be more feared and respected at U-17 level compared to Senegal, Guinea or Mali. Also, their present side had very good talents including their number 8 who was guilty of missing three pens at the Wafu B zone qualifiers. The lad is talented but his penalty taking is horrible. He's still a kid shaa... And ofcos Dad, Senegal will be contenders. And I expect them to qualify for the WC naa. Africa will present Four teams. All Senegal gotta do is make it out of the group and into the semis. As a West African team, I expect them to pull through. But that trophy will likely be won by the Manu Boys or the boys from Morocco. I consider Senegal my third choice based on what I saw from the qualifiers. Teams like Angola, Cameroon, etc are expected to make some improvements between now and May 2019 shaa.. so as usual, time will tell. Icon4s: 2 Likes |
