If Seyi Ojo can prove to be as good or better than the RWs we have on ground (thank God, Kalu is in the same ligue 1), he will be invited regardless of this declaration. Rohr no get conscience ni? 2 Likes |

tbaba1234: I agree with you, Otigba should have been called as at that time. Where I beg to differ is when we speak against players openly declaring for us with the argument that we will value them less if they do so If you are good, you are good; No be go come |

tbaba1234: Story, same Balogun I read his interview when he said if he got an invite from Nigeria, that he would pack his bags the next night jump from Germany via Spain to Morocco? So what about Hope Akpan, Ikeme and Anichebe? About Otigba, we all know whose fault it is and what excuse do u have to give for Dessers? Has he ever been as good as what we already had/have? U said sometimes when a player publicy declare...I ask again, who were/are these players we ignored? Were/are they good enough? Bar Otigba who Keshi overlooked for his own selfish interest, who else can u mention? Maybe with time u na go still add Derik Osede, Ekpolo et al to the list of ignored guys. So u wan tell me say, we go now ignore a fantastic player like Ojo because he declared publicly? Abeggy jor 2 Likes 1 Share |

Clementoke: Our team is just overflowing with wingers... We already have three established wingers in Iwobi,Simeon and Musa (they are sure starters as long as they are fit cus they have earned it) Kalu and Onyekuru seem to have gotten the remaining spot for now... Maximum number of players we can invite for a game is 25.. The FB must be given their own fair chance to prove themselves... no preferential treatment... 2 Likes |

They should wait and prove themselves very well enough before they declare abi? My point is they shouldn’t even declare. Wait for the NFF to come calling. Keep your options open. Yes I said so ChrisKels: 1 Like 1 Share |

Joebie: I believe every coach has his preference... In truth not all foreign born players declared before they got called up but their invitation was largely due to d preference of the coaches in charge then.. Keshi for his own reason chose to ignore Otigba who was in form then but approached Balogun... Rohr is ignoring Dessers who is willing to play for us for some reasons we don't know.. Its not until these FB become exceptionally good before we hand them a call up...but its still up to the coach |

The way Rohr is handling this Foreign born issue makes me wonder the kind of abuse he would be getting if he was a local coach... |

Reading's Hope Akpan sets sight on reclaiming Nigerian roots Published in 23-04-2013 The young England-born midfielder’s career has been exciting till date and his desire is now to play for the national team of his parents' country of birth, the Super Eagles Reading midfielder and Premier League star Hope Akpan was moved to declare himself available for the Super Eagles—and Stephen Keshi’s revolution could take another major step forward with the inclusion of this exciting young talent. http://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/4078/exclusives/2013/04/23/3915555/readings-hope-akpan-sets-sight-on-reclaiming-nigerian-roots |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 10:21pm On Sep 23, 2018 |
My point is keep playing until u are called up. But before then, keep you preference close to your chest. And you are right about that. Coaches have preferences. Balogun would still have got called up by Keshi had he not declared 4 years earlier. Akpan as well. Its not the declaration that would attract a call up. The declaration could actually result in a delay, knowing the player is always available. But if a player is seemingly wanted by the other country or open to both, it makes the player more attractive. Simple psychological stuff. Danielnino00: |

Joebie: So according to ur first paragraph, we should invite unproven players just because they are willing to repp us? Dats what is called mediocrity glorification. Dude we aint that poor and shouldn't be overly desperate. Yes keep ur options open just like Danjuma and Ojo just did thats my point. 2 Likes |

My second paragraph explains my position clearly. I know you are intelligent enough to get my overall point. If you have not performed well enough, what is the point declaring? If you have performed well enough, shouldn’t your performance attract the coach? ChrisKels: |
