SLBM:I'm not insulting you, but you comment spews of Ignorance. What's Nigeria's defence budget? How much of that budget is re-current expenditure? How much is left for capital expenditure? The Nigerian Air Force in 2017 flew over 5623 missions in support of Nigeria's COIN operations, what was the operational cost of carrying out all that mission in 2017? You're spewing lots of emotions, no facts to back up anything. You post photos of Algeria and Egypt, do you know how much Algeria spends on defence? 10 billion dollars. Egypt spends 4 billion dollars, 1.3 billion in US aide not included, aid from the likes of Saudi Arabia not also included? In Uganda, you shared a photo of their SU-30, Ugandan pilots routinely bolt, go AWOL. Eritrean SU-27, 3rd hand aircrafts the Eritearans purchased. All of Chad's "1" MIG-29 have practically never flown. Zambia flying unmanned UAVs, really? Dude, you need to research more before going on a social media meltdown. 6 Likes |

The Nigerian Air Force is not fantastic, but with the meagre reasources available to the service every non-partisan fellow can see the Nigerian Air Force has done well. barineh: Bro, the Nigerian Air Force is in a better state than it ever was in the past few decades. The gym you are complaining about keeps personnel fit amongst other things. In case it didn’t cross your mind, the development of human fitness & capability is essential to flying the “modern aircrafts" you so much want– you can’t underestimate the need for physical fitness, so if you do not have fit, well trained, well catered for personnel who is going to fly your modern aircrafts? Would you rather have an overweight pilot getting into a fighter cockpit to fly and then the environment becomes uncomfortable, develops some kind of ailment or sickness while flying…..abi you think say na to drive 504 or gongoro? Would you rather have an unfit & obese personnel finding it difficult to move around ground equipment? Would you rather have an unfit personnel handling weapons? We can go on and on talking about the benefits of having a “gym” If you do not know, you just don’t acquire modern or any planes for that matter and for the sake of it without the needed support (human, structural etc), otherwise the planes will be grounded. Personnel welfare is just one key aspect to getting better results – the happier & fitter the personnel around his equipment, the better the results will be - its common sense and practice. And for those complaining about some stuff they see the NAF commissioning which are not “modern aircrafts”, FYI they are needed to support the entire system and be self-reliant, and for the guy talking about sewing machine factory, sorry to disappoint you, the NAF has a sewing factory for uniforms etc (fantastic idea…for those who know) I see a lot of ignorant comments on this thread, but hey…..everyman to his own, whatever floats your boat, but it helps to ask questions and think deeper. We just don’t criticize without understanding some underlying facts – do not let emotions overcloud your judgement. As stated earlier, the NAF is in a better state than it was decades ago and hopefully gets better equipped, well trained, with fitter personnel to handle “modern aircrafts” Have a good day and support our Armed Forces 2 Likes |

giles14: You should know better. You've been keen on saying the super tucsno is a propeller aircraft and it goes beyond that. The tucsno is what we need to prosecute these COIN in the North East. You have to go and read about the aircraft. The A-29 Super Tucano is an aircraft that the U.S. Air Force paid to develop precisely for partner countries that needed air support for their counter terrorism operations. The super tucano has wing-mounted machine guns, weapons integration with advanced surveillance and targeting pods, precision-guided bombs, and even air-to-air missiles. This makes it an excellent territorial defense and close support plane for low-budget air forces, as well as a surveillance asset with armed attack capability. The Brazilian Airforce uses it this way. for instance; alongside very advanced EMB-145 airborne radar and maritime patrol jet platforms..etc The super tucano as is own distinct capabilities- to carry it's own ISR and strike capabilities, which these 4th gen Jets wouldn't offer plus cost & maintenance. I think should do a little more research on the super tucano and NAF super tucano's contract. The whole $600M is not only for the 12 aircrafts alone, it comes with a whole lot of packages. |

giles14:Err Nigeria did not spend $600+ on a propeller Aircraft. The invoices from the US department of defense state that it was less than $500Million can we try to stay with the facts. |
