He is trying not to put the blame on one player and thereby demoralize the boy. However, if they practice all round penalty shooting frequently in training, Jones could have done better. He played the penalty just to get it on target on left side of the keeper, not necessarily to beat the goalkeeper. The keeper knowing he was up against a central defender who lacks shooting skills and goal scoring confidence, only needed to watch his leg.
