We were down by 1 with scores at Greece 56-55 Nigeria with less than 20 secs to go... But we rallied and Drew a foul and Edeferioka Elo kept her nerves and made her two FTs... And we held on for the last 3 secs or so and we are into the QF proper of the FIBA WWC.... But we need to watch it guys... Our performance in Q4 was poor overall and we need to up the ante in our shooting when in Q4 moments too... but thanks goodness we just edged it in the end. That is character shown again. Kudos to Oga Otis... Sir BascoVanVeli, you can now bring up the Chieftiancy title discussion... Now we can talk grin

Congrats D'TIGRESS!!! Another Super Feat attained!!! First African team in women's Basketball to make it into the QF proper of the FIBA WWC.... AND... First African team to win three straight games at FIBA WWC in history

Take a bow Girls!!!

They have been winning with defense. Reminds me of the old Detroit piston bad boys side. Hey maybe we should call them the bad girls lol. Anyways I hope this will make Nigerian ballers take man to man seriously and shun zone defense because then you can take advantage of your athletic abilities.

Hold on a bit on the Chieftiancy talk for Otis, Marvellous One, it's still going down over there in Spain, D'TIGRESS still leads but by 8 now... 39-31 Q3 less than 5mins to go to end of Quarter.

We win this we face USA... That's a given.

Meanwhile Otis' birthday was even yesterday I heard... Lol

Pardon me but when the heck did they start playing basketball in Belgium that they should be a seeded team? I am trying to name a Belgian player living or dead. They must have really improved.

I forsee the US winning although its not gonna be a walkover as many expect.

Good to see we are improving on aour defense in the paint though. What remains is defense beyond the arc because those US girls can really drain trees.

All-in all, it's gonna be a tight match

According to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team, England youth international defender Fikayo Tomori is among the players interested in switching allegiance to Nigeria.

After his impressive performance for English Championship side Derby County against Manchester United in their FA Cup win yesterday, Owngoalnigeria.com sort to hear from chieftains of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) about the chances of the defender who is on loan from Chelsea representing Nigeria.

We gathered the 20 year old who was a part of the English team that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup has similar chance of playing for Nigeria just like Seyi Ojo who recently voiced out his availability to switch allegiance to Nigeria at senior level if called up.

This season Tomori who is also eligible for Canada has grown in leaps and bounds under the guidance of coach Frank Lampard with the height of his fine display so far coming in the game against Manchester United, where he kept Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku quiet.

He has previously spent time on loan with two other Championship teams‎ in Brighton and Hove Albion when they were in the Championship two seasons ago and also Hull City last season with a combined total of 36 appearances to his name.

Club Brugge Dutch-Nigerian forward Arnaut Groeneveld Danjuma has been handed his first call up to the senior national team of the Netherlands after making their preliminary squad for their upcoming international engagements.

Danjuma made his U21 bow for the Dutch side but immediately after the game, he voiced out his availability to represent Nigeria if called up although he did say he will love to progress through the ranks with the Dutch team.

“The Dutch national team is my dream, but I also have the African culture in me. Who knows I may play for Nigeria, I would seriously think about it if they call me, but it would be a shame. Because I want to get to Oranje”, he said immediately after the game.

Reports monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com from several sources in the Netherlands confirmed he has been handed a first time call up to the senior national team putting an end to speculations about his international future.

He was named in a squad of 31 players called up by coach Ronald Koeman for the Nations Cup League game against Germany on the 13th of October and the friendly game against Belgium on the 16th of October.

If he gets to play against Germany, the 21 year old won’t be able to switch allegiance back to Nigeria as the Kaduna State born wing forward would have featured in a competitive fixture.

Exactly what I just said. The US girls have the best shooting efficinecy in the tournament, the highest PPG as well as the most free throws made. In summary, they are excellent shooters. However, we lead in total rebounds for the entire tournament thanks majorly to Evelyn. The US also leads in the total no of assists. So, we'll have to close them down from outside the arc to avoid them getting threes and close down spaces as well.

Let's see sha

I believe we (Liverpool) will loose today's game.

I don't think the Carabao cup is among Klopp's priorities and he might shirk from fielding any first 11 player

This is a fake news with the intentions of making the NFF to act fast. Though, I wouldn't feel bad if we missed out on him, that position is filled to the brim with better players, though I learnt Rohr wanna use him as a striker.

That said, Rohr remains what and who he is, a clueless opportunist who has come down here to destroy our darling Eagles. Just imagine who he is eyeing for a recall, Ujah of all strikers.

Hahahahaha funny man. I have seen Danjuma in action several times, he aint better than what we have already. I dont even think he is as good as the guys already there. I would pick Lookman ahead of him to back up Onyekuru and SiMoses. Either ways, he is gonna end up a fringe player, because, he can neither start for Nigeria nor the Netherlands.

Rohr is the komekn of German football...
what komekn is to England is what rohr is to Germany....
any average player plying their trade in Germany will always be called up by rohr...
such a stereotyped and conservative fellow...

If u saying something is common and it can easily happen then the least u can do is provide an example. Without an example you don't have anything to stand on.

You told me u don't follow the league, this was when I told u the league is better now and u were arguing.

The bolded is another unfounded statement. When has a club come from the NNL to challenge. Even MFM did not challenge in their first season. For a supposed NPFL reporter you are coming up with all this false statements o.

So happy for Ekong, should be fastracked into Watford if he keeps this high level of consistency.
We need more of our players in league 1, their blend of football education, nurturing and competitiveness is perfect for our players trying to adapt in Europe top level.

We just need to play out of our skins and see what will happen. The Americans can beat u in any way basketball can be played. Imagine playing the world 11 in football. Britney Grinner, Tina Charles and Nnemkadi Ogwumike are all capable of dropping 30/10 in that big man position and when u add Diana Turassi who IMO is the greatest female baller in history with Sue Bird who is a phenomenal PG, mehn we just need to work hard and hope they have a horrible day at the office.
