Tokyo 2020: A Testing Ground For Next Generation Super Eagles

Nigerian football seems to be in a good place…. or at least heading towards it.

For starters the right man is back at the helm of affairs for another 4 years

For another the awareness of the team as a brand has soared thanks in part to that exquisite jersey design from Nike, but best of all… an enormous amount of young talents of which most are conveniently under 21 are springing up everywhere.

In France Samuel Kalu . . . . http://www.soccerassembly.com/tokyo-2020-testing-ground-next-generation-super-eagles/

Nice list.

Samuel Chukwueze, Orji Okonkwo and Kingsley Michael are also eligible.

Nice list but Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure is no RB prospect. The fact he can play RWB does not mean he is a RB. It is his workrate and attacking instincts that make him Excel at RWB for Brugges but to play as a proper RB, I don't think so. Apart from that, yes, I also consider it a nicely projected fantasy list for our U-23s.

In addition some other players that we are yet to recognise now would prop up before then.

My major concern is if the coach can do justice in terms of team selection and another major concern is the availability of these players because the Olympics is not in the FIFA Calendar.

My Africa Best XI at the moment

GK- Andre Onana

LB- Faouzi Ghoulam (when fit)
CB - Kalidou Koulibaly
CB- Mehdi Benatia
RB - Serge Aurier

DM- Wilfred Ndidi
CM- Naby Keita
AM- Hakim Ziyech

LWF- Sadio Mane
CF- Pierre Emerick Aubameyang
RWF - Mohammed Salah Ghaly

Substitutes:

Normally I would have 12 as subs as I imagine it to be my best 23 man African squad.

Some of them would be as follows:

- Yaccine Bounou (GK)
- Achraf Hakimi (RB)
- Jean Michael Seri (CM)
- Wilfried Zaha (LW)
- Eric Bailly (CB)
- Idrissa Gueye (CDM)
- Amadou Diawara (DM)
- Kwadwo Asamoah (LB)
- Riyad Mahrez (RW)
- etc, etc, etc.

Agreed without reservation or bias..

Sturridge's talent since his days at Chelsea has never been in doubt.. He is a very clinical striker that can guarantee you goals.

If not for injuries ..

Solanke had the chance to displace him last season but missed it...

Solanke is injured.

Granada didn't ruin him, they rather saved him by converting him to a winger after he could not deliver in the CF position.

It may be. This is Liverpool not anyhow club. So, it's understandable.

However, if they don't want him this season, they're would have allowed him go on loan to Lyon or an EPL team but Liverpool rejected all offers.

Let us see how things goes.

Thats true bro. Liverpool wants him around else they would have allowed him go out on loan, they want him exactly where they need him, on the bench and sometimes, out of the match day squad.

Largely used? Please how many matches has bologna played this season to warrant that statement? Throughout this season, he has played as a number 9. Maybe when he went out on loan but definitely not with bologna in the Serie A and in the their youth team. I have never missed his game. I follow him, Ekong, Aina and to a less extent Joel Obi. Kingsley Michael would join the fray ASA he comes back to Serie A

He has played 24 matches for Bologna in the Seria A and was largely played as a winger. I done follow the boy since he broke into Seria A two years ago.

Do u have any proof or ur usual transfer market site that has Ebube Duru's age as 111? I haven't missed any of his games this season, the only time he didnt play as a top 9 was against Juventus that he came on in the 68minute to play as a support striker to Santander.

Liverpool winger Bobby Adekanye is considering switching his international allegiance to Nigeria, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.

Born in Ibadan to Nigerian parents, the former Barcelona wonderkid is eligible to represent the three-time African champions internationally but he is provisionally cap-tied to the Netherlands, the country in which he was raised.

Adekanye played three matches for Netherlands U17s in 2015 in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers and was part of their U16 setup but has been in the international wilderness for three years.

He played on the same Netherlands U17 side as AS Roma's Justin Kluivert , who is now a full international for the Netherlands.

The 19-year-old will not deny his country of birth if he is handed a call-up to Nigeria's U23 team ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Adekanye never turned down an approach from Nigeria before making his maiden appearance for Netherlands youth level as he insisted that he would have honored the invitation from the then Nigeria U17 coach Emmanuel Amuneke if his club had been contacted.

His performances for Liverpool U23 team this season caught the eye of manager Jurgen Klopp, who invited him to train with the first team during this month's international break.

The Royal Dutch Football Association are in the driving seat to cap another Nigerian-born winger, Club Brugge's Arnaut Danjuma, after naming him in their provisional squad for next month's games against Germany and Belgium.
