safarigirl:it will very very difficult for any of the candidates for the smaller parties to win reason because the political parties have no grass root structure. save for the PDP and APC none has such structure in place..... we just have to do all we can tp retire the old man come next year.... there is no honest politician anywhere in nigeria even the Duke and co Tlaba is mentioning what seperates them from many other thieves is ideas.... they have ideas and also knowledgeable. fashola was not an honest politician when he ruled Lagos but he was not short of ideas and was also exposed.... but the one currently ruling us fall short of this virtues...can't you guys see how well his VP manage situations whenver he is away. we need an educated and well exposed president.... . 1 Like |

forgiveness: I still think we should hold off a bit on Isaac Success's invitation. Lets monitor his form till December (half season) as well as his discipline (off the pitch). Lest all the praises go to his head and he heads down that path again 4 Likes 1 Share |

darkelf: If we had a striker who is in firing form for the Eagles, I dont think this many number of people will be calling for Success yet. So what do you say about Rohr inviting Anthony Ujah? Why wait till December to invite Success? After this October game I dont think there is any qualifying game till march 2019. And by then who knows he may have been injured again. See, even in Success' current form I still rate him higher than Ighalo. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Icon4s: You're very correct about the bolded statement but I think we can do very well by playing either of our in-form wingers as false 9s (Musa, Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu et al). And yes, even I rate Success way higher than Ighalo on his current form but still, Isaac's resurgence is still recent and we might be taking a gamble by including him in our squad against Libya. However, playing Success against Libya seems like our best gamble yet. Wow, what a dilemma. 1 Like |

darkelf: I am more ready to take that gamble than to play a player who has proven over the years to be toothless in front of goal. Besides, Success may not necessarily start. He may just get a few minutes or perhaps a closer look-in by the coach. |

ChrisKels: Actually you are correct spot as if you have seen them in training. Adekanye shows a lot of flair skill and the type of show boating we like. But with a little end product. On the other hand Seyi doesn't waste time with unnecessary skill but us very precise in reading the game and with good consistent end product. 1 Like |

Curtisaxel27: Actually he is not. He left PSV to Barcelona and then Liverpool do one thing his bank balance at 19 years old is not desperate. He is arguably number one stand out player in Liverpool U23 and regularly trains with the first team. He has a lot to learn with regards to end product but once he gets a good loan move and plays regularly his development will accelerate rapidly. 1 Like |

darkelf: What's that saying, " Old soldier, no deh die" l still rate Ighalo higher. He has the guile, presence of mind and experience to still cause a suprise and score a handful of goals. Particularly against a lowly rated Libya that we must beat. Isaac has never been prolific throughout his career and he has now shown some focus. That's resulted in a resurgence from a waste man to one with some promise. For me that is all, a bit of hopeful promise. But it's very early days he needs to force his way into the Watford team if not as a regular but then as a super sub. |

Humility017: The key difference that gives Brazilian players ascendancy is that at 16 a very large number of thier players play first team football in the Brazilian league. How many teenagers do you see in the EPL, compare that to the French and German league. And that's where thier player development and progression is being made and much better than England. Almost all of the English Nigerian players are experienced players playing first team football. If not in the EPL then in the Championship. For instance look at Dominic Iorfa by 21 he had played near 100 professional games although only playing U21 for England. However, for those in big clubs opportunity is very limited. Consider Ademola no opportunity at Everton goes to Bundesliga and lights it up. Unfortunately he is still not getting much opportunity. The players that we have in the SE not that many are outstanding in thier Leagues or clubs. Add to that how many are in top leagues. For instance, currently tell me a winger that's clearly better than Ademola in the SE. It's looking at players who can add quality or give us something different that we lack. In the midfield I think Tega Onomah will give us IMMEDIATE QUALITY, l rate much higher than Ejaria. A player that nobody is talking about but I have been impressed with, playing in the very lowly English league 2. Is Chuks Aneke midfield general, he was the outstanding player for MK Dons in league one and in that league, wanted by multiple championship clubs but blocked by the club for a transfer. If he was 21 he would be in the EPL straight away. 1 Like |

DRAFTING MORE FOREIGN-BORN PLAYERS TO EAGLES WILL BE COUNTERPRODUCTIVE The North Africans have been doing it for years, then French-speaking sub Saharan countries joined in. For Nigeria, was something that previous NFF administrations flirted with, but now, under Amaju Pinnick, it is about to be elevated into a full blown policy, vigorously pursued. But is it the right step to take? It is crucial to follow the universal pattern when trying to build anything worthwhile. These patterns usually fit a principle of life; and these principles work, no matter who applies it. Therefore, to build, you start small and you take care of the little things. The principle is: when you take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves! In building the senior Nigeria national teams (Men and Women) we need to take care of the home league, grow it and maximize their financial potential. While it is within the rights of the Nigeria Football Federation to invite footballers who are born to Nigerian parents, it will likely accelerate the death of the Nigeria league. The move is akin to building a pyramid upside down with the tip bottom and base up: the structure will eventually totter and keel. The national team will look shiny and glittery from afar, but it would not be built on any solid foundation. They will likely win…but only for a while. A national team built like that will encourage drain; players will look to escape the home league, and will do so at the earliest opportunity because attention of the fans will be focused on the national team. It will discourage sponsorship of the home league since the best are leaving, and fans are not watching. Sponsorship is all about exposure to an audience, and all eyes will be on the glittering national team. A national team built on expats will encourage waste, it is simple arithmetic: it requires more money to fly in 22 players, than to fly in 10 or 12, and source the rest from the home league. Every game needs a maximum of 14 players that will be active, the rest are standby. 14 imported is the ideal, the remaining eight should be home-sourced, but where will we find them when they’re all bailing? Finally, the current treatment of the Women national team, The Super Falcons will likely torpedo that ambition…young people of Nigerian parentage will be aghast, and wondering what lies in their future, should they heed Nigeria’s call. It’s a good feeling when your national team has an array of foreign-born superstars and they’re wining matches. But we must understand: this is only a short-term fix that will have disastrous long-term consequences. |

cc12: A good write up with valid points. But my take is there should be no automatic shirt for any player, whether foreign born, Ex-U17 MVP or Golden boot winner or what ever. They are all Nigerians irrespective of where they were born. They play in Europe and so should be assessed on the same level playing field which is based on performance index. And then only those we think have something to offer to improve the team should be invited. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
