It is an unnecessary strike to start with. Labour movement should face the current fiscal realities of the country and stop making unrealistic demands. Even if FG find a way to accommodate a minimum wage of N56k, state governments can never meet up.

The more realistic option is to allow each tiers of government determine what they can pay based on available resources. Forcing N56,000 down the throat of all tiers of government will backfire.

Basic monthly salary is a percentage of the minimum wage.

Take-home (the final monthly salary) is MONTHLY BASIC SALARY plus all the allowances due to you. Eg. Wardrobe allowance, transport allowance, peculiarity etc.

Each of These allowances are calculated based on a percentage of the Basic monthly salary.

The Nigerian govt is never proactive, they always have to be pushed to do anything, if left alone will only address the issues pertaining to the elites alone.
If the govt has a proper economic policies that is favorable and drops the inflation rate that has refused to abide by the law of gravity, then you might be right to say increasing minimum wage might not be necessary, but govt haven't and you are wrong.
