Babyvet:with her profile, she is good to go. All she needs now is to prepare well and write IELTS and come with something higher than 6.5 in all 4 bands. Then she can sign up with some agencies recruiting nurses who would sponsor her NCLEX. Also she can still enroll into a school there for masters in a nursing specialty course like ICU, Anaesthetic, etc and I bet u before she graduates, she will get hired and the organization will file for her. She is okay with her nice profile 1 Like |

OP my advise to you is this. If you take a poll here, (to go or not to go, or even where to go between US, Canada, etc), you will have naysayers and supporters in equal measure. If you are relocating with your family, you need to know what visa category will cover you, what you will do for money, cost of living, etc. Do not leave Naija without a standing business or income earning endeavour here. I mean a business that operates with a structure and not one that is based around your presence. So when you leave, it is from a position of strength and not weakness. Secondly, take the plunge first. Do not yank your kids and wife off their school and work here to the land of the unknown. Know the industries or sectors where there are skills shortages and prepare yourself here ahead of time. For instance, Norway and Finland has high demand for forklift operators and truckers. So if you were to go there, consider equipping yourself with the necessary certifications to do such work while you scout for your dream job. You should also identify what you want to do for money. Do you ultimately want to work or own a business? Each country has rules and visa criteria for such endeavours. Know these in advance and prepare accordingly. Study the threads for different countries here. There is loads of information for the countries of your choice. 6 Likes |

Bro.... let's reason. For starters....don't ever consider spending time at a place as a visitor the same as living there. Moving on....your budget....N10M in two years time....I'm talking going to the US...the States with the most opportunities are usually the States with the highset Cost of Living. ..and that brings me to New York...NYC to be precise. That $30k will not be family friendly for long....$2000/month is reasonable...and we're talking rent only.Choose another State where rent is 'cheap'...transportaton will be the monster. Not only CoL you have to consider in making a decision. ..but also how immigrant friendly is that State. You should know immigrants are in the cross hairs of the present administration ....some states are fully in support...a few including New York are opposed and are 'at war' with the FG...instructing their Police and other agencies not to cooperate with ICE. Moving on.... you are 47...your wife 43.... age will be against you...entering the race as a handicap.... communication difficulties, no US work history,..following? Jobs are not readily available for citizens nor PR...so what would be your chances ?..how long will it take? You are already living comfortably in Naija...your wife contented...your family as a unit. Truth be told....your chance of making it period...let alone making it big...has long past. Any plans for emigrating...not you nor your wife should be the focus...your kids...to give them a better opportunity to make a better life in the future...wherever they may choose to live. 4 Likes |

Re: Family Relocation Abroad! Mature Advice /input Requested! by Babyvet: 5:22pm On Oct 02, 2018 |
franchasng: Lol, you think its that easy. You have no idea what you are talking about. I'm a registered nurse. There are no master speciality courses like ICU. ICU is intensive care unit, thats a hospital unit. Tell me why an organization would file for here, which includes them spending more money and time to file for her. When there are many American born and foreigners with their papers trained in this country who are ready to work. Not saying that job sponsorship does not happen these days but its mostly for people with extraordinary talents not for basic skills that can be acquired locally. 3 Likes 1 Share |

@op Just save up money for your kids and let them study in USA , Canada or Australia. You have a very comfortable life in Nigeria with 3-5m per year; 5m per year is less than $20,000 per annum which makes you fall under low-income category in the USA. So if you migrate with that money you won’t be able to keep up with bills considering the fact that you have kids and a wife . 1 Like |

OP, consider things carefully. At 47, you cannot afford to migrate anyhow. Especially with kids. You also cannot afford to leave them behind anyhow for your wife only to raise. The first two are close to their teenage years. A relative migrated to Canada with his wife and five kids some years ago. To do his PhD. He had around 50k USD. Still it wasn't easy. Apparently he was struggling so much that hardly anyone heard from him. That was before Canada began to tighten up immigration. Do not relocate your entire family with you yet unless you have a visa category that allows you to do so legally, stay and work legally. Otherwise study route, assuming you have plenty of money, might be best. Consider if you can study a post-grad course that qualifies as skill shortage category. That way you can stay more easily post-studies. Your wife can then pursue a health-care related course after that. 2 Likes |
