I wish u the best sis.

The only way to become rich or successful in most European countries as an immigrant is through crime related hustle like: drug peddling, internet scam, human trafficking, etc.

Highly skilled and educated health professionals who arrived Europe; UK mostly make it legally, others are struggling.

The high naira inflation is what makes it look like people abroad are doing better than most people in Nigeria which is why I detest Buhari and his useless government that killed Naira.

If not the advantage people in US, Europe, Canada And Australia get with exchange rate from $£€/Naira when they change money, believe me, most people in Nigeria are far better of than most Nigerians living abroad

Man, you become a cashcow to her while she stays at home and earns dollars every month for being a baby mama.

Baby mama is an occupation in the US, I don't understand why male movements are weak in the US and don't do shiit to counter this sad norm that's been passed into law.

Sex by mutual consent, you get pregnant. You have a child. And I pay all the bills. But no law mandating you to as well pay a fraction for the upkeep of the child.
The father is the role responsibility carrier of the child. And yet they scream to the top of the heavens they are equal to men.

Oga, I have lived in Canada over 5years and can tell from 1st hand experience. Let me tell you one thing today which I am sure we all relate with. Many people abroad tell you how hard it is over here and are never willing to go back home. Have you ever wondered if it is that hard truly? If you read through my other comment on his post, you will see where I wrote that even those who graduated from school here pick survivor jobs for survival pending when they get what they want. There are many immigrants who just came and landed good jobs. You might take your time to read the thread on living in Canada as a landed immigrant for better exposure. In essence, going to school here does not translate to better opportunities in all case. As for French, if you are not migrating to Quebec, there is no need to bother.
One last thing though, many of us carry our entitlement mentality from back home here as such, when things seem not to be going our way, we start painting the society bad. Please, do not tell people they are wrong as you can only tell from your perspective.
N.B: Canada isn't there yet compared to the US in terms of equality and job prospects however, we should remember that US is much larger and more of a capitalist system thus, they have less protectionist perspectives.

I disagree with some your statements. There a lot of successful Nigerians who are doing well in the US but there also many who are not doing well at at all. As Nigerians , we are very prideful people. Some people don't come back for many reasons, not necessarily because they're enjoying themselves abroad. For those who are illegals, they will not leave abroad until their later ages because they know that once they leave they will not be able to come back. Some will not come back because they too ashamed in doing so, they have not really achieved anything here and do not have enough money to live back home either. One should only to the U.S with their IMMIGRANT VISA, GREEN CARD OR CITIZENSHIP if not , they should forget about it. Getting a good job is difficult anywhere, even here in the land of opportunity. It's not abnormal to have to start over again.

It’s mostly shared 70/30 in most states on the USA . Where the women always take advantage of the law is the loophole in the family law . The women always claim they can’t find a job or no employer is willing to give them a job because there’s no one to take their kids to school and pick them up and protect the kids while you’re at work . Most will even claim they don’t trust their nanny who help them stay with the kid, so this usually make the guy pay more money for both child support and spousal support.

I would say you should try Canada. US is not the best in terms of immigration for now as this current administration (Trump) is trying very hard to limit people coming into the US. Even those who are here legally dont find it easy. They block every legal methods for them to be here legally and still complain and arrest people for being here without legal authorization.

In regards to student visa, you are limited to working for just 20hrs a week. Not many companies hire international students cos they dont want to go thru the process of "filing" work visas, and even at that, USCIS has put up rules restricting working visas too. This is all due to the anti immigration rhetoric the current administration is shelving out.

To avoid any heartaches, I would say I try Canada. It's for your piece of mind. US is not the best to immigrate to right now.

Thanks Laird. I could start with some not so odd job just as a sacrifice and to use the time to study the busines environment. I am sure that I should be able to invest in some business within one year of being there. I also intend to keep my business running here and hope to visit at least every quarter.

Even if I could afford it I really wouldnt subscribe to going back to university to learn in order to get a job. My wife had been interested in healthcare especially nursing. She would say yes at the slightest opportunity.

Your last statement is quite pregnant and most attractive. Its a viable option. Only snag being that I love seeing my kids everyday. At least let me have my fill of them while I can. Staying withput seeing them for long periods will be quite the torment.

If you're not on ground everyday to run your business, my brother, you should just abandon it. Hoping to visit every quarter is not going to cut it, plus your move and traveling would cost your business valuable money. I still say that you are on the track to success if you stay here and grow your business... you have 6 years before your first child goes to Uni... keep working here, and you will be able to afford to send them abroad. We have much more opportunities in Nigeria...

I was having a discussion with my Tanzanian colleague the other day about Africans migrating to Europe and North America. We both appreciate the good sides of living in Europe and North, but we made these observations.

1. You are never good enough in the eyes of many white people. They hardly respect you if you are made their boss and you are a black man or black woman.

2. You will pay bills till you grow into your late 60's and 70's and if you default on your Mortgage, your house will be taken from you, irrespective of the monies you have paid earlier on.

3. You will pay water bills for life in Europe and USA, Canada etc but if you dig your own borehole in Nigeria, the water is yours and you don't have to pay for it.

4. Your kids don't belong to you in the white man's countries. They belong to the Government. You can't punish your kids anyhow for any offences they might have committed. The Police will come banging on your door if you do that sad sad sad sad sad.

5. Nigerian women change into Monsters as soon as they enter Canada, USA, UK etc with you. They start claiming equal rights with you after some Months and you will soon see their true character smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley.

6. Many Africans focus on white collar jobs in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia etc while being blind to the opportunities that lie in jobs they consider as being dirty or beneath their status. My Tanzanian friend wondered why many Africans are not looking into being tradesmen like Carpenters, Painters, Plumbers. Gas Engineers, Cleaning Business Owners etc in the white man's countries. He noted that these 'dirty' industries are gold mines.

7. Black People are the targets of immigration policies in the white man's land.

8. Racism is ingrained in the white man's blood. He might like you but he still believes you are inferior to him. And he will let you know this in different ways.

9. Even though they live in advanced nations, Africans still long for their countries of Origin and follow events in their native countries everyday.

10. Lastly, we both agreed that in the long run, Africans should man up and fix their Continent. Cheers.
I have read through your points.
They are known facts, but you failed to ADD that the WHITE MAN will create Jobs for you to make money and pay up the bills.
U failed to add that the WHITE MAN will make the environment habitable for humans and human activities.

U failed to Add that TRIBALISM in Nigeria is worse than Racism in the Europe and America.

U Failed to ADD that the NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT care less about what happens to your kids in Nigeria, and that’s why women are maltreating maids with hot furnace.

U still failed to add that EUROPE and AMERICA are still better and far better than the entire AFRICA

If you have the kind of money that you can migrate through investment, then why not continue to make that money in Nigeria, then vacation out occasionally? Life is much sweeter that way.

The guidelines: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/immigrant-investor-visas.html

To qualify as an immigrant investor, a foreign national must invest, without borrowing, the following minimum qualifying capital dollar amounts in a qualifying commercial enterprise:

$1,000,000 (U.S.); or
$500,000 (U.S.) in a high-unemployment or rural area, considered a targeted employment area.
A qualifying investment must, within two years, create full-time jobs for at least 10 U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or other immigrants authorized to work in the United States, not including the investor and the investor’s spouse, sons, or daughters.

If I had assets of 1million dollars, why the hell will I waste it to immigrate? I can continue to grow my business, employ people locally, and have a much lower cost of living. People will call me sir, carry my bags for me, cook me good food, drive me around, and I can carry olosho without fear of arrest. I can attend weddings, trash talk with my friends at a bush bar, while enjoying our warm weather. If I need healthcare that I can't get in Nigeria, I will travel out. I should go to USA and pay 35% of my income in taxes? I dey mad?

I will come harsh before you see what you like. If you want to be like Dangote, you have to be in Nigeria? Did Dangote emigrate? How many billionaires in Nigeria emigrated? Likes of Oviosu of paga had to relocate back to Nigeria. It’s not easy for a Nigeria to become a Dangote in the US. You can live average like your wife envisage, I mean you can live well. There is nothing wrong with emigration but what is your motivation. In assessing your motivation check your background. It is not strange that likes of Elon Musk and many successful founders are emigrants but if you check well, they emigrated at a very early age- childhood to teenage and are from saner climes. The rich Nigerians abroad have a good pedigree. I mean they went to the ivy leageues or had successful parents. If you are emigrating as a family man, you must have a very brilliant idea, some good money and a strong network to become Dangote abroad. It’s not easy starting a business as a foreigner. I have been there so my words are from experience. If your ambition is to be Dangote, you should stay back. If your ambition is to be okay with thousands of dollars, abroad is good for you.

This is a very HUGE lie!!!! America is one of the very few countries where an immigrant can become a millionaire/billionaire, all you need to do is have great ideas, work very HARD within the legal limit and you will be rewarded- that is what is called the American dream, that attracts many smart immigrants.

Nigeria?!!! Really??!! Where you need to know who is who? Dangote?! He was a freaking Dantata/Dangote dynasty!!! Check out all the billionaires in Nigeria they were all children with CONNECTIONS! Otedola ( his father was Pa Michael Otedola). Whilein America you will hear of so many billionaires where they started their business from their garage/basement all they had was a dream and a vision.

There are many Nigerians that have become millionaires here in the US with hardwork and a dream no need to know anybody. Very very FEW people are billionaires, it is not easy being one. Unless you are referring to fraud!!

OP, unless you want to go the route of fraud, if have great idea and dreams and you work very hard, America/Canada is the best place to achieve those dreams. As long as you are legal, you have an idea that people will pay money for, you work hard you will make your money. No need to have connections, no government bureaucract frustrating you with bribe, no settling, no staff stealing your money ( even if they do, the rule of law will get you justice) reliable amenities ( electricity, internet, transport, postal office) to help reduce your over head cost. Nigeria is the worst place to do business, that is why many companies left wnd went to Egypt or South Africa.

Who said you are limited to menia jobs here in Canada as an Immigrant is lieing to you. I came here only 6 months ago with my family and after doing some little training, I am now working in the health sector and you can make up to $4k or far more than that in a month if you truly want to. Beside, you will have best free education for ur kids, all kinds of free compulsory Medicare in all ramificationsl. My brother all the good things people talk about Canada is really true.

ASPIREX:

Thanks!

Canada is a top choice but I only have issues with the extreme climate/weather. However I am studying widely just to see if some provinces can be better than others in this regard.

The healthcare advantage is a major plus for me.

The free education too is very good. The environment is quite friendly and the air is so clean and oure it is unimaginable.

My problem is whether I can cope with a menial job at my age. T is likely that I will be nudging 50 when we decide to leave. That is no longer young. It is entry level Agbalagba.

This is a huge misconception!! If you have great ideas that people want no one cares if you are black, green or pink. Immigrants continue to make it big in America. Even if OP stays in Nigeria, he will never be an Okoya, Ibru, Otedola and Adenuga because he does not have the last name. Please go and sit down. I know very well about my field. You are clearly not in the field. Thats how Nigerians go around spreading lies about nursing when they have not worked one day in the field. There are many speciality in nurses, you don't have have to work in those listed to be successful . List 10 organizations that have success rates of sponsoring foreign nurses to get their green card.

Madam, kindly go through this thread and see how Nigerian nurses are migrating to US through sponsorship of eb3 (green card) after getting their certificates certified.

https://www.nairaland.com/2863557/nigerian-nurses-midwives-dream-working/54#62630999

Many have migrated through this route by getting eb3 visa right from here in naija.

Why can't the man be in possession of the child since the mother is financially incapacitated?

Does he have to finance the upkeep of the child and still have him stripped off of him?

Well the reason is because the American law sees the woman as the primary caregiver .i.e the one who bath , cook , clean up , feed and general upkeep of the child . And most employer don’t accept excuse like my pikin sick today , my pikin no chop , my pikin Dey shit etc . So most nursing mothers don’t work till their kids start attending school which is the age of 3 or 4 years . So the state makes it compulsory for the man to provide all upkeep . Some bitches will not even live with you in your house which means you’ll pay your own rent and you’ll still have to pay rent for your baby mama & kids including other expenses too .
