“He said there is no shipping link along the sub-region, noting that cargo movement amongst the countries in the region had to first go to Europe before finding their way back resulting in very expensive transportation cost.” Just like how our crude oil first finds its way abroad, then comes back to us as refined products. When we have serious leaders we’ll know. We have failed to create new opportunities for wealth in the midst of abundance, even when faced with imminent recession and high poverty and unemployment in the country. 18 Likes 1 Share |

Yongo explained that the Ghanaian government needed 2,000 tones every month to power its second coal plant which would have brought the annual coal demand from Nigeria to 1.4 million tones. This is a weird situation if its true. Nigeria could ship the 2 tons of coal there if the Ajaokuta Warri rail line was ready. The numbers are incorrect since Nigeria's total coal production isnt even 500 tons. Kogi produces 322,959.69 tons and Gombe produces 74,254.67 as of 2017. Ps: Does Ghana use coal power? 2 Likes

giles14:Private mining companies are mining in Gombe, private companies are mining in Kogi, the FG is not known to mine any solid mineral anywhere. Is there anything (human or spirit) stopping anyone from mining coal in Enugu?... Who is marginalising who? #MentalSlavery 26 Likes 3 Shares |

DankemzI:Lol... Nothing is currently being produced but your worry is that 'if' something is produced, the proceeds will be shared with dormant unproductive states up north?... What about the dormant unproductive states down south who also take share of proceeds for producing nothing?... Even this comment you quoted mentions that Kogi and Gombe (north) are mining coal but Enugu (south) which sits on the largest coal deposits is just sitting and waiting for proceeds to be shared. Na wa for reasoning! 21 Likes 3 Shares |

Its hard to believe this. A lot of Nigerians and Nigerian companies ship tonnes of crude oil and refined petroleum products to Ghana by sea? I think it will be better to say, there's no Nigerian company interested to ship coal to Ghana. 11 Likes |

Port Harcourt came into existence to allow shipping coal from Enugu to UK. Over 100 years ago. In 2018 we cannot work out how to get coal reasonably cheaply from Kogi to Ghana. And we go dey lament how dem oyinbo cheat us. 8 Likes 3 Shares |
