nnamdijonathan:Like CJrane said, the United States and France declined from supplying these parts to Nigeria which compelled them to patronize Innoson who is the only one with the technology to produce them. Proforce only assembles. Besides, government patronage of Innoson was seriously advocated in the last administration and incorporated in their future projections. The results are what we see today:http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=31333. This is not a chest beating contest. |

superlightning: What braggadoccio do you speak of? I simply debunked his many allegations against Ndi Anambra. Okpara was Zik henchman. Whatever peace he enjoyed in East,or leverage at the centre that ensured the East stayed on top of its game, it was Zik who afforded him that. Okpara was a solid leader, but Zik was the overall leader who marshalled out aims and objectives of the NCNC party, go figure. Okpara was a member of Zikism movement. Let that sink in. I didn't subtly project any thing. Zik was the Igbo leader in the era in discuss. He was the one with the plans. Without Zik, there wouldn't be an indigenous ran Eastern region for Okpara to even lead,to begin with. Well, there wouldn't be a civil war, if Ironsi did the needful, he(Ironsi) failed to manage the immediate post Nzeogwu coup complications. Ojukwu was the man faced with the arduous task of cleaning up both Nzeogwu and Ironsi mess, he wasn't perfect, but he shouldn't be cleaning up any mess at all, if Ironsi wasn't so bad at leadership. So, if you want to play the blame game, know for sure that it would backfire, because there is enough blame to go round. Never did I say that Anambra is the only state with firsts. If you don't celebrate your own firsts and Anambra chose to celebrate theirs, whose fault is it? Are we suppose to be apologetic to you for celebrating our heroes? You are already downplaying the roles of Ndi Anambra, starting with Zik, so you are not so much different from those you chose to malign. 11 Likes 1 Share |

pazienza: Okpara was indeed a zikist in ideology, but his leadership qualities were simply his, NOT zik's. Let that also sink in. Zik himself was Herbert Macaulay's protege....so there is nothing insubordinate about starting a political career from someone else's foundation. Ojukwu aggravated the problem by rejecting wise counsel from the likes of zik, okpara and ibiam. When he saw his loss coming, he ran away to ivory coast in the name of "exile" leaving the already battered people he was leading to lick their own wounds. For your information, ironsi NEVER created any mess, he was trying to placate the north and at the same time, bridle the excesses of his Igbo kinsmen. Did he make a mistake by APPOINTING ojukwu to run the eastern region? You anambarians think too much of yourselves. Boast all you can, but stop belittling others in the process. I don't hate ANAMBRA , there is even no such thing as anambra or abia or Enugu etc, Igbo bu Igbo. Igbo di otu. I 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Handsomegod: Most sidewalks are built by covering the drainage on the sides of the road, our governors know this but, they prefer to deliver substandard projects to us because, they know that there will be no criticism from the people. |
Re: . by Handsomegod(m): 7:02pm On Oct 04, 2018 |
nnamdijonathan:You mean something like the first attached, sir? (The red arrow is the water channel to flow into the underground drainage).Note the sidewalk was built atop the drainage. It may work in semi tropical regions but certainly not in our areas with torrential rainfall and incessant flash floods. Most advanced cities have central drainage system that channel all the sewage and residues from homes and offices towards a central point. Again,if we are a honest and forthright society, the inflated funds wasted by Okoroawusa in Owerri can construct a standard central sewage system and permanently solve the perennial floods in that potentially awesome city. It is a pity.

OMANBALA1: Igbo Izugbe has come to stay, Nwanne. There is nothing anyone can do about it. Fighting it would be like Okonkwo in Achebe's TFA who was fighting against the colonial influence in Umuofia. It's a furtile battle. Igbo Izugbe is affecting all Igbo groups. It's a good thing. To find each other, we must lose a part of ourselves to accept a part of each other. Take for instance in names. Most Igbos in Imo and Abia go by the name "Emeka", but this is not Imo/Abia dialect. The Imo/Abia equivalent of "Emeka" should be "Emela" hence instead of Chukwuemeka, it should be Chukwuemela. Yet you don't see Abia/Imo people complaining about this. It's generally accepted that "Emeka" sounds sweeter than "Emela" in names, yet when we sing in the church in Igboland, we say "Imela imela, imela okaka". And not "I meka I meka", simply because, Imela sounds sweeter in songs. It's the beauty of Igbo language. In Anambra, we all accept that "Chinyere" the Abia/Imo version of the name, sounds sweeter than "Chinyelu", so we give our children "Chinyere" as names and not "Chinyelu. Other Abia/ Imo versions of names prefered are Chizaram(Chizalum), Chinaemerem( Chinaemelum),etc. For Anambra versions accepted by all. Ifeoma(Iheoma), Ifeanyi(Iheanyi), Chidera(Chideha), etc. It's a good thing, and should be embraced by all, it unifies us more. 16 Likes |

There is standardized english...but believe me...if u go to england, u will see the difference btw various clans in england. We should standardize igbo and increase our vocabulary.. Oga Pazienza you are right, if we start speaking our different dialects like the guy suggested it will be so difficult for us to understand each other, I as an Ngwa boy will happily speak and write my dailect when I am with my fellow Ngwans but when I want to adress the larger Igbo nation I would have no choice than to speak central Igbo. And also I can't see any much difference in Igbo nzugbe with the one OMABALA is projecting except some (R instead of L, N instead of L, H instead of F words etc) to me these are the same when pronounced. 1 Like |

Michael okpara....the youngest premiere in Nigerian history. He turned eastern region into the fastest growing economy in Africa...even b4 oil became a factor. Dude never owned a house. He joined eastern region house of assembly in 1950 and had a steady political career lasting 16 years....7 of which he spent as premiere. Died at age 64 8 Likes 2 Shares

pazienza: I am not interested in the state politics going on here but I know that Zik is one non visionary person, even though he was intelligent . You are overhyping his roles. His positives ended in 1960, although, prior to that, his insistence on Nigeria not dividing didn't make any sense. He listed our problems in a certain speech and still went ahead to campaign for one Nigeria? His counterparts in other regions were busy positioning their people for a post disaster Nigeria, but he was just behaving like he didn't know the Nigeria that he wanted to lead and it's tribal realities. Even went to contest in the Western region, when he had a region to develop. I really wish he were like Ojukwu - protecting his people first. His post 1960 actions were disastrous, how did he even help Igbos when they needed him most in the late 60s? Abeg. Don't get me wrong, Zik started out well, galvanizing Igbo people into a union(thats what I meant when I said Igbo as a political unit is recent, but some didn't get me), I learnt he helped some Igbos get strategic education abroad and all that , established UNN but he really ended badly. It kinda cancelled everything and we all started afresh. Ojukwu had his own mistakes but he is more popular in Igboland cos even the elders understood that those mistakes of his were as a result of trying to protect his people. Other people who understood our realities were Akanu Ibiam, and my favorite, Michael Okpara. The latter is a genius . 9 Likes 1 Share |

Bede2u: If I had seen this comment of yours, I wouldn't have made mine. His vision is out of the world, I don't understand why Sb should ascribe his astuteness to Zik. Dude is inherently good, full stop. Our Igbo governors behave like they haven't read of some of our founding fathers in terms of governance. What does it take Imo/Abia governors to imitate Mbakwe and Anambra /Ebonyi /Enugu governors to imitate Okpara ? 10 Likes 1 Share |

InyinyaAgbaOku:state politics pains me eh....wetin be anambra and enugu? The last deputy governor of enugu state came from Abia. I as an enugu man know some of my anambra friends who i can support for enugu governor tomorrow. Many of us have mothers coming from outside our state sef. We are igbo. Nothing more. So if i critisize zik, its because of his deeds, not his origin. Zik steped in to lead eastern region at a time division was very possible...but he chose to be zik of africa...lol. who send am? Oil was discovered in east since 1958 and u dont knw wat that means.. a whole zik who schooled in u.s didnt know wat dat meant? Insist on ur people going it alone. Insist insist insist. Make things difficult for the white colonialist....insist insist..until u get a better deal...insist more...conduct illegal referendums...rig it and show a result of overwhelming independence vote... if the whites want one nigeria, give them big conditions...and insist on them. Ghana at the time was not as big as eastern region... Tell the whites that because of islam in north and west and lack of islam in east, that u cant advice ur ppl to form one country with nigeria. Then insist more...until they either gv u wat u want or imprison u. Wen u get an independent eastern region, name it wat eva name u like and enthrone ursslf as king...let ur sons take over from u....then work for ur people like ghadaffi did. East could have been as developed as algeria today if we had futuristic leaders in the 50s after oil was discovered. Unfortunately, we had zik who wanted to be president of africa 10 Likes 1 Share |
