Igboho100: Stylishly?....that's blatantly.... and yet....sooo many would call it a welcomed development. Funded by the Chinese....they fund anything...but...what do they want in return? That is always kept a secret. I'm almost sure that to control and eventually own the airport is part of the deal. Travelers would be paying through the nose....since the airport would be run for profit....no longer a service. Foreign investors...let's boast that we are best at attracting them..... two generations later we would be wondering why we are second class citizens in our own land. 1 Like |

Originalsly: Brisbane airport, Australia managed by Schiphol, a Dutch company. JFK airport Terminal 4, America managed by same Schiphol group. This is global best practice in aviation. What exactly do you guys get angry about? 1 Like |

GavelSlam: No doubt.....add shipping ports to the above.... also add buildings....all managed....managed by private firms......not concessioned/leased. |

Originalsly: You think they are managed on a day to day basis? JFK is concessioned. Same for Heathrow. At the end, it's obvious you are looking for something negative to say even as it is global best practice. Get off your negativity and support government make the country better. |

GavelSlam: Really?....concessioned to whom?...JFK is run by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.... like the tunnels....policed by Port Authority....not concessioned. That's a public airport.... not allowed to make a profit. |

Originalsly:NEW YORK, Aug. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- AIRMALL has been selected by JetBlue, New York's Hometown Airline™, as the concessions developer to help attract and manage concessions tenants that align with JetBlue's vision for T5, its award-winning, state-of-the-art, home terminal at New York's John F. KennedyInternational Airport. AIRMALL, a Fraportcompany, plans to invest tens of millions of dollars to further enhance what is already considered to be one of the world's best airport terminals. AIRMALL will also lease space to T5's concessions tenants and manage a range of day-to-day operations. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/airmall-selected-to-manage-concessions-at-new-yorks-john-f-kennedy-international-airport-terminal-5-300320829.html Should the airports be concessioned, does that mean FAAN would cease to exist? |
Re: FG Approves Concession Of Lagos, Abuja, Two Other Airports by Originalsly: 12:21pm On Oct 06, 2018 |
@Gavelslam.... 18Ebiscoo: Jet Blue is not in control of JFK...neither is Delta or British Airways all having their own Terminals at JFK....they are tenants. JFK is not handed to any of them. In this case, Abuja airport is being upgraded...then handed over to the concessionaire. Is this international best practice? That's where I'm having a problem. |

Originalsly: Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited, formerly BAA[2] is the United Kingdom-based operator of Heathrow Airport. The company also operated Gatwick Airport and Stansted Airport, plus several other UK airports under its former name. It was formed by the privatisation of the British Airports Authorityas BAA plc as part of Margaret Thatcher's moves to privatise government-owned assets, and was once a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heathrow_Airport_Holdings I think you should accept what is done globally and actually works. 1 Like |

GavelSlam: No doubt. ..privitisation does happen.....if not mistaken I think even Royal Mail is private....but when it does...the FG does not pump money into public property then hand it over to a private entity. That's the difference here. And privitisation of public property works for whom?...the small man suffers even more if the FG does not have cost controls. This one is boasting about the ROI.....that's a hint on what is toncome. |
