Why are you always pained? Of course Enugu state airport is dead. Umuleri International airport is the biggest project under construction in the SE since 1999. For now Port Harcourt international airport will be serving the SE. basilo101: |

Stella made a mistake which the new Aviation minister has come to correct. We don't need Enugu state airport in the SE because we can easily travel outside Nigeria via PH. Even Asaba airport looks better off. pazienza: |

Xander85: Buhari is certainly an ethnic bigot, but picking 4 international airports to focus on doesn't necessarily mean he deliberately set out to discriminate against Igbos. You would note that there are 4 airports being revamped at pace for the 6 geopolitical zones. You failed to factor that the North East are disadvantaged too. Kano's airport would basically be serving the massive 13 states of the core North in the NW and NE. In geopolitical calculations, the SE due to its location on the Nigeria map often gets grouped with the SS. Which would make sense seeing as we're in close proximity (you could basically group both the SS and SE together as a united SE) and are the 2 smallest regions by landmass, with some elements of cultural affinity too. Anambra, Imo and Abia are closer to the PH airport than Edo or Cross River are to PH even though Edo, Cross River and PH are in the same geopolitical zone. Those SE states are closer to PH than Kaduna or Zaria in Kaduna state are to Kano's airport, even though Kaduna and Kano states share borders. These are practical considerations. Another hard truth here is the role that Stella Oduah played as Transportation minister. Woman should be stoned for her incompetence and disloyalty to her zone. It was under her that the Enugu airport runway degenerated so badly , arriving passengers were swimming in flood to get to the terminal and she did some woeful cosmetic touches in the name of renovation at inflated cost. 3 Likes |

onuebonyi: You simply can't rise above your parochial and clannish mentality. The average Anambra man is a builder, but you, you are a destroyer, you verbally destroy every Igbo group achievements, you have personal problem with having any part of Igboland progress, you would rather have the development go elsewhere. It's obvious why many believe you are not Igbo. Come to Enugu, many Big buildings here are built by Ndi Anambra, even Victor Umeh residential home is in Zoo estate Enugu. Stella odua battled hard to make Enugu an international airport, you are not more Anambra than her. Whether you like it or not, Enugu Airport will Stand, and once the necessary infrastructure is put in place there, it will grow. 7 Likes |

Nwanne you are getting it wrong. Do you know that ordinary Owerri airport without any assistance has thrice more traffic than Enugu airport? What's the rationale for putting more money into a waste pipe? For once i congratulate Bubu for doing the right thing. SS and SE has so much in common and proximity, we all should share PH International airport for now. pazienza: |

nnamdijonathan: The laurels, divided into three categories: Overall Best Teacher, Overall Best School Administrator and Overall Best School, come courtesy of the President 's Teachers' and Schools' Excellence Award, the highest school awards in Nigeria, and the honours were done by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Barrister Boss Gidahyelda Mustapha, who represented President Buhari at the event. The Overall Best Winner of the School Administrator Category, Mrs. Ezenwa is from Awada IV Primary School, Obosi, Idemili South Council Area, while the fourth position, in the same category went to Doctor Uju Ifegwuani of Anglican Girls' Grammar School, Onitsha. Never forget, perhaps hurriedly, that, on the same day, similar atmosphere, but just in 2017, Mr. Clement Okodo of Central School, Abagana, Njikoka Council Area, went home with a brand new Nissan car for as the Overall Best Teacher in Nigeria, and the honours were done by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Barrister BossMustapha, who was represented the President at the event. https://etimes.com.ng/grace-ezenwa-from-anambra-wins-presidential-best-teachers-award-gifted-brand-new-car/ 1 Like 1 Share |

What is the air traffic for Kano and other NE airports? Enugu and Owerri has more traffic than Kano airport. So, if we are talking about practical and feasibility issues here, then we should be considering Air traffic. Nope, SE isn't same with SS. They are distinct regions. Nigerians tell us this Everyday. The argument of landmass is redundant, you can't eat your cake and have it. The Nigerian revenue sharing formula considers landmass, which means states with Landmass gets more allocations, while those with lesser landmass gets less. You can't come back and still suffer those with small landmass by telling them they don't deserve an International airport of their own, simply because their zone is closer to another zone. PH airport can never serve SE. Never. I attached the air traffic chart below. 6 Likes

Obi1kenobi:Hehe. Our celebrators will kill you for not celebrating Odua. Enugu has never been in same class with those 4 airports. I believe Enugu will be among second batch in the nearest future. In fact, if not for anti-igbo stance of PH, we would have been cool with PH airport |

onuebonyi: The SS don't see you the way you see them. We have no point sharing PH airport with anyone. Enugu Airport is not doing Bad as it stands, despite numerous incessant closures by the FG to frustrate those who patronize the airport into choosing other airports. The Airport still generates more traffic than Kano airport. And stop being mischievous. We know how you feel about Imo and Owerri. Your opinion wouldn't be different if we are talking about making Owerri an international airport. Nke anyi bu nkem Anyi, nke ha , bu nke ha. Enugu bu Nke Anyi. PH is a bi ethnic city shared by Ikwerres and Ijaws, two ethnic groups that deeply resent Ndiigbo. 7 Likes |

pazienza:Go and check international traffic. Kano is almost Enugu and PH combined. The reason Kano is low in local traffic is because abuja is three and half hours with very good road and you know abuja route command high traffic |
Re: . by onuebonyi: 1:19pm On Oct 06, 2018 |
The point is that Kano International airport serves the core North. I personally feel more at home in PH than Enugu state just like many people out there, so the Port Harcourt internationa airport is good for the SE AND SS. pazienza: |

By the way. Stella Odua had done more for Enugu international Airport than Anyone has ever done. The only reason we have "international" attached to that airport today, is because of Odua. Those accusing Odua of not puting enough infrastructure in place are simply being mischievous. Billions have been invested in Lagos and Abuja airport yet they remain third world looking with poor standards everywhere. Why exactly were people expecting Enugu to look any better without even at least 1/10th of same continious investments those other airports had enjoyed? 6 Likes 1 Share |
Re: . by Obi1kenobi(m): 1:21pm On Oct 06, 2018 |
pazienza: Look at the international traffic. The international traffic of Enugu and PH airport combined is far less than Kano's - less than half of Kano is some quarters. Lagos, Abuja and Kano are Nigeria's biggest international hubs. So we're doing well to even secure international status and development of PH's airport. Again, these are practical realities. It's also one of the reasons I believe Anambra's Umueri cargo airport is another white elephant project which will go the way of Tinapa. We are not a major aviation hub. 1 Like |

Nwanne what i am saying is Enugu state airport has no traffic and it will be a waste of resources if FG resume work there, and i think the new minister of Aviation understood this the reason he left Enugu airport out. PH is an Igbo city. There are so many igbos in PH, and i know that many prefer the airport to be in PH because of business connectivity. Igbos have nothing to loose since there's an international airport in PH pazienza: |
Re: . by onuebonyi: 1:28pm On Oct 06, 2018 |
This is because you have not been to Ph lately. There are more Igbos in PH today than Lagos and Abuja. NEXT biggest mall is in PH. There are so many big businesses of Igbos in Ph. Oil serv, Nestoil, etc are all Igbo businesses in Ph. The minister has done well so far pazienza: 1 Like 1 Share |

Good point there Obiora. I like your rationality sometimes. Enugu state airport is more or less not existing because even Asaba airport of yesterday has surpassed it in traffic. There's absolutely no rationality for wasting any further resources on the enugu local airport. For now Igbos should be using PH International airport until Umuler international airport is completed. Umuleri air will do very well because Anambra people travels very, also huge economic activities in the state coupled with Aviation fuel planned the airport via Orient are a big boast. Aviation minister is very much in order. Obi1kenobi: |

Obi1kenobi:Kano route to SE is via owerri and yes owerri has higher local traffic. But local traffic matter less otherwise Kano won't be a top priority as it is |
Re: . by onuebonyi: 1:48pm On Oct 06, 2018 |
Obi1kenobi: Priority should be given to Owerri airport due to traffic than the Enugu state airport that doesn't have traffic at all. Even Okorocha has done some warehouses in his state airport but ugwuanyi is all sitting around waiting for the FG to do everything for them. |
Re: . by pazienza(m): 1:48pm On Oct 06, 2018 |
Obi1kenobi: International traffic that is mainly pilgrimage to mecca and that had been bolstered by Big FG investments in key infrastructures for international operations, while every devilish tactics available, including closing down the airport over flimsy excuses of repairs in festive seasons like Christmas and Easter, had been deployed by the FG to frustrate passengers out of the Enugu airport, as if starving the airport of infrastructures is not bad enough. The domestic stats tell a better story. 3 Likes |
