Yes nke anyi bu nke anyi but international airport cannot built in a state that doesn't have heavy industrial presence nor major economic activities. Lagos, Kano, Ph, all have good industrial and commercial presence.

We can be using PH International airport for now. FG cannot be forced to waste money and build an international airport where there's zero air traffic, i think that was why they corrected the mistake of Stella by removing Enugu state airport from the list.

You can argue from now till tomorrow, FG ha made up the list of international airports in Nigeria. We are OK with this. tongue

The Federal Government reiterated its resolve to concession major international airports in the country to ensure they are run efficiently and profitably.

However, this does not imply ceding its assets entirely to the private sector as the designated airports would be handed to the concessionaire for a maximum of 30 years.

Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika disclosed this on Friday during the Grand opening of the Legend Hotel Lagos Airport Curio Collection by Hilton where he disclosed that the new terminals in Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Port Harcourt International Airport would be opened by the end of October this year.

The opening of the state of the art Hotel which had the President of Hilton Worldwide, Christopher Nasette in attendance also attracted the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Managing Director of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, Chairman of Oando, Mr. Wale Tinubu, among others.

Dangote who hailed the aesthetics and the architectural masterpiece of the new Hotel located within the premises of private terminal facility of Quits Aviation challenged the Federal Government to replicate such structures at all the nation’s international airports.

But the Minister in his response said the Federal Government would spend huge sum of money in improving infrastructures at the airports especially the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, adding that two of the newly constructed terminals (Abuja and Port Harcourt funded by the China Exim Bank would be opened for operations by the end of October, adding that the two others in Lagos and Kano would follow suit.

Sirika said while many Nigerians have taken to the social media celebrating the new terminal in Kotoka International Airport, Ghana, the facility is a child’s play compared to the new terminals to be commissioned in Nigeria soon.

The Minister, however, disclosed that the terminals would be concessioned for a period of 25-30 years to enable the private sector run them profitably while providing first-class services to Nigerian air travellers and foreigners.

The Minister lauded the CEO of Quits Aviation, Mr. Sam Iwuajoku for bringing the Hilton brand to Nigeria and assured him and potential investors of government’s support, saying Nigeria is the best place to be for investments as the rate of return has been discovered to be 24 per cent.

He said, “This (The Hotel) is unique not only because it is 10 steps to aircraft but because there is nothing like this in the continent of Africa and I believe this is the beginning of the journey of the investments of private sector into aviation to achieve the kind of aviation that we need in this country.

A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Until Igbo people put their house in order, this is the order of the day and will continue.

I was screaming for much of this week becos i have come to the realization that we dont even pity ourselves.

There is a say, which goes by; onye uwa juru agar a ju onweya. (A person the world have rejected, should not also reject himself.)

Igbo keep rejecting themselves and crying everyday.

Those that reject dem, look at them and say, gosh, these ones are really stupid.

I have lost countless times on this forum that i have heard yoruba say igbos are easy to manipulate.

We are our own problem.

Igbos are not so divided in real life.

Pay no attention to impostors here who are trying to create the impression of division in Igboland, by hiding behind Anambra tags.

Every where you see Igbos, they quickly close ranks and form an Igbo association.

I served in rural community in Yoruba, yet the few Igbos there from all parts of Igboland had an association, and immediately One of them saw me, he started speaking Igbo to me, without asking me if I were Igbo. I was amused and asked him how he knew, he told me that it's all over me.
There is this Igbo in every Igbo man, that is unmistaken.

No group unites and form "Porapo" groups faster in foreign lands than Igbos. Our unity even scares other Nigerians many times. Many accuse us of being tribalists, because we look out for each other.

Chiemeke probably sees you as an oppressor whose people oppressed their people. While Gowon who carried out policy that nearly wiped out your people from the surface of the earth, is his hero.

You should learn to separate individual friendship from group dynamics. This was why IPOB was busy joining groups like Isoko,Itsekiri, Tiv, Igala, etc into Biafra project. Just because they have few friends from those areas who are Pro Biafrans. They never even thought to sample the opinion of the majority of those people back home.
The way some of you reason at times makes me wonder.

You have a bonny friend who speaks Igbo, and loves Igbos, therefore, Bonny people are Igbo loving people.
Such a juvenile way of reasoning.

News flash! I belong to Bonny official facebook page, and the people are proudly Ijaws. And yes, they have a degree of resentment towards Ndiigbo. I guess your Bonny friend didn't tell you that, huh?

You should ignore these people. I have never seen or met a Bonny person with an Igbo name before. Even Opobo people don't answer to Igbo names not to talk about Bonny.

Oremi22 There is high rate of farming in the east now, cassava and yam, potatoes and maize etc are being grown in the east, I know many families that came back from town just to farm and they are now harvesting their farm products now.

What we don't have in the east are cash crops like cocoa, cashew, kola nut and I think the State and Local Govt have a role to play here, we already have palm trees which in turn produce palm carnels, udara, ube
are everywhere in the village.

@bolded GBAM!

What they are doing here is EXACTLY to prevent Igbo unity.

They will create one moniker and claim to be Anambra, then attack Ebonyi and Enugu.
Then create another moniker and pretend to be Anioma, then attack Anambra and other Igbos.
Then create another moniker and pretend to be from Enugu and attack SS and others they fear we might unite with.

They know their game of divide and rule tactics is collapsing in Nigeria, so they are frantically trying to use a general hatred for Igbos to unite Nigerians and maintain their status quo.

What shocks me is that respectable people in this forum fall for such dirty tricks and join them in naively attacking different parts of Igboland. Exactly what they hoped some naive people among us will do. The people behind these monikers are sophisticated propagandists. They know what they are doing and how to work the psychology of an ordinary Igbo person to attack his brother based on primordial instincts.

The way I see it, PH airport doesn't have much future prospect, because of the amorphous nature of SS.

I don't see the Edos abandoning their determination to create a Sea and air hub in the state aimed at maximizing on the state vibrant solid mineral economy, for PH airport.

Akwa Ibom people will not even let Calabar airport grow. Even when they are all brothers. Akwaibom is an ambitious state that would want to have an international airport of their own and would one day get their acts together and get Ibaka Sea port working.
I don't see them giving it all up for PH. Akwaibom is even more oil producing than Rivers state today.

Ofcourse, Asaba airport is on the pipeline for Delta State.

So in essence, PH airport would serve only Rivers and Bayelsa .

If they are counting on using SE for traffic, then they are sleeping on top bike.

Enugu must be an international airport, while Imo airport complements it.

The same fate will still befall the SE. Already Anambra is building its own. I read somewhere that Ebonyi has mapped out land for its own airport. I am sure that Abia will join the as soon as the gov wins his next term if he is lucky enough.

Every state will eventually have theirs someday. But what will play out is that there will be high traffic airports and low traffic airports.

Competition will determine all that. Lol
