You are right. I recall our first WCQ game in Zambia. He played RW. Against Cameroun in Uyo he played RW too and even switched couple of times with Moses Victor.

I am just addressing the fact that despite his predominance, career Wise, as a LW in terms of number of games played since he turned pro, it doesn't cancel out the fact that he can play comfortably on both flanks.

Danielnino00:

Simeon has played mostly at RW for Nigeria... Try and recall the games he has played for us..
And of course, he is ahead of Kalu in the national team.. If Kalu starts ahead of him,its simply because he has not played much this season...

Let me refer u back to our game against Zambia in Ndola where Iwobi played LW and Simeon RW..Against south Africa in Uyo it was the same..against Cameroon and Zambia in Uyo he also played RW though he switched to LW with Moses sometimes. I watched one of d game he played for Levante this season where he came in the second half and played RW .. Maybe he used to play predominantly at LW in Gent, but for the super eagles under Rohr,it's mostly RW.
.

He only played on the RW against Zambia because Iwobi occupied the LW possible and Vicmo was not in the team.

Against South Africa, I saw him played on the LW not RW.

Against Cameroon, same thing.

Off course, he can play on the RW but Rohr has used him mostly as a LW.

You are right sir.. What I meant was that we would still be better off today if we hadn't discovered oil.. Aside agriculture, our leaders would have put more effort in other sectors... That would have been a huge boost for us..
The discovery of oil was a blessing and at the same time a curse...

Maybe or Maybe not.

When Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh was Finance Minister in the first republic he was living a luxurious life off the proceeds of our Agricultural sector. Corruption still would have creped in. No major economy of the world has Agriculture as its main stay. Not even when we have a population as huge as 180-200Million with arable land being lost to both human activities, desertification and erosion on daily basis.

I agree with u that other sectors would have been developed. But what other sectors? Mining? Just like Oil too. Manufacturing? We still would have had power problems although raw materials would have been more available due to a more buoyant Agricultural sector. Technology? Yes. Would have really boosted our economy.

My brother make we leave economics small talk football. Nigeria's problems are deep rooted.

@ your last paragraph . that's what I'm saying too..
All of the wingers in our team have played both flanks in the national team before... Even Kalu drifted to the left sometime in the first half of that Seychelles game...

Indeed Simon may start from the bench but it is not that certain. And also, Simon has been a regular in the team and is also a key player. So there is no way Rohr will consider Success over Simon at RW even though Simon is predominantly a LW. Besides Success was invited as a CF not a RW. This is why there is no Simy on the list.
Simon can play with both feet comfortably well. He can play both left wing and right wing even though he is majorly a LW (which sees him often cut into his stronger right foot).
So it is in this light that he stands a small chance of starting on the right just in case Rohr benches Kalu.

Well, I never gave it a thought for once. Maybe I will consider the possibility of him playing on the RW once we get reports from the camp but for now I doubt Rohr will play Simon ahead of Samuel. I doubt.

Time will tell as regards who starts eventually in the RW, AM and RB roles come saturday. But for now, I feel the other roles apart from those 3 are sorted in the first XI. One thing is certain though; we will have a super strong bench.

Ebere Eze at the heart of Nigeria's dual citizen debate
By Colin Udoh, West Africa Editor, KweséESPN

Queens Park Rangers' Eberechi Eze, who some consider Nigeria's great attacking midfield hope, is one step away from being lost to the Super Eagles.

The midfielder has been called up by the England under-20 selectors, and is expected to make his cadet bow in two friendlies this week.
If that happens, it will mean a significantly more convoluted route to navigate if the Greenwich-born 20-year-old is to suit up in green and white.
Not unexpectedly, this has led to a bit of friction between the Nigeria Football Federation hierarchy and Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who called Eze into a training camp last year but did not hand him a debut, thus leaving him unbound to Nigeria.

Eze was one of a number of British-born players, along with Ola Aina, who were invited to scrimmage with the Nigeria national team in London. The expectations were that these players would gradually be integrated into the Super Eagles set up.
Eze's efforts were particularly eye-catching. His technique, skills, passing, and movement drew favourable comparison with the legend Austin Okocha, and NFF sources tell KweséESPN that Rohr had pencilled the then-teenager down as a potential replacement for captain John Obi Mikel.

Since that kickabout over a year ago, Eze appears to have fallen off the Nigeria national team radar. His contemporary Aina has become a fully-fledged international and only missed the World Cup party by a whisker.
In that time, however, Eze has grown from strength to strength at QPR, operating from a free midfield role that allows him the liberty of dropping his little technical bombs from all over the park. That unshackled rein has yielded three goals already this Championship season and made him a favourite with the Rangers fans.
That form has led to this call up by England, and could ultimately be the reason for Nigeria's loss. But that ominous prospect is still a long way out as he is nowhere close to the senior England set up.

So could he still be in Nigeria's plans? "Yes," Rohr told KweséESPN, before admitting that the road is now just that little bit tougher: "But it will be a long process before authorisation for him to play for us."

But a source within the federation preached sympathy for the coach, explaining that with so many foreign-born options available to select from, not to mention a plethora of home-grown talent also making their cases, it is a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation for the coach.

"He can't take every player born abroad. If he embarks on doing that, people will still moan and call it a team of second-divisioners and that he is leaving local boys out. There's never a perfect fix to the issue," the source said.

"Ebere is playing well. Good luck to him with England. There are many others that are being touted. Danjuma. Billing. There's so many. Yet when [Rohr] leaves even one of the old guard out of the list, heavens will almost fall."

It is about finding the balance between which of these dual citizens to pick and which to leave out. For now, Ebere is one that needs chasing while the door is still open.

Source: KweséESPN

The bold is everything wrong with NFF and Rohr's mentality.

We must look for the best but here he is talking .....nna eee!

And after the Civil War instead of tapping the intelligence of Biafrans to produce firearms and other technologies....Nigeria faced oil and young Gowon said...money is not our problem but how to spend it....here we are borrowing even when oil prices are high

Eze was a low hanging fruit. No junior caps for scotland or England. All we needed to do was call him and get him committed.

I have read the incomprehensible rhetoric from the NFF doesn't make any sense.

I was against the call up of Josh Maja and Ebere to the camp. Because they had not done anything they were just youth players.

However, things can change fast in football.

Ebere Eze is now on the radar of a multiple clubs Maja at 19 is the highest goal scorer in league one. These are not just mere hype.

The NFF have failed woefully it seems they had other considerations of which quality and outstanding ability were not at the forefront.

Rohr messed up big time and to think we had the opportunity to Cap him last year but failed.I don't know why we like to make simple things difficult in this part. I actually say an article where he said he prefers Nigeria to England but they took it down don't know why. Also Josh Maja should be invited he is on the rise.

I am sorry Josh Maja has already arrived, top goal scorer in league one is not easy.

There is none of our current strikers that if they were in league 1 they would be guaranteed the top scorer.

The bolded show that the NFF knew better than you at some point. I don't think there is anyone to blame here, especially not the NFF because they brought the players to train with the teams and they cannot call up players for the coach, we have been fighting against that so I cannot believe that u are using it as a point to bash the NFF. Why should they be involved in who comes to the team? What do they pay the coach for?

Josh Maja is exactly what we demand from players in the obscure leagues. If u must play in a lower league, u must be the best. Maja is a giant in the midst of dwarfs hence, the interests pouring unlike certain players like Iorfa and Aneke who haven't done no jack, yet, their names are brandished around here by some folks for reasons best known to them. Until they stand out as Maja just did, sorry but nobody is gonna look their ways, not even our local football sites will write anything about them.

OK o.

Onigbinde don suffer.

Chief I think he might be gradually earning that name. He seems too rigid and can't make changes to solve a problem. The world cup was the most painful part, we all knew 3-5-2 was the only way that team was effective in the friendlies, even a baby would tell you the team plays better with that formation only for him to use a 4-3-3 and we soaked a barage of pressure and finally conceded.

Now to current matter, Aina that is playing in the Italian league is a more improved player and plays in both RWB and LWB for his club. We are playing Libya where they would defend for their lives which means some of our overlapping Fulbacks might make the difference against a team that wants to keep a defensive shape. I was watched Shehu very critically in the GWG, yes he is solid defensively but offensively, he just lacks ideas in terms of delivery..

Iheanacho worship is a big problem I've noticed on this thread. It's a Nacho cult here. Everybody is bullied and cajoled into supporting Iheanacho. Persons deemed anti-Nacho are vilified and attacked for daring to question the god Nacho. Ask Forgiveness and Komekn.

The law here is "Nacho can do no wrong". If he can't make the match day squad, it's because his coach is racist and hates him, if Maddison wins the MOTM ahead of Nacho, it's because he is English and Nacho isn't. If he has a bad day, nobody dares mention it. If Ighalo scores in a goal, he is insulted because he "failed at the WC" as if Nacho tore the WC apart with goals.

Sentiment will kee you people.

Keep on worshipping the guy who was elected world worst striker if you want, for me, until he improves, Ighalo and Success are ahead of him.

Iheanacho is a decent player on his day but in recent times has been piss poor. Absolutely. Don't let any sick fool bully you. Look at Iwobi. Look at Ekong. Look at Eberechi Eze getting called up by the English youth team. Look at Samuel Chukwueze making the step up to the Villarreal senior team. Look at the resurgent Success, is he not Nacho's age mate? Okay look at Osimhen,√ the young man has picked up the pieces and is doing very well. Look at Musa at Nassr. These are players who are keeping it real. Except that Huddersfield game where he really stood out, Iheanacho currently❌

"We will keep our team competitive and attractive the way it is. The coaches are scouting and looking round for those available. At the right time, the right steps will be taken and we will be able to get these players to come to the team. But not just Sheyi Ojo, a lot of other players are showing interest in playing for the Super Eagles."
