Khed: Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has threatened to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if the leadership of the party in Abuja removed any member of the Kwankwasiyya movement from the list of its aspirants.
Recall that Kwankwaso had held primaries for various elective offices in Kano which were allegedly won by his chosen aspirants, leaving aside other PDP members.
A source within the party confided to Daily Trust yesterday that the former governor sounded the warning of leaving the party during a meeting held at Legacy House, Abuja.
The meeting, which commenced at 3pm and ended around 5pm, was attended by many PDP stakeholders including Bello Hayatu Gwarzo and Ambassador Aminu Wali among others.
According to the source, the meeting was organised to review the list of aspirants from Kano State. The Senator Mas’ud El-Jibril Doguwa-led faction of the PDP had also conducted its primaries where candidates emerged for various offices.
It was gathered that in order to have a unified house, the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) brought together all the contending factions with a view to having a win-win situation.
The source said, “Kwankwaso told the gathering that any move to remove any member of Kwankwasiyya from the aspirants list will lead to his defection from PDP.
“However, the Doguwa-led faction also threatened to dump the party if the leadership failed to review the list of aspirants.
The meeting ended in a deadlock…Neither Kwankwaso nor Doguwa faction agreed to accept the terms offered by the leadership of the party,” the source said.
According to him, the leadership of the party in its effort to reconcile the aggrieved members, resolved that the national and state assemblies slots be shared 50-50 between the Kwankwaso and Doguwa factions of the party.
He added that when the meeting reached its peak with no sign of success, the party’s presidential flag bearer and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, sent a former minister of Aviation, Mr Osita Benjamin Chidoka, to intervene on his behalf.
He, however, said the former minister also failed to reconcile the contending factions and the meeting ended without yielding any positive result.
Asked to comment on development, the Public Relations Officer of Doguwa faction of the PDP, Alhaji Musa Danbirni, said he was not aware of the said meeting. “I am not among the people that went to Abuja because I fell sick and I am still at home. So I don’t know what exactly transpired in Abuja.”
The spokesman of Kwankwaso faction of the party, Jamilu Dambatta could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report. On her part, Kwankwaso’s spokesperson, Hajiya Binta Spikin said she was not in Abuja. “It will be wrong for me to talk about party matters; the people that should talk on this are party officials,” she said.
Contacted, a strong pillar of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Aminu Abdulsalam, said he was not aware of the meeting.
Abdulsalam said, “The party’s chairmen, secretaries and other stakeholders were taken to Abuja by a different group with the sole aim of conducting a fresh primary election but to be honest with, the National Vice Chairman (North) told them that he has no mandate to do so.
“He told them it is beyond his powers to hold a meeting with them and he asked them to go back to Kano and await further instruction from the party’s national leadership. That is all I know about this issue,” he said.
https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/kwankwaso-threatens-to-leave-pdp.html/amp Kwankwaso is very important ohhh abeg Kwankwaso dont leave now na we need to come together to send the Daura Fulani tyrant back to his village. The Pdp cannot afford to loose kwankwaso now ohh |

In politics there is nobody that can't be in the same party. Its all about interests. Kwakwanso knows atiku doesn't stand a chance against buhari. No northerner will choose atiku over buhari, and what's more tinubu already has the SW on lockdown. Carry out a trend analysis on them and you will see what I mean. There are many such relationships in Nigeria. Ogboru and Ibori can not rock same boat, Omehia and Amaechi, Ngige and Uba, Bode George and Tinubu and many more. These rivalries are deep and bitter. The entrance of one marks the exit of the other. |

bender79: Some northern PDP leaders will work against atiku. The reason is that after the 4 years remaining for buhari some of them mat still have the opportunity to recontest for presidency since there is no written law that suggest rotational presidency The unwritten law is in this case stronger than the written one. |

Well it might even be a fake news sef, you know all these Apc people kwankwanso defeat in PDP primary doesn't mean he can't deliver kano for PDP, you people should stop this leave talk if he leave and other pdp member leave. as it is now PDP will still get 45% from ekiti state despite another ruling party will be emerging . this one leave, another person leave, do you think such party can survive it? don't you see how APC was lobbying for another politicians when saraki and co left. at first they made us to believe their exit is inconsequential to them but that was lies, that's why they have to lobby for other politicians to fill that emptiness |
