Mikel Obi... No wahala shaa... But you has played like two or three games or so since the last international break in the CSL. Diaris God. Anyway, it is true he was absent in the last one or two match day squads of Teda's most recent games. In all, just make sure you are back for the November International break. No more excuses Biko

Rohr Reveals Exactly Why Mikel Was Not Called Up For AFCON Qualifiers Vs Libya

Super Eagles boss, Gernot Rohr has cleared the air on John Obi Mikel's absence from the team for a third consecutive time.

Concerns has been raised on the non availability of the Eagles' skipper following his absence from Nigeria's last two games against Seychelles and Liberia, raising questions on his commitment to the team.

But Rohr explained why the former Chelsea and Lyn Oslo midfielder opted out of the clash with the Mediterranean Knights.

"Mikel called to inform me on his unavailability," the coach explained in an interview session attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.

"He (Mikel) told me he wasn't ready physically for the demands of playing for the national side at least for now."

"He hasn't been in the squad of Tianjin Teda recently and that shows he is yet to hit 100% fitness."

"When he is fit, he will come back to the Super Eagles and play. He sends his messages and is always with us in spirit. Hopefully, he should be back for the game against South Africa in November."

Gernot Rohr added that he is satisfied with the level of training following their first workout on grass at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Super Eagles who are third on the Group E log face a must win game against the Mediterranean Knights in Uyo this weekend.

"We have it good with training since the beginning of the week. The environment here is serene and the pitch is in good condition.

"We have had four training sessions so far. Not all the players started with us on Monday. Some of them trained on Monday. On Tuesday we had two sessions," he explained.

Nigeria will host the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday 13th October with the return leg is scheduled for the 18,000-capacity Stade Taïeb Mhiri in the city of Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday 16th October.

The confirmed fact is that you are a "Fact twister".

Alex Iwobi was enlisted as a Senior team player right from the commencement of the 2015/2016 season. He was already training with the senior team members even after his preseason showing and making match day squads.

He only made his début after playing for Nigeria. That doesn't mean he was an academy player as at when he played for Nigeria. He was already making Arsenal's bench.

It is Normal for young newly promoted players to still be taking part in Youth games especially as they are not yet getting playing time with the senior team so as to still keep fit.

Iheanacho even after being promoted to City's senior team still played U23 football at that time.

Even Ahmed Musa at a time started playing for Leicester U23 team does that make him an academy player?

So your twisted fact that Iwobi was picked straight from the academy is a big fat twisted lie.

You just dey make people dey insult you here because of these your twisted approaches.

I am done please.

YOU REALLY DO NOT HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE ACADEMY OPERATIONS AT FOOTBALL CLUBS IN ENGLAND

First team players are called to the U23 on account of injury as part of the recovery process, or a fall out with the manager for football or non football reasons. The example of Sakho at Liverpool, Niase at Everton.

Because you train with the first team doesn't make you a first team player, over the course of the season you will find a considerable number of youth players training with the first team depending on the size of the the squad. This is very normal, some may end up on the bench and or get a few games or indeed no games at all. Even when you get a few games in the first team you are still far away from being established as a senior first team player.

This discussion centres on Iwobi, and the question, was he a first team player for Arsenal when he was invited to the SE No, he certainly was not, that is a simple fact. Why the question to highlight the double standard.

Below a link to a report about him in the Telegraph on of the more upstanding newspapers that have integrity in the UK dated 6th October 2015. That is to show some corroboration about him being a youth academy player.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/11915430/Who-is-Alex-Iwobi.html

Indeed you will find a lot of players going back and forth from first team to U23 as a matter of routine until they establish themselves as first team players or indeed be dropped if considered not good enough. Its remarkable to note that it was after Iwobi's call up to the SE that Arsenal offered him a long term senior contract in October 2015.

Rohr hints Jamilu Collins may start for Super Eagles against Libya

October 11, 2018, 12:49 pm 

Gernot Rohr has given a strong hint that Jamilu Collins could make his official Super Eagles debut against Libya on Saturday after closely monitoring him at his German club.
“Collins is interesting for us. He has the qualities to play very well for us,” the Eagles coach said.
“Perhaps he will start the game (vs Libya).
“It is not just because he has a good left foot. He has a good physique, he’s quick, he can go forward and he is defensively strong.
“I saw him play for Paderborn when they beat Cologne 5-3 and he did very well.

“Two, three years ago, Paderborn were in the Bundesliga and they now want to come back (to the top flight). They have a really strong team.
“What I also saw from him before the Seychelles game was good, but he had a little injury, he wasn’t 100% to start the game.
“He started the game in Monrovia against Liberia and he was good.”
However, Rohr equally admitted the competition for the left fullback position is open in the absence of Elderson Echiejile, who has yet to secure a new club.
Ola Aina and Bryan Idowu are the other options for Rohr in this position.

The French Connection: Samuel Kalu - The Nigerian nomad at home in Ligue 1
By Robin Bairner

The young winger is one of a host of foreign imports impressing in le Championnat - the League of Talents

It has already proven to be a big season for 21-year-old Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu, who has earned himself regular minutes at the Ligue 1 club while carving out a place in the Nigeria national side.

He was handed his international debut against the Seychelles at the beginning of September, in which he grabbed an assist, and now promises more.
With an African Nations Cup qualifying double-header against Libya looming, Gernot Rohr has rewarded the youngster for his promising start to the season in Ligue 1 with what is becoming a regular berth in a the squad looking to rebuild after the World Cup.
Editors' Picks

For Kalu, his debut represents a highlight of a career that has already taken him far and wide. His journey into the professional game started at the Golden Boot Academy, before taking him to France via short spells in Slovakia with Trencin and in Belgium with Gent.

“I adapt wherever I go,” Kalu has previously admitted – and his success to date suggests that is indeed the case.

By the time Bordeaux swooped for him in the summer for a reported fee of €8 million, he had made fewer than 50 top-flight appearances with Gent but had impressed sufficiently in order for the Ligue 1 side to line him up as a replacement for the talismanic Malcom, who moved to Barcelona in the summer after exploding in France.

“I’m happy that he’s signed for Bordeaux,” Rohr, who turned out for the French club during his playing career in the 1980s, said in August. “I think he’ll give them penetration on the flanks because he likes to play in space. Against teams who like to defend deep, players like Kalu can help find solutions.”

His statistics in the 2017-18 season were formidable, having netted six goals and offered a further seven assists in only 24 league outings.

“He has an interesting profile, with speed and technical qualities,” Bordeaux president Stephane Martin told the press, indicating the chief reasons why the player he had been signed.

The hope from both the club and the player is that he can replicate the spectacular success that Malcom enjoyed over the duration of a deal at Stade Matmut-Atlantique that will last five years.
“Ligue 1 is another step,” the player, given the No.10 shirt, admitted when he signed with the club.

He arrived on August 6 as Bordeaux’s first signing of the summer and in seven subsequent Ligue 1 appearances has mustered one goal and one assist.

Despite relatively modest numbers, club coach Eric Bedouet has praised the importance of a player Nigeria hope can become a replacement for Victor Moses, who announced his international retirement a matter of weeks ago.

“For a centre forward, wingers like Kalu and Francois Kamano are precious,” Bedouet said. “Kalu’s crossing is very, very good. They both possess great physical qualities and have a little of the same style: they’re very quick, direct, powerful and physically-strong.
“Look at the build of Kalu – he’s capable of stopping with the ball then accelerating again, making the difference in a game all in one action.”

The pair have often worked in conjunction this season and have been one of Bordeaux’s major strengths as they have powered into the top half of the standings.

Kamano, 22 and now into his fifth season as a professional, has hogged the headlines after netting seven times already, but Bedouet, who takes matchday responsibilities for the club, is well aware of the value of the duo’s powers.

“Both of them together, it’s quite annoying for opponents,” Bedouet added last week. “They have to continue these performances for the duration.”
Indeed, Bordeaux have leaned heavily on the pair and will continue to do so in the weeks ahead as domestic and Europa League commitments mount.

For Kalu, it has been a whirlwind beginning to the season, but for a young man fast tracked through Slovakian and Belgium football, it is a feeling that is not unfamiliar. Progress in his career has been unrelenting, and despite a left-field route to Bordeaux, he will expect it to continue all the way to the top.

I wanna straggle a bit.

I have been thinking, why is AJ scared of fighting DW? I am overly relishing that fight because it promises to be a blood bath.

Now Doentay claims he is Nigerian too. Joshua and his camp have been avoiding this animal like a plague. Is AJ being cautious or coward?

Thank you for posting this news article. I always laugh each time I see folks trying to give Sunday Oliseh credit for capping Iwobi. gosh, Oliseh wouldn't even recognize a talented player if one hits him on the face.

O pari

forgiveness:

Because we wanted him to play for the U23 and to do that he must play for the SE first because he was not eligible to play for the U23 team due to the fact that he already played for England underage team.

Why Oliseh invited Iwobi – Dikko

Shehu Dikko

The 2nd Vice-President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Shehu Dikko, has clarified why Super Eagles handler, Sunday Oliseh, invited Arsenal’s U-21 player, Alex Iwobi, for next month’s friendlies against Cameroon and DR Congo.

Iwobi, 19, was handed a late invitation by Oliseh and Dikko says it is because U-23 coach Samson Siasia, needs the teenager for the U-23 and he must play at full international stage for Nigeria to make that possible.

The call-up to Iwobi is simple a footballing as well technical one and for the good of the country. Iwobi has declared intention to represent Nigeria and he is good enough to represent Nigeria at U23 level. However, as he has played for England at the junior level he cannot play for Nigeria again at the junior level as FIFA would only approve his change of Nationality if he plays for the main Super Eagles,” Dikko wrote on his

“Therefore, his call-up now is to get his nationality change sorted and thus make him available to play for the Nigeria U23 If selected.

"Hence, Oliseh called him up on the request of Siasia who wants to use him for the U23s and by this action Nigeria will have secured his allegiance and this would also further motivate other players like him to come along.

He is 31 but him don try sha.

Meanwhile, Lionel chukwudi messi is 31 and still feeling like 21,while christian oluwatobi ronaldo is 33 and still feeling like 23.

Injuries are getting more frequent so to keep playing, he needs to manage himself well

Seriously I am not happy with what I have been reading these Days. It seems you are the only Person that understand Forgiveness on this Thread.

You can't beat him by blabbering rather with convincing Facts, and whether he succumbs or not is left to the Audience.

Gbam!

One question for you ? STATE ONE LIE NOT TWO JUST ONE WITH REGARD TO THIS CURRENT DISCOURSE.

Some people do not want TRUTHFUL FACTS.

He doesn't have anything thing to say to disapprove the facts on ground. Hence, just ignore him.

Hi, Fam!

I recently lost a neighbor to this recent Jos crisis.

It's been really hard accepting the fact that I'm never gon see Richie again even though we were together hours before he was killed.

sad

Sorry for your loss.
We also lost a former school principal. He was such a good man so it's a painful loss for us and even more painful for his family.
I pray that all these killings come to an end.
