With this choice, SW will prefer their son, Osibanjo to anybody, no matter how saintly & great, from SE. Moreso, with PMB/Osibanjo ticket, SW can dream of a shot at the presidency by 2023 after PMB. Let us consider this matter pragmatically,

Atiku with a SW running mate ; Osinbajo and Tinubu Factor will be an hinderance plus he might not get south eastern sympathy. The southeast will not like to be shunned a second time. Kingsley Moghalu is also there and I know the PDP will likely work with him 2019 if they win

Atiku with a SE running mate ; He will get overwhelming south eastern support,if this happens, the Tinubu power reign might likely come to an end. The only problem with this strategy is Jimi Agbaje doesn't pose a threat to sanwo - olu in lagos and winning the elections without Lagos and a section of the North seems like an uphill task.This is the frank truth.

Implication on Igbo Presidency in 2023; APC winning 2019 elections will create a high possibility of an Igbo president in 2023.Tinubu power reign might still be affected cos yorubas will not willingly vote in an Igbo man for president. Atiku winning 2019 elections will end hopes for Igbo presidency in 2023 and probably any time soon.

CONCLUSION: Atiku choosing Peter Obi as running mate portends a positive effect on the economy and ease of doing business in Nigeria. Peter Obi is a technocrat and has ties with World Bank and IMF though this might not count for much.Might be able to woo Okonjo Iweala back into running the economy as CBN governor.Overall, this shows Atiku/PDP are not here to play so APC and other parties shouldnt think they are pushovers.

They are business oriented so anything or anybody that is a threat to business is seen as the enemy. while majority of the population of other regions are salary earners or farmers..... have you asked yourself while abia and imo is owing months of salary yet you hardly hear about it? Ghana former President Mahama lost the election with that mindset. The Volta Region are core NDC, during his tenure NDC felt that they already had the Volta Region in the kitty and then decided to do more projects in Kumasi etc (Core Opposition areas) in order to win over people in those areas.
Guess what happened, the area they felt they had in the kitty boycotted the election, they didn't vote for the opposition and didn't even vote for their own party.
The opposition won easy.
Lesson: Never take people for granted.
Ignoring the SE will backfire, there are no wrong or right answer. It's better to reward loyalty than try to win over the opposition.

Why didn’t APC give their VP ticket to SE since they have SW in their kitty already? It’s because you’ve never participated in politics. Rule number 1 is politics is that you should all it takes to retain and consolidate on

The Atiku/Pete Obi Combination may not seem like a wise decision for the politically nepotistic, but it is the wisest decision for Nigeria and a better alternative to a Buhari/Osinbanjo cocktail of strange bedfellows.

Obi is a great business man, so is Atiku.

If two Entrepreneurs run Nigeria the way they run their successful businesses, then Nigeria will have no business being poor.

It will however be a Herculean task, not from local road blockers, but for the IMF/World Bank and the Office of International Relations, who will stop at nothing to ensure that only fools rule Nigeria.

To all those who think a running mate from the SW will make a significant difference please consider the following

1. SW usually votes for whoever they think will present a progressive agenda for Nigeria not because of tribe etc. In 2015, PMB was voted for in the SW because we thought he would restore some sanity to the system and not because of Prof Osinbajo per se.
2. SW votes have always been split 60/40 between opposition and PDP regardless of who the candidate is. Even in 2015 when PMB won, the vote was still split 60/40 between apc and pdp. Its not going to be any different this time around.
3. Even when Obasanjo a SW candidate was running, the vote was still split 60/40 at the presidential election.

In 2019, the SW vote will still be split 60/40 is what I think regardless of who the VP candidate is.
