If atiku had picked a VP from SW it would have countered the osibanjo/tinubu sentiment by reducing APC votes from say 65/70% to 50/55 while still having about 80/85% in SS and SE for PDP. But with was just played out it is a direct contest of survival between SW and SE meaning APC vote might just shoot up to say 80/85% instead of 65/70%. Again don't 4get SW has the highest number of registered voter next to NW. Buhari is NW, osibanjo is SW. If these permutations are to be correct then you should know PDP is trouble. PDP might eventually win more states but APC will have more counted votes and still meet the constitutional requirements.

Atiku is smart,he knows he's not winning any state in the west...so there's no room for betrayal because the west will zombienly follow buhari to daura next year...and there's no one(from the west) capable enough to compete with the minister of condolence and burial activities so he joined forces with SE&SS. the real battle now is the North.

I am quite happy Peter Obi is the running mate to Atiku, simply because he is a pragmatic and principled man.
He understands how a capitalist economy works and also understands that Government service is not to the exploitation of the massess.

Tinubu and Lagos were there in 2015, but APC beat PDP by only a narrow margin in the South West. There was voter apathy in South East as turn out was very low in that region in 2015. With this decision, SE got the motivation they need to turn out and vote where Atiku will win comfortably. PDP will still get a good percentage of votes from the SW regardless. PDap has a good percentage of the North central states, and half the states in NE except Borno, Yobe and maybe Bauchi. APC can take the North West, but PDP will sure get a good number of votes in Kano. So putting all these into consideration, it was an excellent decision

with combination, buhari will get less than 5% in South east and about 15 to 20% in ss. there will be voter apathy in South west. in north central and north east, 40-45 % and 45 to 55 votes for buhari respectively. buhari will clear north west with 60 to 65% votes. atiku is likely next president of nigeria.

Ghana former President Mahama lost the election with that mindset. The Volta Region are core NDC, during his tenure NDC felt that they already had the Volta Region in the kitty and then decided to do more projects in Kumasi etc (Core Opposition areas) in order to win over people in those areas.
Guess what happened, the area they felt they had in the kitty boycotted the election, they didn't vote for the opposition and didn't even vote for their own party.
The opposition won easy.
Lesson: Never take people for granted.
Ignoring the SE will backfire, there are no wrong or right answer. It's better to reward loyalty than try to win over the opposition.
