The information youprovided is valid, regarding some investment house, like investment one, which current rate on VGIF. Is currently 15.67%, I do it and I take, my interest at the end of the tenure, I have been running it for 3 straight years now,

Can you please provide further clarifications on VGIF rate as the value I obtained from their site is lower and moreover some few months ago, an agent advise me to go for Abacus with the excuse that the rate paid to me for VGIF will be lower than the advertised rate.

Am busy at the farm and I have low battery, do not listen to their staff asking you to go for abacus, just go for VGIf, once you lock in fund , is usually for a year, and the rate I show you on their site stand for the one year duration. , the rate is usually peg to the CBN, MPR, but I think it has been changed now to CBN, standard deposit rate or something, just stand your ground and do VGIF, as the rate is better than Abacus

This is Nigeria.
When it comes to investment, most people tend to go where they believe there fund is secured.
The banks are regulated more than most of this investment houses. That is why most people tend to trust them more.
There is no doubt when there is issue with your fund, a well known company will act fast to protect their integrity more than this unpopular .....
How about being able to locate a close branch when you are having a challenge that can't be resolved through phone/email.
.......... to be continued

I get your points bro, and I perfectly understand how consumer perception influence purchase decisions. However the key word here is perception. Perception is not necessarily an established fact, that's the summary of my point.

By the way, investment is not all about searching for a risk-free platform. FG TBills only appears as the safest because it involves a whole government. If your government however fails to remit funds as promised, please don't expect Zenith bank or GTB to pay you back because of "integrity" or "image". No real banker or investment banker anywhere in the world would lure you with the " zero-risk" factor because no investment is totally risk-free. I'm sure you also know that beyond the FG Tbills, States also offer TBills. By simply relying on your conventional bank, you would never really know much about these options.

That being said, all I'm asking is that we should open our minds a little bit so that people with useful info won't keep it to themselves out of fear of being castigated.

A poster mentioned investment one here and the phantom rates he got, but I'm sure some of us simply looked, ignored and termed it as "scam". However, a little personal research would have revealed to us that investment one was (and is still is) a subsidiary of GTBank.

That it is not known by all doesn't mean it is not reliable. You don't expect them to queue in marketplaces opening accounts for clients (apologies to GTB & FCMB), because many of these investment banks in Lagos Island are not interested in 10k, 50k kind of investments.

You have a point though. Some of these investment firms can give more specialized service as regards TBills and other fixed income instruments as its their core business. And there are a few well established and reputable firms out there. Some of them are even owned/partly owned by banks.

Election is around the corner, many investors will pause to invest further during this upcoming election period, due to fear of the unknown. Meanwhile, as demand decreases rate increases. The risk takers & strong minded individuals will make good money this time around.

Expect rates to increase during ending of November and December.

I could mention lot of factors that would necessitate interest rate increment by the CBN.

My TB will mature on 11th November or thereabout. I am projecting to lodge my funds for 364/days on an interest rate of 14.5%-15.5%.

I do not think so, because the meagre increase of 18k to 20k will have little or no effect on price of commodity.

Stanbic just got me confused. Got a free N200k and I fixed in tbills.
I was debited N194,215.89.
Also debited N300 TRN FEE.

And surprisingly, I just got another debit of N3,739.73 SFKP!!

Shocked. 91 days T.bills. What the hell is that, that is more than 50% of the upfront interest?

Please help.
Called customer care, and the gentleman at the other end said he'll get back to me later.

If this should be true, I will have to pause my investment, and continue after election. And what time of the month will that be @op?
