Why I Picked Peter Obi As My Running Mate – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, Friday night confirmed he had picked former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi as his running mate.

The confirmation was contained in a statement by the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCO).

APCO also gave reasons why Obi was picked, explaining that his choice was largely influenced by his youthfulness, vast knowledge of global and local economics as well as being a financial expert, an experience which it said Nigeria was in need of at this point in time.

The statement by the Director General, Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCO), Otuba Gbenga Daniels, described Obi as an astute professional who had laid his footprints across the corporate world.

Daniels said Obi, born on 19th July, 1961, attended the Christ the King College, Onitsha and later proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.

He said Obi was also a graduate of several international and national institutions such as the Lagos Business School, Harvard Business School, London School of Economics, Columbia Business School, Institute of Management, Switzerland, Kellogg Graduate School, Oxford University and Cambridge University.

He said Obi was the Chairman, Board of Security and Exchange Commission (SEC); former Chairman, Fidelity Bank PLC; former Chairman, Guardian Express Mortgage Bank; former Chairman, Future Views Securities; former Chairman, Paymaster Nigeria; former Chairman, Next International Nigeria; former Director, Guardian Express Bank PLC; former Director, Chams Nigeria PLC; former Director, Emerging Capital: former Director, Card Centre PLC.

Daniel said Obi is a member of the British Institute of Directors (IOD), Nigerian Chartered Institute of Bankers and Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).

Glad to see Atiku did not make the mistake of choosing Bode George or some Yoruba as his running mate.

Most of the Yoruba APC always wanted to vote Buhari and would never have thought of voting Atiku. However to ensure Atiku lost, the plan of the yoruba is to make Atiku to become antagonistic to SE and SS by choosing a Yoruba as his running mate. I'm glad Atiku did not fall for their media deceit.

Now is the time to get all the people complaining about the poor state of Nigerian economy and all the evil that have befallen Nigeria since 2015 to come out and VOTE. You have no right to complain about bad people in power when you decided not to vote for the good ones to win.

A big project like this, and no cranes?

Can't tell how serious they are with the project and if the finished product will be in keeping with what's shown in the render, until we see more of the ongoing job and the equipment being used!

From the little i see, looks a bit like one of those Rochas 'direct labour with head-pan' jobs!

Haha look at this clown without any identity.. I supported Ifeanyi Ubah over Bianca, while you in your usual foolishness supported Bianca, I guess Bianca won in your dreams? I'm not even an Ifeanyi Ubah fan, I said anyone but Bianca!

Dude, I don't need to prove I'm from Anambra, I'm from a popular family in Anambra and I'm not even saying your not from Anambra. I'm saying your not igbo! You don't know your identity! You were born and bred in Plateau State, grew up there until you emigrated to the US where you were wandering until Peter obi added you to this online team. When did you become Anambra? You cannot even contest governorship election in Anambra.

As for the very desperate Mr. Peter Obi, we are still waiting for his official confirmation after he staged his VP announcement on social media thereby arm twisting Atiku to pick him! We are really not concerned. I and my family will be voting the APGA presidential candidate in Anambra!

peter obi will be beaten silly again in Anambra

So because of local political differences,a full grown Igbo man that was well breastfed by an Igbowoman, would Now be kicking against Peter Obi VP candidature? Does this even make sense at all.
Kedu udili mmadu putachalu ofuu, anyi nwejulu na Alaigbo these days?

If you say you are against Obi because you are an IPOB member who believes in election boycott in Igboland until Biafra is achieved, I would understand, even though I would not support you.
But to say you would vote for anyone but Obi, mehn! That's messed up. Obi is repping Ndiigbo currently , if you have personal fight with him, learn to separate it from the current post he is holding.

Peter Obi bu nkeanyi kita. All hands must be on deck to take him to aso rock.

Did APC make Okorocha their presidential candidate?

We knew Okorocha has no clout in APC. He couldn't even get common house of rep speaker from APC for SE after 2015 victory.
They don't regard him. We were all amused at his talks of presidency, we know even him don't believe he stood any chance at winning the APC presidential candidature any moment in time. Not when Yorubas are positioning themselves for take over of the party after Buhari.

Let Okorocha win APC presidential candidature, and you will see how Ndiigbo will support him. Even I personally will be his number 1 cheerleader.

Re: . by onuebonyi: 4:35pm On Oct 13, 2018
I think Umahi wanted a situation where the VP slot zoned to the SE is further zoned to those areas that have not seen such office before. But this is more of qualification to defeat the incumbent clown at Aso Rock. Obi is the most suited southeasterner at the moment for the top job.

Igbos must not make the mistake of throwing all their support to PDP who is not even sure of Winning only to start crying marginalization if APC wins. It’s time for igbos to start playing smart politics and not emotions.
PDP must not be seen as Igbo party/ticket
Re: . by Nobody: 4:48pm On Oct 13, 2018
Let me use this opportunity to say a big congrats to Mr Peter Obi for being picked as VP. PDP did well this time around by rewarding the SE for it's steadfastness.
Although Obi wasn't my preference but a victory for him is still a victory for the Igbo nation. So every Igbo son whether in the SE or SS should cue in line. Whether Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta and Rivers, all should join the movement. The SE Governors forum are in support of the Atiku/Obi candidature despite the propaganda from our countrymen from the SW.
Obi may have his failing in the past as being accused by folks, (I inclusive) but who doesn't. Atleast no one can accuse him of corruption? I just hope this combo emerge victorious and it's my hope that Obi keep soaring and never fall into the pitfalls dug by the enemies. Today it's Ndi-Anambra representing us just as Ogun has represented the Yoruba nation since ages, tomorrow it may be an Ekweremadu from Enugu representing us, as long as they elevate the Igbo nation back to national reckoning and also touch the lives of Nigerian, so that we can all be proud to call it our own without shame. Our country shall be great again.
Kudos to the SS for standing by us, it a pointer to the saying 'I rub your back, you rub mine'. And also to other Nigerians who did not allow tribal lenses cloud their judgements. For standing by equity, the Igbo nation is grateful.
Lastly, we should now begin from today to arouse our people as never before. We must campaign in every nook and cranny in Alaigbo and to our brothers abroad to cast their votes massively for a new era. Everyone must get involved this time around. No sitting on the fence, but getting involved. We must throw our weight behind this team and make sure they win. Not by hate, nor tribalism but by nationalistic attitude to save our great ethnicity from political oblivion as well as save Nigeria our country from doom.
May God bless Atiku/Obi
May God bless Igboland
May God bless SS
May God bless all Nigerians

Southwest On Standby As Igbo Leaders Protest Obi’s Choice As Atiku Running Mate by WisdomFlakes: 1:56pm
The selection of Peter Obi as running mate to Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been met with protest by south-east leaders.

David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, says the leaders of the region were not consulted over the nomination of Obi.

He said the development contravened an initial agreement that the leaders will collectively endorse a candidate for any position zoned to the region.

Umahi, chairman of the south-east governors’ forum, said Igbo leaders and governors were sidelined in the selection process.

He said any position zoned the Igbo must be deliberated upon by the key stakeholders in the south-east.

The governor said he has no ax to grind with Obi but maintained that the right thing must be done by the PDP.

Umahi and some Igbo leaders are expected to hold a meeting on the matter, and may ultimately reject the nomination of Obi as the PDP’s vice-presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, the south-west is on standby to put forward a candidate from the region in the event that Igbo leaders reject Obi and fail to reach a consensus on a replacement.

The south-west and south-east were the two regions from which Atiku was expected to nominate his deputy after emerging PDP flag bearer for the 2019 presidential election.

The ex-vice president, however, opted to select a candidate from the south-east.

Atiku had explained that he picked Obi due to his “vast knowledge of global and local economics as well as being a financial expert, all experience which Nigeria is in great need at this point in time”.
