Atiku should bear in mind, SE politics is a different terrain devoid of leaders and kings, these supposed leaders advising him cant even dictate for their extended families talk more of SE.

He would loose the whole of SE/SS if he does not get a credible SE candidate as he has opted his VP from the region.

When you get a nod from the calibers whom commented above, you need to retrace your steps.
it's a lie...no matter who is presented as V.P; SE and SS will surely vote PDP.

The disunity and greed within Ndigbo is just annoying. Who are these bunch of jokers?

What is the point of consulting them before a VP is selected? For what use? Obi was selected not because of his tribe, but his capabilities. Should there be a ceremony afterwards? This is how they will spoil this thing for everybody now.

Give a man a gift, he says "well I'm not rejecting it, but I wasn't consulted first." Does that make sense?

Always making a mess of opportunities.

Consulting or not, Ekerenmadu, should not allow Umeahi, that work Buhari, to influence the PDP position. There could have no better candidate than Peter Obi for now, except Governor Uguanyi of Enugu state, gentle man like peter obi. So we are not scared of whatever they think

“We were shocked because we were not consulted. While we were meeting, Atiku sent message that he travelled out of the country for a short period. He promised to come down and meet with South-east leaders.”

The Zonal Vice chairman of PDP, Augustine Umahi, said the leaders of the party in the zone saw the news of Mr Obi’s nomination as the PDP’s running mate on social media.

“Our leaders are saying that we are not yet aware that such a thing (Obi’s appointment) happened.

“We have gotten in touch him (Atiku), he is traveling tonight and he promised that when comes back we shall meet in that.

“Peter Obi is our son, and is from South-east, we are not rejecting or accepting him but we are saying is that we are not aware, you cannot shave a man in his absence,” he said.

There is something terribly wrong with our people in this country. Even if they were given the opportunity to consult among themselves and project a candidate, it will still be a deadlock. A group of people, enemies of their own progress.

No consultations needed. Atiku has the right to pick anybody he likes as his running mate. Must there be protocols in everything?

He made a very intelligent choice, forming the best team ever.

With these two, it's forward ever, backward never for our dear Country.

Or did any of you think it was going to be him? Atiku, carry go, I stand with you.

They are expecting their own dollars.

MrAJQ:
http://sunnewsonline.com/why-seast-govs-leaders-moved-against-obi-as-atikus-vice/
Exclusive: Why S’East govs, leaders moved against Obi as Atiku’s vice
Facts have emerged why the PDP governors and leaders in the Southeast are kicking against the choice of former governor of Anambra State governor, Mr Peter Obi as the party’s vice presidential candidate. The Atiku action has torn the South East chapter of the party apart.
According to an impeccable party source who pleaded anonymity, the governors and some of the leaders of the party in the zone have accused Atiku of reneging on his earlier promise and vowed to work against his candidacy .
The PDP chieftain told Sunday Sun that Atiku had earlier promised to use the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo as his running mate.
The chieftain who is also a Senatorial candidate in Anambra State said that the Southeast governors and some PDP leaders from the zone were working on endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari, since according to him, Atiku has shown that they do not matter in his political calculations .
“There will be peace if Soludo is made the running mate because that was what we agreed,” he said.
Asked if they still would have protested if former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was chosen by Atiku he said: “There is no problem with her, but Soludo is better. You know the woman is difficult, when you go to her for anything she will accuse you of wanting to be given the resources of the country.
“There was a meeting in Enugu over this. Three governors came – Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi. Ebonyi Governor (Dave Umahi) is the Chairman of South East Governors’ Forum, he is angry over what happened.”
Governor Umahi had last Friday issued a statement dissociates himself from a release by his Chief Press Secretary, where the choice of Obi was hailed.
He said that the governors and leaders of the zone were not consulted before Atiku settled for Obi.
He explained that yesterday’s meeting by the governors and leaders of the party was to agree that Obi and his people would not have their way.
He disclosed that he had met with Atiku and his wife and told them that Obi’s choice cannot sell in Igbo land.
His words: “I met with Atiku’s wife on this, she said that I am a businessman, that the business environment will be made good, that Atiku will make things good. That is no promise.”
On where Governor Willie Obiano stood on the matter, he said: “How are you asking this type of question? Obiano totally rejects Obi. Obi has lost four governors from Southeast. APC already has Imo, so the entire five Southeast states are in the hands of APC. The zone is for Buhari. ”
Asked if Governor Umahi was serious on his threats, he said, “very serious. He is ready to work for Buhari.”
Narrating how they came about Soludo, the PDP henchman claimed that he and some leaders of the party held a meeting three months ago where Atiku promised him to pick his vice presidential candidate from the Southeast.
“He told us that the person he had in mind was Soludo and Anambra governor also supported it.
“I was instrumental to him winning the nomination. We started this spin doctor job months ago. Atiku met with me several times alongside Gbenga Daniel. He came to my house many times.
“After he was nominated, he went back on his promise, he changed completely and now brought Peter Obi instead of Soludo that we agreed upon. This is why all the Southeast governors and PDP leaders are kicking. Everybody is mad at Atiku for that singular decision.
“I heard Atiku said he did not consult us because PDP governors from Southeast voted for Tambuwal, that they did not vote for him.
“He said that Wike agreed that Peter Obi should be his running mate. But in doing that, he jettisoned the promised he made to us that we will choose the person that will take the slot.
“Like I said there is fire at the moment. Governors of Ebonyi, Anambra, Enugu and Abia are angry. Governor of Enugu said he has discussed with a former governor in the Southeast that he will vote according to his conscience. He said that everybody deserves a second term, that Buhari deserves second term. He said that he as governor of Enugu needs second term, so he will not stop the president from enjoying second term. He said he will support the president if he seeks second term.”
Apart from other reasons they adduced for opposing the choice of former Anambra governor, he contended that
“Peter Obi is not a liberal politician, he is a conservative. His candidacy will not sell. Many of us who know him very well know that he is unreliable, tricky and selfish. He says one thing and does another. There is a problem in the PDP house and if it is not handled well it will jeopardize Atiku’s ambition.
“I will soon come out to say all that I am telling you publicly. I feel cheated by Atiku. I have complained to friends. Atiku’s wife has begged me, but I refused to accept her pleas.
“I have resolved to work for Buhari and I know that several other people are doing same.”

This is why the Igbos will never be taken seriously. The reason they will never rule this country. See the bunch of idiotic self serving goats...

Stupid corrupt fools..
Atiku seived through the whole of SE and found only one man that has some semblance of incorruptibility, integrity and which people from all over the country immediately agreed with. The idiots want to put a stooge they can kick out easily all because they want to be president after Atiku.

What is wrong with the Igbo Nation? I am proudly Yoruba and I and my people are atikulated despite the fact that the present VP is my kinsman and we know he is a better man than the Obi but we want the lifeless man out..

Igbos, if you like, spoil your only chance at a shot to presidency. No other Man will be accepted by the people has VP. The only Igbo man with integrity in the whole of PDP is Obi. If you guys dont want him.. you can as well put Okorocha.. Idiots..

illiteracy and neophytes in politics know nothing about political consultation and alignment. as it stands now obi wasn't the leader of PDP in the entire southeast, so umahi and other PDP leaders their need to be consulted though Atiku can take obi to their meeting, that's still consultation and that's what the governors were saying. of course they will rally round him but before announcing him PDP stakeholders in East need to be consulted

does Atiku even consult PDP in West or he thought OBJ that had become political liability in west endorsement will aid him to win west? weak Lagos PDP party should even give him a clue

what about south south, was wike who's known PDP leader in south and other PDP gov consulted before picking the VP

does North PDP stakeholders OK obi as his running mate as well?

and you think Atiku will win with this nonsense. the downfall of KANU since the day he started his authoritarian talk without consultation will know the end talkless of a demarket Atiku that need thorough conviction. OBJ was see as a thief and chameleon here because of his past 8yrs regime which didn't exonerate Atiku and he picked VP out of the region even break the vein of his hope

Remarks By Mr Oseloka H. Obaze, PDP Candidate in the 2017 Anambra State Gubernatorial Elections.

At the Emergency Meeting of PDP South-East Zone, held at 3p.m. On 13/10/18,

At the Enugu Zonal Office, 16 Iyienu Street, Independence Layout, Enugu.

Mr. Vice-Chairman, we have been summoned here to deliberate on a very important issue. Although, my understanding is that we are gathered to articulate the way forward for Ndiigbo, I suspect that as always, they are some of us here, who will display their skills of pulling their relatives and friends down. What I’m about to say comes from the heart and from my personal experience. In 2017, I ran and lost a governorship election, not because I was a bad or unqualified PDP candidate, but because some within my PDP family in Anambra and beyond worked against me. Today, our state and our party are paying the price, even as I have forgiven those who worked against my candidacy.

On today’s agenda, I will resort to a historical narrative. On 6th October 2014, a PDP delegation led by the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekwerumadu and Chief Olisa Metuh, the then Publicity Secretary, who represented the National Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Adamu Muazu visited Peter Obi at his residence at 22 Niger Drive, Onitsha to ask him to join our great party, PDP.

In the words of Chief Metuh, the visit was as a “result of the resolution by the entire South-East to pay him a visit and persuade him to join the PDP for more meaningful contribution to national affairs.” In his response, Mr Peter Obi, told the PDP party bigwigs that, “I am humbled by the visit.” Furthermore, he said, “I thank you for your continued belief and commitment to the welfare of our people and the progress of our country. I have in the past worked closely with all of you and you know my belief about our zone working together. I assure you that we will continue to work even closer as a team in the interest of our people. Regarding your visit of today let me assure you that I heard your kind and passionate requests and that your journey would not be in vain but in the best interest of our people. ”Thereafter Peter Obi joined PDP.

What Changed? Is Peter Obi not one of us? In our language, “even a mad man has relatives”; whom you may only identify when the mad man is being beaten in public and they come to his defense. Similarly, in American politics, there is an instructive saying; “he is a son-of-a-gun, but he is our own son-of-a-gun.” I have not been in partisan politics long, but I am a political scientist by training. And I do research and write, so let me share with you some basic historical realities. We are talking of Zonal consultation on the vice presidential ticket. When did it start? Or is this meant to be a first?

In 1979, Shehu Shagari did not consult south-east NPN before choosing Alex Ekwueme as his running mate. Indeed, Ekwueme who was then resident in London had been introduced to Shehu Shagari by the late Sir Joe Nwankwu. In 1999, Olusegun Obasanjo did not consult the Northeast PDP leaders before he selected Atiku Abubakar. Indeed, Atiku having won the gubernatorial election in his state was driving to Adamawa on the fateful day when he got a call to return to Abuja to meet Obasanjo and become his running mate. In 2007, Umaru YarAdua did not consult the south-south PDP leadership before picking Goodluck Jonathan. Rather, after Peter Odili was blocked as presidential candidate, it was James Ibori that YarAdua wanted as his running mate. It was the trio of Ahmadu Ali, Olusegun Obasanjo and Tony Anenih who decided, without any consultations with the region on Jonathan in order to block some PDP governors who were scheming to nominate another person after the rejection of Peter Odili as presidential candidate.

In these three instances, I mentioned, the respective regionsembraced rather than repudiate or reject their sons. Will the turn of southeast be different? Quo Vadis Ndiigbo? Are we to understand that after we have waited for thirty-five years to get a VP slot on a PDP ticket that is a winning combination, we are about to waste it on account of our not being consultedzonally? Would we rather the VP slot go elsewhere and wait another 35 years? How do we explain our malign attitude and that outsiders have accepted one of our sons, but we are the ones that seek to tag him “an outcast” and therefore unacceptable to the nation? What is it we seek at the bottom of the pot but fish?

R*(24

Mr. Vice-Chairman, the Biafran war ended 48 years ago and the Igbo nation is yet to recover fully. Now a historical opportunity beckons; an opportunity to actualize the mainstreaming of the Igbo Nation, and we are bickering as to which of our sons will lead the charge. Our disposition, I dare say is myopic and defeatist.

I have heard corridor talks about passing a resolution to repudiate the selection of Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate. I hope that those who champion such causes will also have the courage to sign their name to the resolution, so that in the fullness of time our posterity will appreciate our folly. Mr. Vice-Chairman, the two distinct vagaries of history is that “only victors write history” and that “historians claim to be able to recover the past.” So let me end on a historical note. If we lose the present opportunity to produce the VP due to the whims of a few among us, Ndiigbo will never recover the past. And history will be unkind to us all, myself included. Discretion and circumspection is the word! Let those who have tongues count their teeth correctly. Thanks.

The masses of the SE prefer Peter Obi.
A SE VP pick is the most important reason that Atiku won't be President.
Atiku was NOT going to be President anyway but I have seen 70% of governors in Nigeria don't support Atiku.
90% of governors will work against him ..that includes the few governors who like him.

This Umahi guy is the best SE governor ever and the future is bright for him.

Just lopk at them the announcement has barely been made they have started complaining. The same people will pull him down if Atiku wins.

This isn't about VP, they know that with a brilliant performance peter obi will likely become a major contender for the presidency when the time comes.
This is more than 2019, and it shows the greed of the so called Igbo governors.

Its not greed, its arrogance. I'm Igbo but frankly, I'm sick of the arrogance of an average Igbo man.

Especially from those born and brought up in the south east. Arrogance deprives us of plenty and adds nothing but stupidity and enemity.

I hope that evil spirit leaves us soon.

This is an insight to why we are where we are in this country, merit placed below politics, in case you are wondering why we are like this, there is your answer.

I understand their plights, two different people from no where highjacked there platform just like that. But they should swallow the pill and move on.

I don't envy Politicians I tell you because of the torments of conscience, oh yes no better tormentor like conscience, thank God for conscience and I pray that God torments those responsible for the plights of our people in a million folds in Jesus name.
