Funnicator: Thanks, My criticism has absolutely nothing to do with the VP thing. I had made a similar statement before about this issue even before all this brouhaha over VP. For the record, I don’t really care about who becomes the president of this shitehole. It’s going to be more of the same anyway. Restructuring is not going to happen anytime soon. At least not while they pumping valuable hydrocarbons from the ND. It’s also doubtful that Atiku is going to have any success at the polls. We talking about a despot called Mumuharri here. However, I very concerned about the future of our homeland. The key ingredient in that future are our children. We must educate them. It’s really important. In some countries, parents face prison terms for not sending their wards to school. Apart from that, Umahi’s approach reminds me so much of Roaches. Use the first term to do some dazzling prestige projects while ignoring needed programs (all with borrowed funds) then come back for the second term and institute a disaster. 1 Like |

Curled from babygiwa Enugu introduces 50% discount in land use charges. In consideration of requests made by property owners in Enugu and in consonance with its commitment to the wellbeing of the people, the administration of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has approved a 50 percent discount on accrued land use charges in the state. Briefing newsmen on the outcome for the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting, the Commissioner for Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA), Barr. Chid Aroh, who expressed the council’s delight at the huge success the state government recorded in its education sector reform, following Master Anthony Okeke’s wining of the Prestigious NNPC prize for the best student in science, stated that only debtors who pay their land use charges on or before December 31, 2018 will benefit from the discount. Barr. Aroh also stated that the council also approved immediate completion work on the abandoned Agbani District Hospital, stating that the state government had commenced similar projects in the two District hospitals in Udi and Enugu North Local Government Areas. Shedding more light, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji noted that the health institutions in the state have continued to receive tremendous improvement under the present administration. Engr. Nnaji therefore, disclosed that “the Poly Clinic Asata, Enugu has been completed and functioning”, adding that “at the last EXCO, various state-of-the-art medical equipment required to make it function fully were approved”. He further disclosed that the Udi District Hospital is 95 percent completed, stressing the approval for commencement of completion work on Agbani District Hospital was another demonstration that the present administration is committed to the completion of projects started by past administrations. The Commissioner for ECTDA, further told newsmen that the council equally approved the conduct and release of promotion exercise for staff of the Local Government Areas for 2017 by the Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, requesting that the report of the exercise should thereafter be presented to EXCO for further consideration and directives. Barr. Aroh also said that the council directed all MDAs of governments, institutions and organizations to ensure they pay their taxes promptly, including VAT and withholding taxes to enable the state government meet all its obligations to the people as a responsible body. He equally stated that the EXCO further directed the state’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to immediately commence “the construction of 1km near-inaccessible road from 9th Mile Corner-Opi road" leading to the new site at Okpatu hills, where the TV/Radio mast of the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) was being relocated to from Ngwo for aviation safety. The state’s Ministry of Housing, according to Barr. Aroh, was asked to construct perimeter fence, transmitter and generator houses, and a four-bedroom apartment staff quarters to ensure urgent relocation of the transmitting station and mast. The ECTDA commissioner revealed that the council, in keeping with the determination of the administration of Gov. Ugwuanyi to uphold the vision and monumental heritage of the Hotel Presidential Enugu, approved the immediate reconstruction of the perimeter fence and the three gate houses, directing that three consultants be invited to present cost estimates for the renovation of the main building of the hotel as well as other facilities including the lawn tennis court, the swimming pool, the pool bar and the pool chalets. Other council approvals, according to the commissioner include the approval granted to state’s Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) to commence the procurement processes for the award of contracts for water harvesting project works at the estimated cost of $500,000; the revalidation of the on-going consultancy service for the supervision of the rehabilitation/construction of roads in the state (phase one) awarded to National Engineering Services Pakistan Ltd/Allot Nigeria Ltd and HS Group, Jordan by Enugu RAMP II, amounting to $992,760.50; the payment of the sum of $73,077.90 due to three companies; and the publication of the Specific Procurement (SPN) for bids for the 21 numbers River Crossing in two national dailies. Obiano Explores Partnership with Cambridge Innovation Center, Boston By James Eze The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano yesterday visited the famous Cambridge Innovation Centre in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Boston, Massachusetts in search of ideas that would nurture technological talent in the state as demonstrated by the five Anambra school girls who won a Gold Medal at the World Technovation Challenge in the Silicon Valley in San Francisco, USA. Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) is one of the leading technology incubation centers in the world where smart tech-heads with bright ideas are given an ideal environment to evolve innovative ideas and a strategic platform to pitch their ideas to venture capitalists who have the financial resources to fund new technological ideas. The Center is located in the heart of MIT and usually patronized by brilliant graduates from Harvard, MIT, Boston University and many other leading Ivy League universities in New England and beyond. Conducting Governor Obiano and his team around the facility, the Relationship Manager of the Centre, Kristyn Fratus explained that the volume of funds that was available to Centre was many times the volume of venture capital available to all of the United Kingdom. Governor Obiano’s mission in the Centre was to carry out a first-hand assessment of the place, discuss possibilities of partnership and adapting the model to jump-start his dream of turning Anambra State into a leading technological hub in the West African region; a move which he started by inaugurating the Anambra State Creative Economy Council shortly after he took the oath for his second term in office. Governor Obiano believes that Anambra youths have enough creative flare and brain power to contribute to the on-going global hi-tech race but lack the environment that would inspire them to bring out their best. While on tour of the Center, the Governor interacted with young bright tech-heads at the Innovation Café and discussed the possibilities of their visiting Anambra State to interact with the youth and offer new hi-tech solutions to the developmental needs of the state. One of the bright tech-heads the governor met with at the Center is Nigeria’s Ezinne Uzo-Okoro who had spent fourteen years at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and 22-year old Indo-Swiss, Divyanshu Varshney, founder and president of virtual reality company among many others. Governor Obiano left the center convinced that he had found the solution he needed to harness the creative potentials of Anambra youths which were on full display during a recent talent hunt organized by the Ministry for Youth Entrepreneurship in Awka. The Governor was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Mr Primus Odili, his Principal Secretary, Sir Willie Nwokoye, Member Representing Ayamelum in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Uche Okafor and Alex Onukwue, National President of Anambra State Presidents General. He may not win the SE convincingly in 2019, but the governors will ensure he gets the appropriate percentage to cruise him to victory. 1 Like |

http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2018-10/14/c_137530932.htm OWERRI, Nigeria, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- A leading Chinese green industry enterprise Elion Resources Group on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Nigeria as part of its exploration of investment opportunities in the country, particularly in desertification control, agriculture and development of new energy resources. A delegation of the group led by Wang Wenbiao, its president, met and signed the MoU with the government of Imo State in the country's southern region, with the two parties expressing their readiness to unlock and harness the potential of natural gas resources to increase domestic and industrial power supply, raise people's living standard and support sustainable economic growth and diversification. Imo, with an estimated population of 5 million, is the fifth largest Nigerian state by gross domestic product and one of the states with high reserves of natural gas. Elion Resources Group, which was founded in 1988 in Kubiqi, one of China's deserts, aims to restore eco-environment and broaden its business to other environmentally-related areas, as well as realize the aim of using 100 percent renewable energy by 2030. Wang said the investment exploration in Nigeria followed the success of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit in Beijing last month, in which China proposed green development as part of eight new initiatives to strengthen and broaden cooperation with Africa. He said Elion Resources Group and the Imo State government was considering forest restoration, clean energy, electricity, and power based on clean energy as likely areas of cooperation within the shortest possible time. "I think coming to Nigeria will help in boosting the economy, education and poverty alleviation," said Wang, who earlier met President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the Chinese firm's intention on the sidelines of the Beijing summit of FOCAC. Speaking on the partnership, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo said the desire of Elion Resources Group to invest in the state would go a long way to solve its power generation challenges. "Elion can develop the power sector of our economy. All our problems have been that of power, and gas is power. We have been waiting for this long to see who can move our gas into power so that the economic life of the people can change," Okorocha said. According to the governor, the investment move will also shore up the economy of Imo State and create employment in a geometric progression. He said a technical committee has been set up to design a proper framework of cooperation between the two partners within a period of two months after which a commercial agreement will be signed. 1 Like |

The good thing is that he and other (stupid) govs have seen that their plans are not only unpopular but anti people. horsepower101: I've stopped getting excited about all these ambitious big-ticket projects, whether they're gov't or private sector driven. More so, if it's located anywhere in the south east! There are many examples we can point to of snazzy, ambitious projects planned for the SE that were either still-born or stalled for a myriad of reasons, chief of which are ethnic politics (envy and hatred of Ndigbo by the usual suspects), inadequate planning at the conceptual stage, or investors pulling out due to the usual and inevitable logistic Nigerian problems that are bound to arise at some point! There are certain things that must be included or assured of before this project would be a success. These are: guaranteed funding (and we're talking of billions of dollars here); a seaport and int'l airport or direct rail access to them; adequate power supply; and adequate security. If these can be guaranteed, then this project would work. |

basilo101: Charles Ogbu is with Charles Sunday. There is a certain group of Nigerians I don't understand, And no, it is not that inebriated APC mole called governor Engr. Dave Umahi who thinks himself the Ezemmuo 1 of Alaigbo that must be consulted. Umahi is simply angry that Peter Obi's emergency will secure Igbo vote for Atiku and thereby scuttle his undercover plan of delivering vote for Buhari with the hopeless hope of him handing over power to him in 2023. So I'm not talking about Umahi. I'm not even talking about people who still support a lifeless outgoing President who seem unaware of even his own existence. Those ones are beyond redemption. And, I'm certainly not talking about some of my own people who despite suffering the heaviest casualty under the Buhari govt have decided to help the Buhari affliction rise again by choosing not to vote. Though I remain fundamentally opposed to this idea but I am under a moral obligation to respect their right to do their thing AS LONG AS THEY RESPECT MINE. I am talking about a certain category of Nigerians (mostly Abroadians) who despite agreeing that Buhari represents a grave existential threat to every living thing in Nigeria, still go about demonizing, shaming and emotionally blackmailling people for supporting Atiku who is the only ACTIONABLE OPTION to send the Buhari plague out of Asorock even when these people have failed to give us another ACTIONABLE ALTERNATIVE to retire the cowman President. Quite frankly, I don't understand these people. Instead of demonizing Atiku supporters which we all know will only benefit the Buhari camp, why don't they simply come out to tell us they have been recruited by the Buhari Media Center (BMC) to use corner corner style campaign for Buhari? To These People, please read me well, we are not ATIKUlating because we like or trust Atiku/PDP per se. Far from it. We are ATIKUlating because REALISTICALLY SPEAKING, PDP/Atiku is the only party with the needed nationwide structure to end Buhari's devilish regime. It has nothing to do with love for Atiku or the PDP. Even your attempt to remind us that Atiku is Fulani is a very dumb move because our problem with President Muhammadu Buhari has never been with his ethnicity. After all, the good man, late President Umar Yar'Adua was a Fulani Muslim from the same Katsina as Buhari. Nigerians oppose Buhari because he has conclusively proven he is a historical human tragedy whose reign witnessed and is still witnessing more mass burials than wedding ceremonies. Please, instead of telling us how Atiku robbed the central bank of Western Germany before the birth of Adam, can you just tell us your own ACTIONABLE ALTERNATIVE to removing Buhari in 2019? If you can't, then, kukuma admit you are working for Buhari so we can know how to place you Signed, a voluntary ATIKUlator, Charles Ogbu. 4 Likes |
