From what I saw again in the second half, Our team lacks flank players. Most especially an inverted winger.

S. Kalu is good but he is far from Victor Moses. Can't believe some folks were comparing him to Walcott. I hope he grows and develop into a better player. But if Rohr, won't allow biasness to becloud his judgement, Simon Moses is way ahead of this Bordeaux winger.

Henry was average in the recent two matches he played.

Ighalo will continue to perform as long as he does not pick up is 'hold up play' style. He was our best player in the two legged encounters.

Ndidi seems to be exhausted... Dude has not been performing in recent time. He did nothing spectacular today.

Etebo on the other hand is just like an electric switch that on and off at will. Very unpredictable. One match he is good and another he becomes a passenger. He needs to be consistent if he must reach the very top.

Overall, the team needs a Midfield maestro who will be the comptroller general. Mikel is the only thing we've got. None of our present Midfielders can control play.

Iwobi is our solution to the creative headache ravaging the team for a while now. Dude was unplayable in the final third always providing those inch-perfect passes. He simply possesses the key to unlocking defenses. But he needs an equally talented and good CMF to help ease things. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, We will find one before Mikel finally calls it over.

Aina will always be Aina. The guy looses concentration easily. Repeated same mistake today. His hesitation gifted our opponent thier second goal. venturing forward and he was caught out of position few times. Nonetheless he is a better option to Shehu at RB.
Ebuehi still thumps both... Can't wait to have him back.

Finally, Rohr didn't learn one single thing at the World Cup. His decision making is poor. Ighalo saved the day today nothing more. No single tactical input from the man in the second half. Only saw him gesturing that the team should move out... Hahaha.

Time for iheanchio to step up his game too. Now we won't complain again when Ighalo starts.

It has a lot to do with rohr..all d player on d pitch just played 90mins+ 3days ago..so d coach ought to av figured out ahead dt dey would be fatigued at some point during d match wc would necessitate new legs to b introduce,it was obvious dt after 60mins+,we lost d midfield battle to d Libyans wc resulted to deir equaliser, had it been he made d change earlier, our players would av re organize demselves and gain d rhythm of d match.however, we av won,wc is d koko cool
And the Libyans didn't play the same match 3days ago?
The midfield was empty because everyone was either upfront or behind which I believe is player's tactical indiscipline

Anyway as you rightly said, we won. Hallelujah

Bonaventure does not start anymore in Brugge. There is no argument to invite him right now.

Henry hasn't been given enuf chance like dt...but from d few minutes he has played so far..he.hasn't been too convincing compared to d hype we read on dis thread abt him(National team performance wise) cool

I think uzoho fumbling shows that he really is AROUND the age he claims to be.

Also, Plot twist: Ighalo is on nairaland and all the criticism on this thread has made him sit up!

Ola aina was a suspect! Balogun looks match rusty, he must push for a regular spot at brighton.

Jamilu colins is doing good things.
and the few minutes henry was afforded, he threatened.

Were our players fawking ladies before the match or what? It's strange how they all completely gassed out after 60 minutes or so.

@Danielnino00
Earlier on in the evening you insinuated Musa was a poor player.

You still hold on to that bah?

Okay.

Onyekuru got better time today. What was impact like? On the ball, how good was his call? He was wayyyyyyyy better on the pitch today bah?!

Okay.

There was a time I wasn't keen on arguments here. I know why. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Stop being sentimental, tactical substitutions are made to counter the opposition threat which was what the Libyan coach did and what did your coach do? If he can't react in the first half OK but what about the second half when libya made another change, some players were getting tired so is it a sin to bring in fresh players?

Ok, let me chip in here.

When you make substitutions it can either make or mar you.

When you are leading in a game it is usually safer to maintain the shape that got you that lead.

A team that is chasing a game has nothing to lose if the substitution turns out to make things worse. Cos a lose is a lose. But making that substitution gives them a chance or probability of introducing a player or formation that can change things.

Rohr maintained the shape of that team because he knew they were capable of getting more goals if the need arises.

Onyekuru came in for a sapped out Kalu. Ogu also came in for Sapped out Etebo. Even with these substitutions he still maintained the shape of the team. The only major tactical switch was the introduction of Ajayi for Iwobi. You may say this last substitution came late but Rohr had his reasons for keeping it that late, of which I think it may be related to Uzoho being on a yellow card. What if he gets a second yellow and we had exhausted all our substitutions already?

The minimum we needed from this tie was 4pts. Even at 2-2, we were still meeting the minimum result required for the tie so no need to twist things so dramatically as if u are chasing a game. This is called tie management.

When ur opponent changes a player and the Newly introduced player seems to be causing troubles u may not necessarily need to react by only making ur own substitution. U may just instruct certain players to keep an eye on the new player or instruct one or two players to provide support when the new danger man goes on the offensive.

Hahhahah, Dennis?, more over some people was saying Kalu wing was porous today and I was thinking if he was playing a wing back position, dude was ok today, the coach just make things difficult makin changes is now luxury, It was obvious kalu, Ndidi, etebo and even Ighalo was tired but the man no dey see am.
with this predictability we may lose again against south africa.

No be the same stiff neck make am stick with Ighalo. Let's look at the positives too lol

sontoly:
Ighalo is winning our hearts back, proving to critics he still got it, including me.
But he should thank Rhor for sticking with him cos if its another coach I dont think the story will be the same.
As for Rhor, I hate his substitutions, very stingy with sub, dude will wait till its 75min and above before making sub even if it is a dead rubber game. Am afraid he is not learning anything new, someone should tell him this he is too rigid with sub and changes.

If we don't watch it we may lose another 3 points, He may forget that Ndidi or someone else is ineligible to play next game, the man just be like robot grin grin

What a game that was..The boys tried.. But that Libya second goal could have been avoided.. The lack of regular playing time.is already telling off on Balogun and Uzoho..
Uzoho in particular needs some serious competition...

Rohr ought to have made his sub earlier on...it's like the man is too stubborn to.learn..the same attitude that cost us yje Argentina game in Russia almost cause us again today.. Etebo should have been subbed off for Ogu earlier on so.as to slow.down the tempo of the game...

Iwobi needs to work on his shooting.. I don't like it when he finds himself in a goalscoring position and will decide to pass instead of shooting. Kalu too needs to buckle up.. He is far from being the correct replacement for Moses... Same goes to Onyekuru..

I'm really happy for Ighalo though.. He has gotten back the love from the fans.. Likewise Musa.

Overall I'm glad we won.. our afcon qualification is 90% secured.. but we have to pah south Africa back in their own coin first.. grin. We must!!

BTW,somebody should constantly remind Rohr and the NFF technical committee that Ndidi is suspended for the south Africa game...We don't want another Shehu incident o...

I couldn't watch the first leg but was able to catch every minute of the 2nd leg.

Congratulations to Ighalo, I was in his camp after the SA loss and had to desert him after his prolonged barrenness in front of goal for the SE.

I'm happy with his recent form, and pray he's a bit more consistent this time.

And the eagles make it to the AFCON for the first time in a while!!

We won...any other thing is secondary for now...OF WHAT USE TO US IF WE PLAY GOOD FOOTBALL AND LOSE?

I hold any other comment against the coach and team...they did the needful...full stop...top of the group now...

One positive---we have started scoring high number of goals since Rohr took over...three and fours

Seven goals in two matches and conceding just two

In my opinion only Kalu's sub wasn't timely as it was his wing that look the most porous.

None of the sub caused as much trouble as their guy wearing 6

And that was where the goal came from. wink

You blamed everybody except Aina

Aina had a decent game today IMO . Though he hasn't stopped the habit of losing concentration especially before Libya second goal.. He was close to the ball and could have cleared it before the Libya player scored..

Anyway,it's left to be seen if his performance is enough to convince Rohr that he should b given the role..

but if Rohr still pick Shehu ahead of him next month,I won't complain...

Dedicating this win today to those who always have one player who is better than the player the coach started and to those who are always downplaying the coach and team's effort. You people should continue.

I'm glad my submissions after our last game are beginning to gain more weight.

Being on the bench for brighton ain't good for Balogun and neither is the lack of serious competition for Uzoho. I doubt Uzoho is the best Goalie we have (over 160million people). haba!!

Uzoho has no business keeping goal for us. Dude's ball distribution is totally poor. If not for the fact that he is based abroad, we wouldn't even be looking his way. He can stop a few shots yes, but so can Afelokhai and Ezenwa.

With his fumblings today i hope the coach learns and gets us a decent keeper. Afelokhai wouldn't be a bad idea. Even Ezenwa is better. At least Ezenwa can make decent clearances.

3 bad outings? You are watching the back of your tv

In the first match he got a penalty, scored in the second match and did not play badly in the third

Do you think this is pes where you assembly new eleven together and start having chemistry and playing well

As for me, Rohr should invite a maximum of two new persons for the AFCON and let the team develop chemistry and play together

Super Eagles Player Ratings: Ighalo Top Man; Musa Asset; Iwobi Genuine No 10; Aina Shows Offensive Prowess
Allnigeriasoccer.com rates Nigeria players for their performances during the 3-2 win over Libya on Tuesday.

The Starters

Francis Uzoho 5/10 : Earning his 12th cap for Nigeria, Uzoho was jittery at times. He made some good saves too.

Ola Aina 5.5/10 : Ola put in a solid shift. Did well up against at the back, while always offering support to Kalu further up the pitch.

Jamilu Collins 5/10 : The left back improved as the game went on.

William Troost Ekong 6.5/10 : Ekong put in a commanding performance in the center of defense. Made six interceptions, three clearances and won two aerial duels.

Leon Balogun 6/10 : Was solid enough for the Super Eagles.

Wilfred Ndidi 6.5/10 : He was the controller in midfield, and did a fine job up. Provided a link between the defence and attack, and moved the ball much quicker.

Oghenekaro Etebo 6/10 :The Stoke City star held his own in the middle of the park.

Alex Iwobi 7/10: Proved he has what it takes to play as an attacking midfielder. His performance should give him the confidence to become a permanent fixture at number 10.

Ahmed Musa 7.5/10 : Constant threat down the left wing, bamboozling the opposition on several occassions, Musa put the performance many were waiting for in an Eagles shirt. His skill set up the first goal, while he grabbed the second of the night.

Samuel Kalu 5/10 :Didn't have the same impact that Musa had on the opposite wing, but looked full of running on the right wing, and held the ball well.

Odion Ighalo 9/10 :Man of the match. Ighalo netted a brace showed many good touches and held the ball up well for his teammates.

The Substitutes

John Ogu 5.5/10 : He made a few interceptions and covered well for his team.

Henry Onyekuru 6/10: Came on in the 80th minute and added more life to the attack. Almost scored but saw his effort go wide of the far post.

Semi Ajayi (N/A) : Cameo. Not enough minutes to be rated.
