bizme:Enough of the argument brother. There must always be differences in reasoning. Arguing with a learner is simply a waste of time he's still growing. Wait till he's grown. |

bizme:Chairman, my argument is more on the major distributors. They are the ones that have made our drug market chaotic! The patent medicine dealers are meant to sale over-the-counter medicines to the rural people, but you and I know that these guys deal more on the prescription drugs than the OTCs and trade more even in the cities than the rural areas. How do they have access to prescription based drugs? Of course from the dealers. This is why I advocate closure of all open drug markets in Nigeria and a more controlled drug distribution system, where government at all levels will invest and manned by qualified pharmacists. This way, we would be sure that the patent medicine dealers get only the OTCs. I have been affected by this uncontrolled drug system we have in Nigeria, hence my concern. I lost my dad to gentamycin 280mg administered by one of the quack nurses we have in the country. All in the name of treating a so called infection, she loaded him with several doses of the drug and the man came down with kidney failure. This is just one of several cases of people being sent to their early graves by uncontrolled drug administration. Such couldn't have happened had ours been a sane society where untrained people don't have access to such drugs. Talking about not having adequate manpower to run pharmacy schools, that's not entirely true. We have many academic pharmacists all over the world who will be interested in coming down here to work if we do the right thing. Please, I never talked down on pharmacists, aside where I rightly stated that SOME of them trade their licenses for peanuts with drug dealers. You seem to be bent on pitching me against my respected colleagues. That's not fair! 1 Like |

A pharmacist with an industry cannot be compared to a Doctor with hospital in terms of the money they make. Emzor is richer than the most successful doctor in Nigeria. I have blog designed for prospective pharmacy students including pharmacy students. The topics scan from scholarships, admission procedure etc. It is better to check it on my signature for more details 2 Likes 1 Share |

Uyi168: Well, how would you know if he's actually right. . Have u studied Veterinary medicine b4? The so called pharmacy u did is being studied by Vet too atleast to some degree from 200 to 600l. 400l excluded.. I don't see the big deal to studying pharmacy if u love it and I don't see any reason to cram if u understand what you're being taught. Besides pharmacy in Nigeria is limited mostly to selling drugs to be honest and y'll know that even though some few are living up to the full potential of the course. 1 Like |

Toyyibayinde: If you plan on working in a hospital, which is the case of many pharmacists, Dentistry is more preferable and lucrative. But if you want to fully go into business, then pharmacy is more lucrative. |

Honestly, after going through the comments, I became scared. I already have HND in sci lab tech, But i feel empty! I want save money and go back to study a more fulfilling course. I have pharmacy in mind. And i also have ABU Zaria as the institution i intend studying in. Now, my problem is, as a DE applicant, I learnt they will send me to 100level What I read here really got me scared if really the course is difficult. Or should I just go for med lab sci? |
