James Igbekeme is an incredible passer . A good ball holder and dribbler. But I want to see him play at a higher level first before I will say more.

SlayerForever:
Considering his performance for both club and country: Iwobi on the wings or Iwobi as the 10. Which will be of more benefit to the national team? @edi247.
He's better off as a 10 with us because we don't have the players with the technical ability Arsenal does. He can play as an inverted winger if we have midfielders that are fluid and drift around. I thought Etebo could do that but I don't know anymore.
Sha I know if Mikel comes back, Rohr might still push him out to the left.

You know what? You actually add absolutely zero intellectual input in this thread, you just scream Iheanacho from morning to night, looking for his haters. I do not see you supporting even the SE with such vigour, it is getting stale
Calling you and your cohort out for your bias and wicked agenda against our team give me joy. I ain’t interested in droping any intellectual input or whatsoever term you wanna Called it. You are deceiving yourself if you think those garbage and fact twisting analysis you spew out add any input to this thread. Imagine this “charge and paid sport analyst” tried so hard to justified matuidy hard and ankle breaking tackled on Onazi, and you think people actually take your comment serious?. You are nothing but an enemy to the progress of super eagle. That’s how you try to downplay our win against Argentina (friendly match). You and your cohort can continue to drop your so called intellectual post reek of fact twisting and negativity. Nonsense .

Loool nah. Amodu would've never lost to SA in UYO. He'd rather play 8 defensive players and get a goalless draw than lose.

The problem I see with your lineup is lack of pace in that middle. Iwobi is the kind of guy that even if he is playing the AMF role he will still like to drift to the flanks and influence play from there but the problem he has is that even when he starts defending, he still sticks to the flank, at some point he was marking Samuel Kalu's man while we were defending and Samuel didn't know what to do hence he started moving from one side to the other to give Iwobi space that is why I have not blamed Samuel for his bad game knowing fully well that it would take a lot of training for him to know when to move central if Iwobi drifts to his wing, even Moses Simon or whoever would have a hard time with Iwobi as our AMF. Then back to your formation, Iwobi's absence then creates a space in the middle because only two players will be pressing in the middle, Etebo to me wasn't that poor because he was pressing for two persons and Ndidi was just sitting back doing almost nothing, just that if he(Etebo) does win the ball back he ends up making the wrong decision but with Mikel in the team I know that it will be reduced but if you remove Etebo for Onazi, is it Onazi or Mikel that will press for two persons?? You could see how the Libyans were easily creating passing triangles in our midfield because we had only two players chasing their 3-4 midfielders, don't forget that those two midfielders were Ndidi and Etebo, workhorses but still the Libyans found it easy, very very easy to get past the two of them and the Libyans aren't even on par with the South Africans when it comes to passing. So just imagine this; superior passing with even less energy in our midfield, that would be suicidal. I still think Iwobi should go back to the left or right flank and Etebo should pair with Onazi, Simon Moses should welcome Samuel to the bench
Partially true. Iwobi is used to playing with the likes of Ozil, Mkhitaryan, even Ramsey who also drift around to find space. I think he works well as an AMF when Musa plays outwide because Musa sometimes drifts to the middle while Ighalo go wide(still makes me laugh when people think Ighalo is a old school target man). This is why we need another AM...Eze, Onomah, etc...we need those kind of technicians not this B2B/DM fetish Rohr has been exhibiting.

Very possible if we are going by the form he left China with. The guy he is chasing plays with Oscar and Hulk so there is the chance they stop passing and start going for glory.

After a long and nightmarish northern summer for Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo, who has rebounded to not only top of the scoring list in these Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, but worm his way back into the hearts of Super Eagles fans.

After a dire World Cup campaign, where he was roundly blamed for the defeat to Argentina that saw the Africans crash out of the tournament, he’s gone on to score five goals in two qualifier games against Libya.

Scoring a hat-trick, he heard his name sung from the stands as he was subbed off after 75 minutes of the first game on the weekend. He was then serenaded by supporters in the second game on Tuesday, as he scored twice and provided one assist.

Beaming as he deflected personal praise in his first interview since the World Cup, the trademark Ighalo smile, which had been dimmed for months, flashed as he pointed to team effort instead.

“The team really worked hard, it is a good team performance and I am happy to score five goals in two games but it is an all-round performance and I am happy with the team performance.

“We are 99 per cent sealed the ticket to the Cup of Nations,” he told KweséESPN in an exclusive interview in Sfax, Tunisia, where the second match was played.

Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo challenged by Sand Masaud of Libya Kabiru Abubakar/BackpagePix
But all of this nearly did not happen. Sitting down in the changing room of the Taieb Mhiri Stadium, Ighalo reflected on what has been a challenging last few months for him and his family.

For a fleeting moment, the ever-present smile turned wry, then retreated as Ighalo opened about on how he and his family — including his children — endured vitriolic abuse, and even received death threats on social media, after a World Cup performance where even he admitted he had not played up to his own high standards.

Things got so bad, Ighalo said, that he came this close to packing it all in.

“I know the fans want me to score goals. I understand them,” the China-based striker said. “But some of them took it to another level.

“They said a lot of things. To my innocent kids, to my wife, even to the extent they threatened my life and the life of my family.”

Despite trying to remain above it all and not respond to critics, he was deeply hurt by the attacks on his family, especially his children.

“I felt very bad [when they went after my family]. I had to talk to my wife because she could not take it. Some words they said about my kids, about me. Some words they said to her, threatening and all that. That is beyond football.

“You know women and how they react when you talk about their children. But I never said a word to nobody and I never replied anybody.”

He did not have to take any action to protect his family, as they live in England while he plays in China for Changchun Yatai. But with all of that going on, it was only natural that the forward wanted to quit, especially when his wife advised him to.

“My wife said ‘you don’t have to go there [to Nigeria] any more’ and it was because of all what they said to her and to our family.”

It took national team coach Gernot Rohr’s intervention to convince Ighalo to come back and suit up in green and white again.

Ighalo explained: “I want to thank Rohr because after the World Cup and all those things happened, he called me before the Seychelles game [in September] and I told him I was contemplating stopping because it is not easy.

“But the coach had belief in me. He said ‘I know you are a good goalscorer and I know you can do it. Come and show them that you can score.’

“If a coach believes in me, then I will come. I told hm ‘coach, if I am in your plans hundred percent then I will honour the invitation any time you call me.’

“He said ‘yes, you you are in my plans for the games’. Then he said ‘don’t be under pressure, just go do your thing, I know you can do it.’

“That gave me the confidence which I believed that I needed. I want to thank him for defending me, and giving me the words like a father, encouraging me, talking to me. He gave me more belief and I thank God for repaying him with these goals.”

Ighalo has since disabled comments on his Instagram account, where he is still active, and rarely appears in front of the media. And he has no intention of changing that decision anytime soon.
So does he feel like he has proven all those doubters wrong?

“I am not trying to prove anybody wrong,” he said. “I am just trying to work hard for my country and I always give hundred percent.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t happen the way I wanted it at the World Cup. But life did not end there. I went back to my club, and I continued my game.
“Now I am back here to play for my country. I just want to give hundred percent whenever I play, goal or no goal. As long as the team wins, I am satisfied.”

Nigeria’s next Afcon qualifier is against South Africa on 16 November

Captain, since this is a faceless forum, I think I can air my opinion without fearing that you'll send your army boys after me grin grin cheesy

The Nigerian Army is one of the hotbeds of corruption. We have not forgotten that your boss (Buratai) was reported to have accumulated wealth to the extent that he bought houses in Dubai.

Even in the street in Abuja where I live, (and they call the place army officer's street), there are Army Generals that have built such humongous structures obviously from the proceeds of corruption. You need to come and see these magnificent edifices built newly on multiple acres (a plot in my area goes for 20million).

It is a very painful situation because the soldiers fighting Boko-haram in the NE part of Nigeria have continuously complained of being abandoned, allowances not paid on time (or not at all), poor rotation of fighting men and then you hear of mutiny....and then court-martials of the erring soldiers. The List is endless.

Now, you said you wouldn't partake in venality yet you hope to remain in such an Army. How would it be possible? I think you may be courting assassination or even early retirement bro.

Just my observation. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions.

They were pedestrian
Their build ups were slow
They did not press their opponents
They had no playmaker
They did not play for each other.

The only thing that worked for them was experience.
Hence they struggled against a lot of minnow teams.

I tip this present team of ours to be way ahead of them.

I agree, after watching these games I do not see Iwobi as an AMF, I see him as a fluid winger who should be allowed to move into the middle at will. If only Onyekuru was in form for us, he would have been my perfect winger because he too can drift into the middle just like Musa, the rest we have are old fashioned wingers

However,I was angry with Ighalo but I withheld from passing scalding comments on his performance because I had very strong reservations about the functionality of our midfield: They were not creating. When presenting an argument distinguish between facts and opinion.

Forgiveness has his opinion it's not an act of HATRED you may disagree with it. But you really shouldn't get unhinged about it.

You used the term TRASH I dont think Forgiveness did. Again that's your opinion but to bring your opinion and then foister the diction of your opinion on someone and declare that is what he said that is MISREPRESENTATION it is not fact.

My opinion on KC you have decided is HATRED that's your opinion it's not fact.

I said a long long time ago, and I have been watching KC when he was at City academy. That the true test of his quality is when he is in a team no longer surrounded by world class players.

That test has come at Leicester and the results are there for all to give thier differing opinions on.
