He's better off as a 10 with us because we don't have the players with the technical ability Arsenal does. He can play as an inverted winger if we have midfielders that are fluid and drift around . I thought Etebo could do that but I don't know anymore.
Sha I know if Mikel comes back, Rohr might still push him out to the left.

@The bolded: Excellent Point.✅

I personally think Iwobi either as a winger or 10 should work on shooting. That is practically what's remaining.

On the side, imagine a 4-3-3 formation with Mikel as regista, then ahead him the fluidity of Iwobi and Ebere Eze. Good for creating chances, right? Albeit with less cover defensively.

it's such a bonus we got an utility player like iwobi who can operate more than one position in a game.
Be that as it may, depending on the quality at hand prior to any match, t will determine his position in a game.
If MIKEL obi is fit for match, I don't see iwobi starting ahead of him, and the manager isn't one who is ready to draft MIKEL in the cmf position anytime soon.
But in his absence, a fit iwobi is definitely starting in the AMF position.
The wings been congested with many wingers at the moment. It will be unrealistic if we see iwobi as a winger in the already congested and overpopulated wings.. think the Manager but at club and country has started seeing his potentials in the middle of the park.
He has played more in the middle for club and country this season than before.. Hence we should see him as a potential AMF. He will be a good replacement and deputy to our ageing legend John MIKEL obi.

That been said.. In my opinion, I will like him to operate more from the AMF role... Thanks.

Thanks a lot.

I can not give a very good assessment he has just come back from a serious long term injury of near 2 years. He is just getting back to find his form. Also I haven't watched him live in a long time.

He was highly rated before Injury.

I don't think you can compare the two of them that would be very unfair. I don't think Odubanjo has played a game in the championship for Brentford this season.

I think he needs a whole season in the Championship hopefully without any injury before you can see where he us at. And if he has been able to get back to his former standard.

He has played two matches.

Yep exactly. But Ndidi will cover the defensive side and Iwobi can put in work defensively when he's up for it. Rohr needs to be looking for AMs.

I agree, after watching these games I do not see Iwobi as an AMF, I see him as a fluid winger who should be allowed to move into the middle at will. If only Onyekuru was in form for us, he would have been my perfect winger because he too can drift into the middle just like Musa, the rest we have are old fashioned wingers
Yeah he could be our Nasri/Hleb.

Baxter: Situation's not really changed

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter admitted to anger and frustration following the goalless draw away to Seychelles but insists their qualifying situation remains unchanged.

Bafana played to a shocking stalemate against The Pirates at the Stade Linite on Tuesday afternoon, dropping two valuable points in their bid for 2019 AFCON qualification.

After registering an emphatic 6-0 win on home soil a few days prior, it was expected that the team would at least return with three points to take their tally to 10 and maintain their lead in Group E.

That was not the case, unfortunately, and upon arriving back in Johannesburg on Wednesday, Baxter conceded disappointment that they failed to bring home the maximum points.

“My feeling about the game? Immediately afterwards I was frustrated and angry [about] the way the game panned out,” said Baxter.

“I met Gernot Rohr – the Nigeria coach – in London, and he told me the pitch was the worst he had ever played on in a competitive game, and I agree with him.

“That’s not an excuse, because we still did enough to win the game. But, I think it was a combination of the pitch, some unbelievable time-wasting and cheating by the opponents, a very poor refereeing performance and us not taking advantage of our chances.

“I think that’s how you know you can get that result. We had a clear penalty turned down, Nigeria got a penalty; we hit the crossbar and it bounced out, Nigeria hit the crossbar and it hit the goalkeeper and went in – those are the margins, you need a bit of luck on that pitch.

“So, I think the boys did as much as they could. We needed a bit of quality at the right time.

“The players were very, very deflated – I don’t want to say embarrassed because that would be deriding the effort that they put in, but they know the result was important for us, so they were therefore very down after the game.”

South African football lovers back home, although understandably unsurprised by the team’s continued failure to maintain a successful run, grew even more pessimistic over their chances of making it to the final showpiece in Cameroon in June next year.

However, Baxter has insisted it is not all doom and gloom as he quickly pointed out that even a victory in Victoria would still have required Bafana to get points off either Nigeria or Libya.

“The situation is not really changed. If we had won last night, we would still have to do the same things – we still have to knock Nigeria over, if we can, and if we don’t then we’ve got to get something in Libya,” he added.

“And that would have been the same even if we got a couple more points [against Seychelles], but it would have been very good for the confidence.”

Lol... Time will tell soon enough shaa. It is the first game on Saturday on return to EPL action.

On Victor Moses, well, I don't see him competing with Hazard. I see that more as playing backup to Hazard. The guys he is really up against are Pedro and William coz he got no chance displacing Hazard now. Good thing he is getting a couple of mins at Chelsea here and there but I still feel a player of Moses' talents deserve more. 'Shame how he has been relegated to bit part roles.

On your dream to see him return to the SE. Well, Rohr still spoke on that recently and is still keeping the doors open for the man, Victor. Very courteous of Rohr but I don't know if Victor will take that return ticket. And even if he does return, not all Nigerians will have nice things to say. Expect Savage comments like, "Ohhh now he realizes it should have been the other way round right? Retire from the Chelsea bench to focus on your international career..." wink These and many more will pop up and it won't be an easy walk into the side as Musa is a sure starter now and Iwobi is also in wicked form. Moses Simon is there and has always been a Rohr Favorite and key player and the rising Samuel Kalu and Henry Onyekuru are also waiting in the picture of things.

Well, like I always say, time will tell. Let's see if Victor rescinds his decision because as it currently stands, the Super Eagles are still soaring even without him.

No be Willian wey go soon disappear? Pedro cannot sustain the tempo so I still see VicMoses seeing at least 10games this season, except he flops. I know many see him as arrogant(i can't agree less sometimes), but what would make someone just wana hang the boots just so fast..... I believe questions are more than answers, but there is much to worry about.

Iwobi would down Leicester if he comes on as a sub. Let Ramsey start to me. what dyu think. Will Nacho find the net?

Oga V.moses just deh arrogant. Wat has he achieve compare to Mikel? D guy doesn’t just take d national team serious. He’s just a player with attitude similar to Kevin.p. Boateng
Pls don't be subjective with these kind of opinions. Why would any Nigerian wana downplay the importance of VicMo in all those years of service? Yeah he got swollen at a point, but let's not forget also that when he was "flopping" there wasn't even a replacement from among his teammates to add spark and big difference to our boring attack. Is that hard to see?

Im one of those many that criticized him when he was selfish and all, but don't let us ever downplay the important role he contributed to the team.

And the Mikel comparism is way way off pls. Haba.

We are in a new era of player power. I think we should realize that soon. Ozil is a good example. same for Costa and the likes.

The guy is simply a joy to watch as an AM. Just play Mikel behind him, that's the way to go!

Iwobi is very unpredictable so when playing the AM role. Add that to his passing ability and impressive vision.
Im I the only one that feel that the Mikel combo wouldn't work efficiently as we imagine?

Mikel loves to hold the ball. Iwobi is an attacking speedster. Would these two blend. This would make Iwobi kinda stifled. What dyu think. See the transition of Iwobi when attacking.... Would Mikel offer such fluidity?

$9.5m FIFA grant: Three NFF officials in court over alleged misappropriation

Three officials of Nigeria Football Federation were on Thursday arraigned in a Federal Capital Territory High Court at Maitama, accused of misappropriating $9.5 million and N1.3 million.

The defendants are Christopher Andekin, NFF Director of Administration and Finance, Reagan Zaka, Cashier and Fadanari Mamza, Head, Finance and Account Department.

They were dragged to the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on five counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and misappropriation.

The prosecutor, Mr Steve Odiase, told the court that the three defendants conspired between January 8 and January 26, 2015, to commit the offences, contrary to Section 97 of Penal Code.

Odiase alleged that Andekin was entrusted with money meant for the development of football in Nigeria, a grant from the Federation of International Football Association.

He said that Andekin, however, fraudulently diverted N1.3 million from the NFF domiciliary account with Zenith Bank, an act that is contrary to section 311 of the Penal Code.

He further alleged that Zaka on his part, fraudulently diverted $7.2 million grant from FIFA for development of football in Nigeria while Mamza diverted $2.3 million.

The defendants all pleaded not guilty to the charges, and their counsel, Mr Arinze Egbo applied for their bail.
The Judge, Justice Peter Affen upheld the administrative bail granted to them earlier by the EFCC.

In addition, he ordered that the sureties should sign a bond with the registrar of the court, and the defendants should deposit their international passports.
The case has been adjourned until November 27, for the commencement of trial.

You will always run away from the truth because you don't want to be set free. You love the bondage of twists, turns and lies... Just look at your hilarious attempt to dodge the real things you said that day against Nacho.... Lol... You are a shape-shifting wonder ooo...
You even had to run to the U-23 thread to scrape up some camouflage comments you made on Nacho but in same year, months later, you trash talked the kid on this thread after we all moved from the U-23 thread, to expose your true view of the lad...

Pages 174 - 179/180+ of this same thread....

You labelled Nacho, Iwobi and Success as Toddlers to Solanke even after Nacho's brilliant first season, Iwobi's fine progress at Arsenal and Success' continued rise in Spain.

You hyped this Solanke ehn because of his recall to Chelsea but hindsight have struck and we can see that Chelsea never even rated the lad at all. They sent him off with his "third striker" prize and now again he is still "third striker" at another Top English club. I guess that is the guy Nacho, Iwobi and Success are toddlers to abi... Lol

Then when told that Nacho outperformed Solanke in far lesser game time, you boldly and confidently said it was a fat lie... Your hate is truly legendary. Everything else you say about Nacho is only a camouflage...

Ighalo Named To EA Sports FIFA Team Of The Week As Sub, Man Utd's Lukaku Picked As Striker

Odion Ighalo's five goals for the Nigerian National Team during the international break did not go unnoticed outside Africa, with EA Sports FIFA 19 naming the Changchun Yatai striker in their Team of the Week 5, but as a substitute.

As a result of his exploits against the Mediterranean Knights in Uyo and Sfax, Tunisia, the Super Eagle saw his statistics boosted and now has an overall rating of 81.

The former Watford striker has a rating of 83 pace, 82 dribbling, 82 physicality, 79 shooting, 62 passing and 42 defending.

In a 3-4-3 formation, Manchester United's Belgium star Romelu Lukaku was picked to lead the frontline and was supported by West Ham's Marco Arnautovic while Man City's Bernardo Silva played on the right wing.

United's Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly was named in central defense, the only African player selected in the starting lineup.

TOTW selects a squad of 23 players from across the globe who have stood out for their clubs or countries in the most recent round of fixtures.

Eleven players make the starting line-up, seven are named on the substitutes bench and five players are reserves.

Rohr for Wednesday’s Aiteo Cup final Kano Pillars against Enugu Rangers

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will be in the stands on Wednesday when Kano Pillars take on Enugu Rangers in the final of this year’s Aiteo Cup.

Rohr himself confirmed to SCORENigeria he will be at the cup final.

The Eagles coach has widely been criticised for overlooking players from the domestic league, preferring to work with players based overseas.

However, he has maintained that the country’s best players do not play locally.

The final will be staged at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

The cup winners will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Well on Moses, only time will tell. wink I just wish him well.

On the Arsenal Vs Leicester game... Hmmmm... I think Arsenal will nick it unless..... And unless that "unless" happens then it is Arsenal all the way.
Iwobi is expected to play a good role in this game either from the start or the bench while Ndidi will start as usual... While Nacho will start if Puel maintains that the fashion of trying to get his best attacking players (Vardy, Iheanacho and Maddison) into the first XI. Will Nacho score? Lol... Can't say. As always, time will answer that... wink
