Nairaland and its array of childish comments sha!
So you want to tell me you don't know it's to the advantage of the masses for the government to make doctors choose between government work or private employment? Are you people truly interested in having a better country?

They are not!
We live in a society of "Dog eat Dog". Greedy, Selfish and wicked souls!
It has become acceptable now that everyone should join hand in ruining this country
, so some can cecede, so some can become a mafia and local war-lords, e.t.c as we have in some failed countries liek Syria, Yemen, Somalia, e.t.c

It is a very sad reality but we should give the 'slow' President Buhari some Kudos, for taking this bold step.
Be sure to see the evil people crying and wailing over this. undecided undecided

This is in the positive direction. Our doctor are a part of the problems in our health care system by sabotaging the system.

They just have too type something.

No mind them, Naija doctors are leaving in droves to Europe, Carribbean, US, Canada and other African countries.

Let them keep celebrating draconian policies such as this, very soon native doctors and agbo sellers will be Una only source of healthcare in Nigeria..

This animal called Buhari wasted tax payers money at a British private hospital, one night stay at NHS hospital ( not private) cost about £400 minimum, now imagine what private will cost for 3 months plus.

Nigerians should come together and remove this disaster, this is not about APC or PDP.

That is nonsense and impossican't so far as Nigerians are concerned. Why don't PMB also sign a white paper prohibiting himself and other politician who are in government not to attend hospital abroad?.
Pmb is a joker.

If the priest decides to flog those who came late to church, what of those that did not come?

The country should be grateful that still have such highly experienced doctors on ground despite the peanuts they are paid.

If this law is adhered to, it will either be circumvented by also using stooges, by abandoning the public hospitals ( that would be a disaster) and focusing on private practice full time or fleeing abroad.

The primary reason why they have private hospitals because of the peanuts they are being paid. That's why a blind eye has been turned by the establishment.

they should either manage the peanut or go outside (if they can and if the can be accommodated) for Yamnut instead of been here frustrating the FG effort by stealing drugs for their private use while these who go there keep suffering.

No public doctor should be allowed to be using government resources to finance their own private entity..
Thumps up for the president if this is true..!!!

Peace..!!!

It won't solve anything cos the doctors will just transfer ownership of their hospitals to relatives, spouses or children. So how does that solve d problem?

A GOOD ONE FROM PMB - THIS IS LONG OVERDUE.
THIS SHOULD BRING IN SANITY, DISCIPLINE AND MORE COMMITMENT TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH SECTOR.
ITS LIKE BABA WORKS BEST UNDER PRESSURE - WITH STRONG OPPOSITION.

The problem is not that they own a private practice - it's that they only come in once a week or so to the public institution, which is akin to dereliction of duty (something PMB is well-versed in). OK, so I can say my wife or sister owns the private hospital, not me, does this white paper ban me too?
The white paper should be redrafted to include connected persons..

Your arguement is devaluing itself!
if anyone feels a Govt job is not paying him/her enough and they have an option of working in the private sector, they should MOVE OUT.
There are so many other people who would galdly do that same job, for the same pay.
But it is sheer greed to try to hold on to both..... and still be complaining that the pay is not good.

One of the reason they engage in private practice is that they want to make more money, be the master/employer of themselves, have an alternative stream of income......... but they should not do it at the expense of the public treasury, no matter how small they get from it.

When Lagos state doctors went on strike some years back, the state stood its ground and the doctors caved in.

Many of these doctors eventually went abroad.

The objective of the law is nice but it isn't facing the problem which is the perceived low pay.

The practicality of a law is more important than its purpose.

Before any action u take try reason the after effect. Banning doctors from owning private hospital as still works as public doctor will make those doctors leave public and face private totally. Mind u to be a doctor to own a private hospital shows how qualified that doctor is. Meaning only small or inexperienced doctors will full public also making private more desirable and more expensive for individuals
It's better let them leave..

These doctors for so long have held patients firmly by their nethers.

Many medical tests are no longer available in public hospitals, instead patients are being referred to doctor owned hospitals in town at higher prices.

It is like Atiku, who hold the franchise for MIKANO GENERATORS in Nigeria using some "Syrian Fronts" who have naruralised as Nigerians, telling us that he wants electricity to be stable in Nigeria?
That is not possible because it directly impacts his business and profit.

If necessary, as we have seen in how the Power Privitasiation (which he was head, as Vice President under Obasanjo), they would sabotage it and make sure it does not work.

The objective of the law is nice but it isn't facing the problem which is the perceived low pay.

The practicality of a law is more important than its purpose.

You see this "low pay" thing, has many facets.
First, ALL occupations under Govt in Nigeria have the right to claim "Low Pay".
Teachers do, all Civil servants do, railway worker do, e.t.c

But the reality is that "what a Govt can pay, is dependent not just on what the Govt earns (Crude oil, taxes, e.t.c) but also on the PRODUCTIVITY of the Employees!
We all know the level of productivity of Public employees in this country, compared to their private counterparts.

Why do 'some' private company workers complain of low pay as well?
Airlines, some bank workers, production companies, e.t.c, their workers also complain of low pay.

So, it is not unique to Doctors alone and they cannot use that to justify the malfeanse that goes on in that industry.
Just imagine if Teachers, who are also complaining of low pay, decide to be stealing the text books you bought for oyur child, to resell it in the open market and use "low pay" to justify that?
Would you like it or tell them to make a choice of remianing in service or going to open a Private Bookshop?

who says they aren't concentrated. Its a question of management. Some are actually just overseers of the private firm. Its another way to diversify income. One makes up for the other. Have you seen the imbalance in public sectors?

Na for experienced doctors to leave hospitals be that for inexperienced newly out of school doctors to kill as many people as possible as they learn on the job and eventually also leave

The experienced doctors ones used patients as experiment to gather the experience they brag about. Let the new doctors enjoy the same privilege.

There are foreign Doctors in ALL COUNTRIES of the WORLD.
It is not just Nigerian Doctors alone that are leaving their country to practice elsewhere.

There are British Doctors in every other country of the world, just like there are Germans, French, Anericans, e.t.c
Have you not heard of "Mobility fo Labour", in your Economics 101?

Should the President double their Pay and then ban them from travelling overseas to practice? You peopel sef. angry

It is also not all illness that a country can treat.
There are British citizens who go to India for treatment, that does not make their PM an animal.

Doctors will just set up clinics with names other than their as owners just like in boys owning pharmacy use certificates if licences pharmacist in their shop as proxy owners...That's the end of that law.....

Why is that it's only masses that will make sacrifice...What happened to leaders getting ban from travelling abroad with their children for medical check up...What happened to banning leaders from sending their kids and wards abroad for education..Let him do that and see the ripple effect.....
