Is it wise for them to collect big salary from gov't but they work for themselves at their own hospitals some of them go as far as referring patients from gov't hospital to their private hospital and later on go on strike for increase insalary.
Those shouting international best practices do doctors work for gov't and as well own private hospitals in abroad.

Is it not me and you including the poor masses that he is trying to save? you don't know why Our public hospitals are not working is because of conflict of interest? the saying that we "rushed our dying relative to the general hospital but there was no Doctor and equipment to attend to him and he died" is what the president is trying to correct. a situation where many of these Doctors divert patients to their private clinics where they charge exorbitant fees as against the subsidised fees if such cases were treated in the hospitals. Again, most of these doctors play truancy to duty leaving where they are employed and pay attention to their private clinics, leaving the poor masses who cannot afford the high fees in their private clinics to suffer. This is not to talk of the diverting of public equipment to their private clinics. so It's better if they want to go public, they are free, but If they want to go private no problem.

You see this "low pay" thing, has many facets.
First, ALL occupations under Govt in Nigeria have the right to claim "Low Pay".
Teachers do, all Civil servants do, railway worker do, e.t.c

But the reality is that "what a Govt can pay, is dependent not just on what the Govt earns (Crude oil, taxes, e.t.c) but also on the PRODUCTIVITY of the Employees!
We all know the level of productivity of Public employees in this country, compared to their private counterparts.

Why do 'some' private company workers complain of low pay as well?
Airlines, some bank workers, production companies, e.t.c, their workers also complain of low pay.

So, it is not unique to Doctors alone and they cannot use that to justify the malfeanse that goes on in that industry.
Just imagine if Teachers, who are also complaining of low pay, decide to be stealing the text books you bought for oyur child, to resell it in the open market and use "low pay" to justify that?
Would you like it or tell them to make a choice of remianing in service or going to open a Private Bookshop?

You ignore the fact that doctors have opportunities open to them overseas and even in Nigeria if they decide to vote with their feet not easily open to the others.

They can easily earn 10 times what they collect here if they venture overseas.

how, that's civil service rule, has a civil servant, one is not allowed to own a private business except a farm for personal use, and you know some of our medical doctors, they are not really committed to the work they are paid for, but rather they are more committed to their private hospital which is wrong.

Good, our doctors will have to be serious with their work.

Civil servants can't depend on der salaries alone coz d money Govt is paying as salaries 2day is meagre.
Civil servants also cannot depend solely on salaries in a country where pensioners r owed 4 so long

It's only a FOOLISH doctor that will sit down and mind all these policies. Every doctor that can, should just leave this country-- earn good pay commensurate with your labour. Even Ghana (small Ghana) will pay about double of what you earn here. If Nigeria will collapse, let it! Save yourself!!!
