1StopRudeness: Believe me when I tell you I laughed when my sister told me until my mum showed me the card, just appointment o nothing else, okay let's carry out a case study using General hospital Igando or General Hospital Ikeja as a fresh patient, request to see an Internist, Cardiologist or Gynecologist and let's see the date they give you to see the specialist (not student doctor), if less than 6weeks I would give you a 5000 jumia black Friday voucher if more then you apologize and take back your 'you can lie for Africa statement' 3 Likes |

BankeSmalls: I kinda like what he signs to an extent and in additional you can compare other countries with the greed infested people we all called Nigerians... it seems you have never been to the hospital before... well not all hospital but most of them, they will tell you that you should buy drugs from a certain place or at their hospital at a very expensive rate and once you go somewhere else to buy at cheaper rate they will never accept it from even knowing you are financially down... later on you will find out they own that certain hoapital or medical center where they compulsory you to buy the drugs... if they know they want private stuff then let them resign and start whatever they want... |

BankeSmalls: Use your brain for once The said doctors have gotten to a stage where they will referred a patients from government hospital to their own private hospital. They will still claim government is not paying their salary. They offer poor service to poor masses who can't afford private hospital but offer an outstanding services to patients in their own private hospital |

God bless you Baba, the trend has destroyed many public hospitals .They collect salary but never render the service. This new policy is highly commendable. |

MallamJackson: The fun part of this gist is that in 2015 we retired a 16 year government called PDP even as a fledgeling APC party and you think that after this same fledgeling APC has been in power for 4 years the same PDP we retired in 2015 will come back? . I laugh in PDP burial. Guinness book of records will capture the mass defeat and burial of PDP come 2019. Don't say you have not been giving fair warning |

1StopRudeness: [b]You are being mischievious because you are twisting what l wrote, to suit your own narrative. I said "As long as they are using their own money", they are free to seek medical treatment abroad. You then twisted that "they", to mean Politicians only! That is not a true reflection of what l said I am referring to ANYONE who can afford it, should be free to seek better treatment abroad. Now, even at that, let me assume you are referring to the President. Whether we like it or not, every office, whether in Govt or Private, has its responsibilities and benefits. Even myself, my office has a certain amount allocated to me every year, for medical expenses. If l dont even get sick, l am reimbursed 75% of that amount, in cash sum. And that is me, and l am nowhere near the President of this country. What l am saying in essence is that you guys should not just get jealous that the President is able to go abroad for treatment ofhis ailment, if we can get the treatment here in Nigeria. Now, before yo uget me wrong, itis a disgrace that our govt has paid and is paying lip-service to the development of our hospitals and the equipping of same. If we look at it from that angle, they should all be tied down here and allowed to die since it is them that have refused to build modern hospitals but would rather loot the money. But that is the shameful situation of this country, which Buhari himself met in office. It is also shameful on him that in his 3.5yrs as President, l cannot point to ONE world class hospital he has built (l satnd to be corrected on that info). One would think that as a sickler, he would try to replecate that Hospital he is always running to, here in Nigeria. Infact, dont let me start on that issue, the man really should be ashamed of himself on that. How many times have patients (not just people l know) been turned away from Govt hospitals and then directed to the private hospitals of the same Doctors? You cannot even count it because it has become the standard practice of our Doctors and that is a bad an unethical behaviour. I once witness a case where original Prescription bought with World bank Money, was stolen to a private hospital's pharmacy and replaced with poor quality ones in the Govt Hospital's pharmacy (You know the World bank will put its logo or inscription on it) ...and the Doctor even said we should make sure the one we buy, has that World bank logo since it is the original product. How about that? It is this sort of shennanigans that the new directive will address and once again, l appluad the President for having the political will and courage to issue that order. I recall that a similar order banned teachers from engaging in "private Lesson" within the school compound, even after school hours, to ensure that they dont reduce performance under official hours only to teach better in their private lessons. We must always avoid such ocnflict of interest. Civil service rules has for decades now, banned Civil officers from engaging in private practice, when in Govt employment If you say Buhari is paying me, na u sabi. You can say what you like, its a free world. |

a friend's wife went to hospital for a check up, after every... she was billed for an operation. instead they referred her to a private hospital that they own(jointly 2doctors) isn't that evil? that's why they agitate for strike at the slightest opportunity. just to make personal money. thieves. Those ranting here are probably doctors themselves, this is a very good move, the salary scale of doctors is higher than that of any other civil servant and yet they are not always present at the place of duty, if you want to own your own hospital, then you resign and face your hospital |

Samcoflex75: Those ranting here are people that are tired of government wash and wear laws... those ranting have actually seen that this law holds no water and it would go along way if lawmakers and those in charge of public funds are baned from medical check up abroad... Those u refer to has ranting are the ones going to hospitals that are not even properly staffed or equipped....and they see tax payers and oil money absent in medical facilities... And you want them not to rant...u want them to jubilate that buhari used one of his executive orders to incapacitate doctors from owning private practice, when they can easilybestablish same in another person's name.... What happened to preventing the same house of representatives member rotating the same seat for 16years and all they do is represent them selves and earn 36million a month, what happened to lawmaker and people in power not even using the same hospital as us but fly abroad. We know how to criticize and shout at pastors when we see them in big cars funded by money some of us didn't even give them.even me that have not gone to church for the last 10months join them ....but we hail our stupid leaders for mediocre laws that doesn't even cover them.... Ofcourse it's a good move... |

HBB1:i agree with this.every doctor who know what's good for him/her should use the money earned during housemanship/nysc to get out of this shitty hole.the funny thing is the patients will even disrespect the doctors if any thing went wrong.do you know that i have seen a particular thread on this nairaland about lack of adequate equipments in nigerian hospitals, one guy was lamenting that an ultrasound machine(that's about a million naira) was absent in most general hospitals, one moniker came up and said that the doctors should make necessary sacrifice by paying for the ultrasound machine.Nigerians are so weird,is equipping the hospital with his salary the duty of the doctor??the doctors should just find their way and leave this country for where they'd be appreciated. |
