the brand name; Toyota, is a strong vehicle, the masses run with it and they are saved....

where two or more people are gathered in that brand name, Toyota is there in their midst......

finally........

at the name of Toyota, every brand must bow and confess that Toyota is lord of autos...

to me, the one major reason I would choose one car over another is availability of expertise.....
I cannot leave my current Job and start doing another persons job overnight because I want to drive what I like..... and time too....

BMW, Peugeot, Land Rover etc.... if the expertise is sufficient... then I would gladly use it.
but like I said sometime ago, I would use a 607 if and only if, ikenna351 is my next door neighbor who is owing me both in cash and kind!

for starters, their systems are complex and not as simple as the japs, hence only a select few have mastered them. translating to more money to be removed from the pocket in case of any "incasity".

me..... I am not "yet" ready to master another vehicle/ brand, maybe next year or next 2, 3 years.... but not now!
u guys can continue jare....

What's this nonsense. There's absolutely nothing wrong with choosing not to work on specific brands. Better to focus on your strengths and the best market.

I mean, there are techies that only work on specific parts, even. Maybe only transmissions, and won't touch any other parts of a car. It's called specializing and anyone with half a brain knows that's how you make the big bucks.

some times I wonder how some people managed to open nairaland on their phone....... maybe mistakenly.... but then who helped them to create and activate their accounts? baffles me!

only a dumb bunny would think a mechanic that specializes is quack, esp in a country like this where time is money.... people like Glen sef would still need to research before handling some kain brands.. with all the certifications oh....

sometimes I wonder...... seriously.....
I even get scared when I hear that a particular mechanic knows all brands and all subsystems of a ride..... anyone that has achieved that is the exception and not the norm (esp here in naija)

updated.... diportivo is here.... make I mute... no go fall im hand

It is but slightly. It churns 301hp while the G produces 306hp

HP matters
But at times
It doesn't equate to speed
Though the g35 is faster than the c350
A stock c350 has 268hp and the blue efficiency has 288

Edit: C350 has 273 ft-lbs of torque at 3500 rpm. G35 has 268 ft-lbs at 5200 rpm. Plus differences in transmission. Goodluck not getting destroyed. grin

2011 had a new engine. M276, I believe. The C350 does 302 HP from 2011 downwards. wink
268 HP is 2006-2010. M272.

Done 180km/h on my ES330. I don't think it could have gone much faster than that, tbh, but it still felt grounded.

The ES 330's are not built for speed. Lexus focused on luxury and that is what u get. I mean u literarily get isolated to the outside word, u might even fall asleep because u won't even hear the engine sound unless u rev high. Lexus made it's success not from performance but from luxury quiet comfortable ride which the infinity g35 or Acura TL cannot give u. If performance is ur priority then leave the es330 alone. The exterior may not be the best but the jnteririor speaks something different. Comfortable leather, nice stereo, smooth quiet ride. By the way which naija road sef u want dey do 180km/hr? Unless maybe someone that travels very frequently, but then again ur gonna need that comfort if u travel very often and that's what the Lexus brand offers. So it's a win win for Lexus and this is why they sell so many cars.

Es330 is cool. That rx 330 doesnt look stable o. The car just hang for air. Guys dont risk ur lives. Cars like g35, IS350 and C350 are sports sedans built for speed.

Rx 330 is an SUV so u don't expect it to be quick or stable with corners. Just that some people are ignorant and feel they can drive it like a sedan. There are only a few SUVs out there that are made for speed, most of them have high rollover rate especially the taller ones. Don't expect an siv or cuv to drive like a sedan.

Bro, no hating or disrespecting, but the 607 is not actually a quick car. 0-60 in 9.2 seconds is pretty slow for a sedan. Eveb the v6 version does 0-60 in 8 seconds, quarter mile 15.9 seconds A lot of Japanese cars with smaller engines are faster. That u outrun someone doesn't necessarily mean he car is quicker, maybe the person doesn't wanna race or doesn't have the experience or maybe the car is not in perfect order.

Just saying though, 607 is a beautiful ride, but quick? Nope, actually too slow for it's looks. 9.2 seconds is the 0-60 time of many heavy SUV's, in fact Rx 330 does 7.5 secs while 1999 rx300 does 8.7 secs and these are not entirely quick cars. Even the Rx 330 is still faster than a v6 607 in quarter mile not to talk of an i4 version which u drive.

That comparison doesn't make sense. Why not compare cars of same years and class?
You're comparing cars 4 years apart. Even KBB or Cars.com doesn't make such comparisons.
In fact, this makes the infiniti feel superior because you're comparing it to a car produced 4 years after. So what happens if you compare it to same car of same year?

I never said quarter mile race bro, but most of those quick Japs when they get to 120-140km/h go flat out and not much juice anymore that's when the power of the Lion kicks in remember there's a difference between speed and acceleration (SS1 physics class). Was talking about speed here not acceleration. With the 607 usually, the speed gains kick in at third gear that's when the Lion starts to roar. When you think you've dusted me, watch me inch closer by the second, pass you and keep going like you didn't even pass me in the first place. Third gear is where the power gain kicks in. It has to do with the ECU programming.

You said nothing about the performance of the sonata. I have frustrated a 2013 sonata with a Toyota 1.8L engine made several years before the sonata.
Now tell us the 1/4 mile or 0-60 mph of the sonata and let's compare it with the Peugeot 607.

Yes there's a difference between speed and acceleration, but the 607 is not quick, though can get to a very high speed but will take a really long time to get there. We don't have too many stretches of roads here to take advantage of the top speed. Moreover the time it will take for it to get to it's top speed, the Japs would have user that time to accelerate faster and by the time the Peugeot is playing catch up, u probably would have gotten to a bend, break start accelerating again and the jap would still be ahead due to quick acceleration which is more important than top speed (unless ur on Autobahn).

Bro, I'm not here to argue whether the sonata is fast or not, just saying the 607 is too slow for it's looks. I'm not here to fight anybody, just stating the facts.

But since u asked for 0-60 times, the 6th gen Hyundai sonata (2010-2014) has different engines so depends on the one u are talking about.

2013 sonata se 4 cyl 0-60 is 7.7 secs. Quarter mile 15.9 secs.

2013 sonata 2.0T 4 cyl 0-60 is 6.4 secs. Quarter mile 14.5 secs

Ur 1.8L Toyota is probably a Corolla, now show me which Corolla has these acceleration. Not everyone u outrun on the highway actually want to race, I've had many Corollas overtake me on the highway looking at me and feeling their cars are faster than 05 Acura TL 270 hp and 0-60 in 5.8 secs, quarter mile 14.4 secs. I just look at them and smile and say I don't have ur time.

Exactly. My car isn't the fastest but I'd absolutely smoke any Corolla. Still I see Corolla drivers trying to overtake all the time. I go just free them, make dem dey go their way. Sometimes I let them pass, then accelerate and pass them again, just to mess with them.

In my experience, Corolla drivers are some of the most obnoxious around, tbh. Apologies to any reading this. They'll be disturbing not knowing that their 1.8L engine go start dey cry if people take them seriously. grin
