my eod v6 is another story entirely....... and the Camry does not come close to it @ all...

Exactly. My car isn't the fastest but I'd absolutely smoke any Corolla. Still I see Corolla drivers trying to overtake all the time. I go just free them, make dem dey go their way. Sometimes I let them pass, then accelerate and pass them again, just to mess with them.

In my experience, Corolla drivers are some of the most obnoxious around, tbh. Apologies to any reading this. They'll be disturbing not knowing that their 1.8L engine go start dey cry if people take them seriously. grin

Yeah, I do that a lot too. Let them pass and then speed up and overtake just to let them know, and then get back to my cruising speed. But when I see car wey run pass my own I no dey near them.

but, anyone buying a corolla with performance in mind should be flogged na, most times people buying it are trying to get the best of fuel economy, availability of parts (chinko ET all) , expertise and most of all.......

resale value ..... this one is very important oh, I have seen naija third hand corolla sold for over a million naira .... 05 accidented corolla oh..... and I weak.

anyone trying to race it is just being overly dramatic...
BTW, there was this Benz during my last trip from the south east..... the guy was moving like angels were pulling him.... u know why this was so particular? the ride was on full load, stacked to the brim with people and cargo.... and me with my empty Camry, I was shocked.....
a Benz must join my fleet oh, by fire by force by nwanneni's ride.... I must add that Benz by God's GRACE

Lmao, German cars are built to be able to take on the Autobahn. There's a massive difference in engineering ideologies between Japanese and German cars, and it translates into highway performance. You'd be surprised to see an old Audi 80 doing something similar. grin

Drive the GLK350 or infiniti fx35 or fx45 then give me feedback on it rolling over.

I clearly said there are few SUVs that are fast in acceleration and top speed, Mercedes Benz GLK, Porsche panamera, etc are in the category of the few. Infinity fx 35 is not in that category. Though it drives like a sedan (it's not particularly an SUV, low ground clearance, small cargo space and very small head room) and has an agressive look, mad exhaust note but do not be deceived, its not as quick as it looks and top speed is no way near the GLK or cayenne, though still faster than an average SUVs/Cuvs

Yeah, Porsche cayanne, also the panamera turbo is pretty quick and can go top speed with ease.

Lol, but I was only clarifying the terms of the initial comparison. That said, Nissan absolutely kills it in terms of performance. It's impressive that a four-year older engine of the same capacity can produce more power and comparable torque.

And the 2009/2010 G37 will hang out with the 2012 C350 comfortably. Really impressive stuff. Cars like the 370z will flat out destroy anything Mercedes puts out in that class (price considered).

greenhulk:

The ES 330's are not built for speed. Lexus focused on luxury and that is what u get. I mean u literarily get isolated to the outside word, u might even fall asleep because u won't even hear the engine sound unless u rev high. Lexus made it's success not from performance but from luxury quiet comfortable ride which the infinity g35 or Acura TL cannot give u. If performance is ur priority then leave the es330 alone. The exterior may not be the best but the jnteririor speaks something different. Comfortable leather, nice stereo, smooth quiet ride. By the way which naija road sef u want dey do 180km/hr? Unless maybe someone that travels very frequently, but then again ur gonna need that comfort if u travel very often and that's what the Lexus brand offers. So it's a win win for Lexus and this is why they sell so many cars.

I read again and I have carefully highlighted where you made general statements about the "Lexus brand". I think you should be articulated when speaking on brands and models just for next time.

*modified*
Why do "they" sell so many cars again? For comfort or performance? And by "they", who do you refer to? Lexus or Lexus Es330?

It's obvious that you don't know anything about the Infiniti fx35. First, it's an SUV; secondly, it's faster than your Lexus ES330.
The 2006 Infiniti fx35 does 0-60mph in 6.79 secs with 280hp
Your Lexus ES330 (at most a 2006) does 0-60mph in 7.75 secs with only 218hp

Did I read you write that the Infiniti fx35 is not fast? Don't let it's heavy looks deceive you. It will disgrace your Lexus ES330 on the highway.
Mind you, top speed of the infinitive fx35 is 130mph or 209.215kmph while your Lexus Es330 does 143mph or 230kmph but trust me, your Lexus may go kaput before it does 230kmph. Here comes where weight and torque plays important roles. The Infiniti fx35 has it with suspension and handling that will make it really hard to somersault.

Bro, I'm not here to argue whether the sonata is fast or not, just saying the 607 is too slow for it's looks. I'm not here to fight anybody, just stating the facts.

But since u asked for 0-60 times, the 6th gen Hyundai sonata (2010-2014) has different engines so depends on the one u are talking about.

2013 sonata se 4 cyl 0-60 is 7.7 secs. Quarter mile 15.9 secs.

2013 sonata 2.0T 4 cyl 0-60 is 6.4 secs. Quarter mile 14.5 secs

Ur 1.8L Toyota is probably a Corolla, now show me which Corolla has these acceleration. Not everyone u outrun on the highway actually want to race, I've had many Corollas overtake me on the highway looking at me and feeling their cars are faster than 05 Acura TL 270 hp and 0-60 in 5.8 secs, quarter mile 14.4 secs. I just look at them and smile and say I don't have ur time.

It was a 4cyl sonata not the 2.0T. Now compare that specs to the 2005 Toyota matrix xrs and tell me something. Meanwhile, the guy wanted to race.

It's still an M272 with more direct injection.

Lol.

1. The FX35 is a crossover and its ground clearance is poor.
2. I'm the ES guy. Greenhulk uses an Acura TL, and the FX35 won't even see the TL's tail lights in a race.

Semantics. The FX35 is a CUV. Same platform as the G and M sedans. That's irrelevant here, of course. My only point is that its ground clearance is pretty bad, like Greenhulk said. Drive one and see.

And I was just clarifying that the guy you were talking to doesn't even drive an ES. And I don't think anyone ever said an ES330 was comparable to an FX35, performance wise.

Toyota Rav4 is a CUV.

seems you are also wrong too grin

The fx is a crossover SUV not a CUV or SUV per say. Even the manufacturers are confused how can a fx first and second generation be called an SUV, ko joor rara; D

I have been in the fx35 it doesn't drive, handle, look or perform like an SUV. I did just categorise it as a CUV the manufacturer is just trying to be mischievous.
