Please I need an advise on type/brand of inverter to buy. I need a 5kva - 7.5kva (48v) inverter with very low idle consumption . It's basically to power a 2hp submersible every day for at least 6hrs. The primary source of charging will be Solar Charge Controller. |

Are there other loads you did not mention? You don't need up to 7.5kva to power a 2hp load if it is the only load. 1hp is 746w so 2hp is approx 1.5Kw (1,492w). Even allowing for the pump motor's inrush current at startup, a good inverter with surge capability from 3 - 4kw upwards should do. The Felicity 5kva 48v inverter is a good budget option around 170k and with excellent customer service too. You can also splurge on any of the premium Magnum, Schneider, Victron, SMA but quite an overkill just to run a pump. Have you sized your solar array to support a continuos 1.5kw power draw for 6 straight hours? Are you gonna use batteries to tide you over power transients? Your decisions around choice and quantity/wattage of solar panels, CC and batteries are likely to be the most expensive and critical to the success of this project. hardywaltz: |

But for 90% of the year it's mostly the sumo and a few low watts security lights (nite time) that will be powered. The reason why I was contemplating 7.5Kva is coz of 2nr ac units that maybe powered from time to time. (But maybe I should go for 5kva) While the 2hp sumo is on the rest of the load will be switched off by timer switches. The battery bank is 600amp x 48v Solar pv array is 5460w |

With everything you have stated, it would appear you are good to go. You should be able to make things work. Once you ensure the inverter you choose has a suitable surge rating for your intended loads then you are good to go. The budget chinese mustpowers and allied clones and all the premium inverters have robust surge capabilities so there should be no issues. hardywaltz: |
