Rohr Eyes Ighalo, Lookman’s Partnership

By Segun Ogunjimi, Abuja Last updated Oct 19, 2018

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has told SportingLife.ng that he would love to have Everton striker Ademola Lookman who is on loan to RB Leipzig of Germany to form a deadly partnership with Eagles’ top striker Odion Ighalo if player shows quick interest in joining the Nigeria national football team.

Rohr who also revealed that he is still hungry to have the best Eagles squad that can stand the test of time said that even if Lookman eventually joins the team he must prove to be better that players already playing in his position before he joined.

The Eagles’ handler said that in as much as the player is on his list he must show enough interest interest in playing for his fatherland since he has already played for the Under 19 to 21 of his adopted country England.

“(Ademola) Lookman is on our list. He is a good player and very fast too. I would be happy if he can show enough interest to join the Eagles because we will have many options in the attack of the team. He would be exciting playing alongside Ighalo.

” I am aware that the NFF is working out something but you know that Lookman has played for England’s U-19, U-20 and U-20. So there are processes to be done to make him eligible to play for us (Eagles). Lookman also has to decide on time because the NFF has to process his authorization from FIFA. He must also prove that he is better than the players already in the team”, Rohr disclosed.

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation Dr. Sanusi Muhammed however confirmed to SportingLife.ng that the Federation is working on how to bring the player to the Eagles but has not gone far on the issue.

“We are still looking at the modalities. We will discuss with the Coach (Rohr) to know what to do next. We have not gone far on the issue”, Sanusi disclosed.

“I want to inform you that we have got three new goalkeepers for the national team. they are doing well for their respective clubs and at the right time they are going to be given invitations,” Agu told SportingLife.ng.

Aina Ready To Step Up His Game

By Segun Balogun On Oct 19, 2018

Torino of Italy defender, Ola Aina has promised to double his game before next month’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa.

The left back was responding to comments after his game against Libya in both the home and away matches of the Afcon campaign.

“I am happy with my chance to play for the Super Eagles. I am happy that the team is winning, but I know it does not end there. “I have to justify my position in the national team and be able to do well whenever I am called upon to play.

“That’s why I want to work, work, work. I will keep working every time, in order to improve and do better for the team.”

By Tunde Liadi Last updated Oct 18, 2018

Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has revealed that he turned down transfer requests from clubs in the German Bundesliga and the English Premier League before settling for Championship side, Stoke City.

Or Semi Ajayi, if we want to go a bit experimental. There's still Igbekeme and Onomah waiting in the wings

But you sabi Baba Onigbinde....grin

I have watched Tega Onomah since he was about 15 at Tottenham live and in training.

Currently, I would say he is the best option for midfield rate him much more than Ebere Eze, Ovie Ejaria, Philip Billing in terms of end product he has the capacity to fill the boots of Mikel Obi but not just on the creative side but defensive. He is a proper box to box midfielder and he is rugged.

Getting him now will not be problematic waiting till he blows will be.

Not exactly.

It depends on what you are offered and how much value is placed on you by the club.

So you would look at Opportunity to progress, playing time and position with in relation to development.

Then add relationship with the manager then finally the money and length of contract.

There are Championship clubs that may you more £££ and with great ambition to get to the EPL. Wolves is a strange but classic example.

It's better to sometimes be somewhere you are valued and getting playing time. Than rotting away in an EPL club without playing time.

As you see its not so simplistic as you may think.

So the idea of a BIG LIE is not proven and it is not an act of gullibility to believe it.

Nobody, I repeat nobody would reject a chance at a league to move to a lower league because of playing chance

He may move to a lower club in the same league but not to a lower league
