Update on the notification icons on the Pocophone, the latest beta update brought some form of temporary fix for this. Whenever you receive notifications, the icons flashes on the status bar for like 5 seconds before reverting back to the clock. E better pass nothing.
D Omoro own is not free. Saw $. 99 attached to it

Madam please what can you say on this Poco F1.

If you want performance over aesthetics, go for it.

Am very much satisfied with the battery life and camera, my only challenge which was the notification icons not displaying is receiving attention. For the price I paid for it, I dey very ok.

Ooh, now I see the workability of gcam. I think it's basically a function of software that still has to work within the limit of the hardware prowess of the device it's installed in.
Exactly. But it shows that to an extent, software really helps to bring out the best out of an hardware

I took a selfie picture on my mi max 2 using both stock camera and gcam. The gcam pix was so clear that it had too much shiny detail. Even the hairs on my face were appearing shiny.

Although it came out clearer than stock camera, I actually preferred the pix from the stock camera because it looked more real life. If I look in real life like what the gcam shows, I go dey even fear myself.

This is encouraging macbeyland...... Many of you will drive customers a way with ur negative reviews just because of camera

And very ironic that the ones crying over the camera are guys, not seen the few ladies on here complain about the camera of their devices. lolllllll.

Yes o! Cos when our phones can take mind blowing pictures, the girls go dey rush us grin tongue

But seriously, I hardly take personal pictures with my phone camera.. It's just for my wife and kids.. And gcam is a bit technical even in usage, so I didn't install it on my wife's phone. She's using her redmi note 5 as it is without any rooting /customisation cos I know she's not tech inclined and she won't be able to handle any issues that may result from tinkering with her phone.

She once asked me to install gcam, I just lied to her...that her phone does not support it. I already have so much to deal with, I don't want to add technical support for her phone to the list grin
She's using her phone and enjoying it. However, anytime we have s family outing, she always wants to take pictures, so we always default to gcam on my phone as the pictures are way better.

Also I think the outcome of pictures also has to do a lot with the person taking the pictures. Pictures I take with her phone is always better than the one she takes.

So those saying redmi note 5 camera is poo are actually doing something wrong.

Got the Note5 and I absolutely love the phone to bits. It's very immersive and aesthetic when compared to its mates in the same spec or price level.

I appreciate the fact that as much as xiaomi tries to bring the best of specs at very affordable prices, but there are few areas they seriously need to work on. Not to sound like an Oliver twist (because with the pricing, this phone company doesn't owe us any better IMO) but there are three major areas I feel needs work on the note 5.

1. The notification light on the RN5.

My second smartphone was a Sony Xperia V. At that time, it was a worthy gladiator with mad specs. I was the envy of many. I got so familiar with my phone so much so that the notification light was sort of perfectly interactive. I knew if I had twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, or Quora notifications because I enabled distinctive colours for the different apps on my phone. Once my light goes green, I have WhatsApp messages, blue for twitter, red for Quora, and so on. It didn't blink like it was hungry and weak just as the Note5 does. The lighting was perfect and on time. This technology was perfected by Sony in 2011.. I think xiaomi can do something here, because one of the reasons I went for this phone is because of the notification light and I'm not impressed at all.

2. I don't know if it's just me, but I still try to shade my screen under sunlight to check my phone. Even at maximum brightness, I still can't see what's on the screen when I'm under the sun. Another area that definitely needs to be improved..

3. The camera.

At first I wasn't insecure about my RN5 camera because compared to where I was coming from, I had made a huge step up with the Note5. It takes brilliant shots. Colours are nice. People still envy me. But then I started making research about this gcam I'm seeing everywhere on this thread and it turns out that as much as I think my camera is a god compared to these Infinix and Tecno phones littered everywhere, it can get better. I know Xiaomi is capable of such software engineering or maybe tweak the stock camera a little bit to perform a lit bit better, just a little. Because if they can at least try to focus on this aspect, they'll win much more fans from Apple and the rest.

But I love this phone all the same.

Check this out bro, the price of mi 6x is lower than the rn5; would you go for the mi 6x despite its battery cap and lack of headphone and external memory card slot?

No. 1
This can be resolved via apps on play store or when Xiaomi decides to issue a fix via software update

No. 2
This already exist on the device. Enable Automatic Brightness level under Display menu on your device settings.

No. 3
You basically got the quality commensurate to the cost of the device. It's not a flagship device so a lot is traded away to make it cheap.

Enjoy your device and shut your eyes or ears to negativity grin

Way to go man! The only issue I have with the camera is when I take shots through an app like Whatsapp, it comes out blurry compared to taking it directly on the phone's camera app.

No it can't. I have tried. Plus I'm hoping xiaomi does something about it. That's basically what I typed up there..

Did you see the part where I typed that even at maximum brightness it's still difficult to see? Check unboxing videos on YouTube. The unboxers have complained about the same thing. I think I do sort of understand the concept of automatic brightness fairly enough, I wouldn't be using it if I didn't.
