A warm good morning to everyone on this thread, it’s been a while I last posted on this forum especially this thread. I wanted to give you guys an update of my journey so far, in medical school. Personally for me I’d love to give a day to day account of my sojourn but time won’t permit, as I have to squeeze time out of my schedule, to explain/pass one or more information I think might be useful. I won’t for once fail to appreciate the creator of this thread because it was from this thread, I had an overview of what “medicine” entails. This thread was a source of information and motivation, for I and other aspirants back then because the use of whatsapp wasn’t so much rampart, in fact there wasn’t any thread on the internet bringing together aspirants, medical students and graduates. I am currently in my path and pharm posting and will soon be commencing, my surgery posting in a week time. My med school….. our med school is the college of medicine, university of ibadan (which most of you know is acclaimed to be the best. It’s called the real madrid of all medical school in west Africa but don’t mind my sense of humour, medicine is same everywhere in Nigeria). SPOILER’S ALERT 1: If you think medicine is a course that you want to do so as to make quick money, please stay off because there are lot of stuff that you can do in order to earn such (entrepreneurship is chief among them). I will be discussing my experience under the the following headings Preclinicals Clinicals Extracurricular activities Stress Finances Afterthoughts Preclinicals: I won’t bore you with too much details because most of you, are already conversant with what is been taught in preclinicals. We were taught topics and principles in basic medical courses like anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. They are the foundations of the medical sciences because whatever that’s taught in preclinicals is definitely applicable to most aspect of medicine and everyday clinical practices. The basic medical courses in Ibadan Med School include: Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Medical biostatistics. Those courses are further divided into several components, for example Anatomy is divided into : 1. Embryology 2. Histology 3. Gross anatomy 4. neuro anatomy. Physiology and biochemistry also have topics and subtopics/subcomponents. Of all the courses in basic medical courses I am a bit more predisposed to anatomy (I kind of like something I could touch and see). There’s a lot to read, stuffs to cram, lot of assignments to work on. Passing through preclinical school could be a bit overwhelming and challenging, in fact it is always challenging for most medical students. 26 Likes 4 Shares |

You can study in the Philippines and save yourself the hassle of Nigerian education system. Education in the Philippines is affordable and stress free. Don't allow your dream to die in Nigeria.
