For years, My mind has been battling between these two models of Development.

1) Focused Development: igbos concentrating their investment mostly Into major cities in igboland instead of developing sparsely populated rural areas. (eg lagos model)

2) Dispersed Development: igbos continues doing what they are doing now and develop every nook and cranny. ( eg Anambra) but Development remains spreadout.

Think before you respond because both types have their advantages and disadvantages.

Some people might argue that we are doing both which is true but is it really an effective way of development in the mordern era where cites are now the major engines of growth.

2) Don't ever assume he will stepdown in 2023 for an Igbo President.

However, if Atiku doesn't win this 2019 election inspire of overwhelming Igbo support, it will be difficult for the Southeast to succeed Buhari in 2023.

I agree with you. We put all our eggs in one basket in 2015, but 2019 is very strategic because if we do the same mistake, in 2023 yorubas will hijack APC if Buhari wins. I hear Ekweremmadu is on his way to APC, if it's true then we must rally behind him too

Lekki-Epe and Lekki-Ikoyi suspended bridge were built with PPP.
Murtalar Muhammed Airport-2 was built by Babalakin's BiCourtney Aviation.

There are private investments in infrastructure all over the civilized world.

Then the Federal Government should concession The Second Niger Bridge then if they are not willing to build it. I strongly disgree with the mindset of asking igbos to contribute money to build the bridge or asking the state government to do it. If the federal government cannot build common Niger bridge, why are we still Nigerians? The ones you mention were not inter state bridges. It is completely a state affair

No wonder, Lasgidiowner and Onuebonyi don't operate simultaneously and both like arguments.

nnamdijonathan:

Did you ask yourself this question: "where is the Onuebonyi moniker"?
That Lasgidiowner moniker is operated by the same person behind the Onuebonyi moniker and other Chino monikers. If you don't stop the argument with him now, he will argue with you till page 400. Chino is good at knocking people off balance psychologically with his posts and it seems he has gotten you.

Is Murtalar Muhammed Airport a State affair?
Are you aware that in 2007, just before he left office, Obasanjo concessioned Lagos-Ibadan express way but Jonathan Administration made it impossible to implement the concession.

Airports is not the same as Bridge. Meanwhile all the projects you are listing are in the south west. Why is the FG not concessioning Enugu/Onitsha expressway, Second Niger Bridge etc? As long as we are still part of Nigeria we must pressure the FG to complete those projects. Nothing more nothing less

Exactly the problem. If we support Atiku and Buhari wins, we will suffer lack of FG presence till 2023, if Atiku wins, he will not step down for an Igbo man to rule in 2023. If we decide to share our votes between APC and PDP in 2019 in order to be neutral, any candidate that wins will surly make us pay dearly for it and if it is Buhari that wins, we are finished.
1914 amalgamation was the biggest mistake that ever happened to us, now, there is no going back.

The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, on Monday said Igbo leaders and governors of the zone never disagreed with his nomination but disagreed with the process.

Mr Obi who visited Governor David Umahi in the Government House Abakalikii said he was in the state to seek the support of Mr Umahi.

“Umahi is our leader, he is a man of impeccable character. He was at the centre of the storm but I want to tell the people that Umahi and Igbo leaders were misrepresented badly.

“Igbo leaders never disagreed with my nomination as VP candidate but disagreed with the process; but I am here to solicit for your support,” he said.

The former Anambra governor said the believes the current ruling party in Nigeria, APC, was mismanaging the economy.

“PDP as a party is desirous of returning to power at the center not just because we want to return to power but because we have seen that in our country Nigeria every indices of development today is heading south and we cannot continue that way.

“In terms of borrowing and all other indices everything is heading south. So PDP wants to come back and continue rebuilding the nation,” Mr Obi added.

Reacting, Mr Umahi commended the former governor for his humility and described him as an asset to the country and the PDP.

He promised to support Mr Obi and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He noted that the zone will still meet with Mr Abubakar to discuss his plans for the region.

“I have every reason to be happy very with you. There is no way even if I was nominated I will be the vice presidential candidate. I still have more than four years as a governor. Secondly, we have always supported ourselves. During my campaign, you came and even gave us vehicles.
“A lot of people have understood that there is nobody that is against our son, nobody has anything against you and that’s why everywhere you go, the South-east governors will roll out their drums. But no governor in the South-east will say the process, I approve of it; and he (Obi) didn’t approve of it. He told me, ‘look if I were in your position, I will be angrier’ and that is an honest man who understands what his people are saying.

“And so sir, you have done very well because what you did is to save the party. I feel that all these noise they are making is marketing the party. You have saved the party and I want you to keep on explaining to those who didn’t understand so that they can understand”.

“With this, the presidential candidate has said look I am coming to the South-east to discuss with you. We South-east people have never gone into presidential election with negotiation, nobody has thought of that. This is the only opportunity we are going to have to ask the
presidential candidate what is it that you are going give us.

“Probably, if we didn’t raise eyebrow about that, we would have probably gone into the victory and we now begin to say we are now marginalised. I will never repent on that that which is going to come to South-east. When we see what is going to come to South-east, we will sit down and ask what Ebonyi will get. We have close to 1.5 million votes but we are working to deliver 1.3 million votes. That’s the fact and with that we will be saying what is coming to South-east and what is it that will come to us, this is very important.

“I am a straight forward person. If we are giving support to PDP, we are giving support to PDP and there is no doubt about that. We are PDP, no more no less.

“Sir, we will give you the support but we must see our presidential candidate to discuss with us what he has for South-east and Ebonyi.”
Umahi is doing well as the Igbo leader as confirmed by peter obi.

we will also deliver 1.3m votes to Atiku/Obi...

I dont think ebonyi has up to 1 million votes
it's not about what u think but reality..take a look at the emboldened below
Godswill Obioma, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ebonyi, has described vote-buying as “a virus ” capable of destroying Nigeria's democracy if not `killed.’
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that he spoke on Tuesday, October 9, in Abakaliki at a meeting between the commission and leaders of registered political parties.
NAIJ.com gathers that the election officer also warned stakeholders against vote-buying, vote-selling and all forms of violations of the electoral laws and the electoral guidelines, before, during and after the elections.
READ ALSO: Negotiations break down as FG reportedly offers N25,000 as new minimum wage
He said: “Vote-buying is a virus, it is the engine that bedevils development, we should collectively destroy the virus before it kills our democracy.
“We assure the people of Ebonyi that under our watch, the commission will conduct free, fair, credible and violence-free elections, and that all votes must count.” .
According to him, estimated 1,475,387 people are expected to vote in the 2019 general elections in Ebonyi.
Obioman, however, said that the final figures would be confirmed after the consolidation of the figures and the process of Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) has been concluded.
He explained that the number of registered voters in Ebonyi before the 2017 voter registration stood at 1,117,770, but added that the number increased to 1,475,387 following the additional registration of 357,617 voters during the 2017 /2018 registration.
He noted that the consultative meeting was the first since the suspension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
Obioma said that the meeting provided platform to brief the party leaders on preparations to conduct peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible elections, and also brainstorm on ways to make the elections successful in the state.
He said: “This meeting is convened to keep the political stakeholders abreast of our preparations for the 2019 elections in Ebonyi and to seek their support.
“This is a way of cascading the commission’s policies and programmes to the stakeholders at grassroots and the general public and thus carry all stakeholders, especially political parties along."
He also decried the low rate of PVCs collection in the state, and appealed to party leaders to intensify sensitisation and enlightenment campaigns to mobilise registered voters who have yet to collect, to go and get their PVCs.
He said: “At the end of 2017; 19,079 PVCs out of 77,397 released by the INEC headquarters were collected by their owners leaving a total of 58,318 unclaimed cards.
“In first quarter of 2018; 58,247 PVCs were released for the state; and we are yet to determine the total number collected because collection is still ongoing."
The resident commissioner added that only 5,075 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were of voters compared to 2015 general elections.
That's the fact, now change your wrong thoughts.. lol.. grin grin

Then what is Imo state supposed to be doing? What do you need airport for when you are not an economically viable state? Onitsha on the other hand has rose to become the largest commercial center in West Africa, Nnewi has also grown to be the auto city with some vehicle manufacturing centers, Awka has been growing as the fastest developing city east of the Niger.

Now tell us what your Imo state has been doing to develop Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe to be real cities? What does Imo state actually needs an airport for when the state barely have roads? Do you have jobs in Imo state? What does Imo state needs airport for when the state does not have any form of economic presence?

Let us tell ourselves the truth, only Anambra, and maybe Abia to some extent that truly needs an airport in the SE. Anambra with the largest population in the SE needs at least 2 airports(One domestic and one International). Thank goodness that Anambra has since kicked off the construction of its own airport.

The problem is not what imo state is doing with their airport. The problem is what igbos are not doing with imo airports. We should stop this attitude that imo state airport is for imo state people alone. With the right agreements, the whole of igboland should benefit from the cargo airport built in the state.

Moreover, it is not the fault of imo that anambra did not look into the building of airport all these years. With rising economic needs, the airport in anambra should as a matter of urgency stalled and money diverted into more fruitful pursuits that will earn us more than what we are earning at the moment.

Anambra has failed to look into its comparative advantage and expand on it. Alibaba, Amazon and the Walmart are all concepts of basic buying and selling that the western world has modernized and making billions of dollars from. China currently has the biggest mall in the world and it generates billions of dollars yearly. Onitsha is strategically located and can stand firmly as a very good substitute to lock-jammed lagos due to ease of business but we have stopped tapping on the 70million-plus market that skip onitsha and still run to lagos.

I am not saying the people are not trying but we can do better and key into this modernization. We can provide 500,000 jobs without even trying if we can plan the economy well.
Re: . by SpaceTour: 2:38pm On Oct 23, 2018
What you are saying is absolutely rubbish. Anambra needs not just an airport but an international airport. Anambra has carve a niche for itself as the economic hub of the SE without seaport nor airport. Now the economy of Anambra is moving from commerce to industrialisation. Now there is a new development in ATK that will be linked to the airport when completed.

With the Onitsha Port and Anambra International airport, then the entire east is good to go. Aviation development is very critical economic development of any state, and Obiano saw this need to take the economy of the state to yet another level, which is very good. All the states in the SE will benefit from the Anambra International airport, there is no need for any airport in Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi etc. All of them should key into Anambra airport when completed. I think that is the right thing to do.

It is not being emotional, it is about saying it the way it is. Every state should develop the infrastructure that is suitable for it and its people. Why the rude intro?
Every state in the east should have its own international airport and provide employment for its residents through the airports. The air traffic will be evenly divided across the states and it will be left for the state governments to make their states more viable to attract more traffic.

The airports may not be built now, they can be built later when the state becomes more viable. As we currently speak, I am 100% satisfied with the 2 airports in the East.
