Good day people.

1. Where can I buy health insurance for family of three? Cheap and affordable options pls. We are landing next month

2. My daughter will need to complete her immunization in February 2019 (one year). Will I have to pay for her to get the immunization if we've not got our health card?

3. Any advice of which medication to bring to Canada to avoid stories that touch?

Please, can any one recommend a good and reliable studio where i can take PR card photos in PH? My photos have been rejected twice so far and i do not want to take chances anymore as my PR card is long overdue. I am based in PH and i will appreciate if someone can recommend a studio they have used in PH and the photos were not rejected.

Thanks.

Has anyone ever booked their landing flight through IOM before, or at least asked them for their quote and considered their prices before booking privately? I know that for Australia its sometimes cheaper and they even offer extra baggage allowance.

To the best of my search abilities there's been no mention of IOM flight assistance on this thread.

Read about this somewhere on this thread...I'm not exactly sure but it was PM things. I just tired searching for it but couldn't find it. Now that you asked again i'm very much interested in knowing .

Wow! Feels good to be a bona fide member of this thread. Now I can post here confidently.

1. Where can I buy health insurance for family of three? Cheap and affordable options pls. We are landing next month - Google Bluecross. Its wise to do it before you land so you can get coverage immediately.

2. My daughter will need to complete her immunization in February 2019 (one year). Will I have to pay for her to get the immunization if we've not got our health card? You most likely would. Just be prepared.

3. Any advice of which medication to bring to Canada to avoid stories that touch? antibiotics you are sure you don't react to, malaria meds,

I tried using them, my family friend used them. When I sent in my info to them and asked for terms of engagement, they didn't respond again. SO I booked myself.

please oooo ooooooo i will be travelling by December,

is it better to leave my Naira in my account or do i need to change it ?

if yes, please what is the process for changing ?

Bikonu, please help this ontondo grin grin grin

I'd advise you convert and keep in a dorm account in naija. come with some cash, open account here and do transfer. Just to avoid drama with naija officials n having to declare. I did same, also printed account statement, at the entry point, when I was asked I explained I had cash and the rest in account, was about showing account statement, the lady asked me to go.

As a PR holder, can I get admission for MSc program is medical microbiology related courses with second class lower division? I know it is almost impossible to get it when applying from outside Canada

Your PR will have no impact on if you get admitted or not. You'll need to do a course by course evaluation of your credentials, then apply to the school. Or contact the school and speak with someone let them advise. They may have alternative pathways if your grades are insufficient.

Please can you add me to the Nigerian Canadian whatsapp group..

TheCongo2:

Yesterday I took a Nigerian couple to a DriveTest Center to get their Ontario driver's licenses.
The couple had landed in Canada last week and was introduced to me by a Nairaland friend who had also landed last week with his family.

My Nairaland friend has lived in France before and has a French driver's license. Therefore, he was given a full G Ontario license without undergoing any testing. As a result of his G license, he is only paying $165 monthly on his car insurance which is very cheap comparing to what a lot of newcomers are playing.

As for the couple that I took to the DriveTest Center, they had to apply for their G1 Ontario license before moving to G2 or Full G license.
This is where the FRSC letter comes into play. (I will come back with more details about our trip to the DriveTest Center)

To answer your question, according to the Nigerian couple, only the FRSC office in Abuja can issue the FRSC letter. However, you need NOT to travel to Abuja to get the FRSC letter. You can apply for it from anywhere in Nigeria.

To get the FRSC letter, You can follow the following steps that the couple had learned from a Nigerian-Canadian Whatsapp group:

1st step - Send an email with your driver's license details to the FRSC Abuja Office requesting a FRSC letter or driving record.
You are more likely NOT to receive a reply from the FRSC Abuja office.

2nd step- Follow up your email by contacting this Abuja FRSC Employee (Sule - phone number 2348033795031)
Sule will access the FRSC Database and will write for you the FRSC letter.
I was also told that the Service provided by Sule is free of charge . The only money you will send to him is for the shipment of the FRSC letter to you.

Bonne chance

You may need to hold on to this. Find out if your daughter can have the immunization before you move. Else, there maybe free immunization for kids. The 3 months insurance maybe a waste of money. Also, insurance brokers know how to upsell. You might want 3 months before you know you have done 1 year because they will hook you on tantalizing offers. Furthermore, you need to know what kind of health coverage you want, plus 3 months is not so far. If you fall ill, seeing a doctor won’t exceed $900. Don’t scream, with OHIP, seeing a doctor is free, but you buy drugs. Many drugs are not covered under OHIP

Seniors please i need advice, I plan soft landing in dec to spend about 7weeks. Family of 6 which include a 5months old and a 2 yrs old. I am looking at getting a double stroller from here(i got a fair deal) to use for the 2 youngest kids. but I was thinking since its winter, will I really be needing it? How is movement with kids in winter? I am really indecisive as I dont want to waste money on something if it wont be useful.

My brother I no go lie you - it’s a long thing. You want to have an idea of how cold this place can; multiple the cold air from your freezer by 100 - then imagine struggling with your kids inside it. Please try to get a car to reduce the stress

I believe all other things being equal, most schools give PRs or citizens admission preference.
