Mourinho should have thrown Tahith Chong on with 10-15 minutes to go yesterday, especially after Juve took Cuadrado off for a defender.

Juve dominated the first half with superior coaching and obvious training ground moves/tactics e.g Dybala to midfield drawing out CB + Cuadrado into the box drawing in the FB+ Cancelo advancing to the wing.

The problem with our midfield is that Pogba and Matic despite being very good are usually slower than their opponents. These are not direct players. United will need a third midfielder who can quickly penetrate tight areas in the opposition half. Pogba is a world class of his own, but he needs a very fast and direct midfielder beside him. Matic is the ball winner and hardly loses possession, but he is very very slow. When you add Luke Shaw who is more likely to pass to Linderlof or Matic instead of pushing forward, you can see why our opponents easily regroup before we get to their final third.

You need players to implement a tactics. If it were just about tactics, new coaches would not be buying players. Even Guardiola bought many players despite inheriting a team that finish in UCL semi final

The man marking has been our trademark for a long time even before Mourinho came. We have suffered from set play because of man marking, and I remember suggesting many years ago we do zonal marking from set play. I see some top teams do it. We can even combine both. To me, if you are evenly spread in your box, you will be able to read the flight of the ball better and clear. But when man marking, you chase players about and lose sight of the ball.

On the above goal, Matic made a mistake by not following Dybala closely enough. At one point Matic reduced his speed thinking the ball will be cleared. These kind of things make Carrick to be the most intelligent DM we have had.

I wish we have a player like Dybala or Mbappe on our right side.

Is Valencia a top team? That they managed to leave Old Trafford with a point is a negative testimony to where we are presently.
Juventus have a stable defence yes but how about the midfield? Is Pjanic, Bentacur and Matuidi better than Pogba, Matic and Mata? No...So why were we dominated? Simple, tactical set up, Cancel was advancing at every opportunity along with Sandro who was surprising a bit conservative in the process stretching our midfield.
Up front, Dybala and Ronaldo choosed their moment to get into the box, they spent the entirety of the match on the wings and through the AM position dragging our CBs all over the place and in process distorting our defensive shape...This is tactics.
