Iqas is not for the faint hearted o. Those guys really take their time. Not in hurry at all. Took May to October 2018 to complete the entire process.

Hey guys I need your help pls, I submitted my application in June, AOR is June 24. I've been stuck on IP1 for months now so I sent a mail to enquire about my application, and was told that my file is at my local visa office, which leaves me a bit confused. I thought files go to local visa offices towards the end when you've already passed 1p1, 1p2, NA stages, however i'm still stuck on 1P1. What do u guys think?
PS - I've already ordered my GCMS notes

I can't really call what I have a study plan.

I had a month to prepare for the IELTS exam. I dedicated 2hrs daily (weekday) and about 3hrs daily (weekend) to the preparation.

1. I started by watching introductory videos to understand the structure of the exam (My first time of attempting the exam). There are some good videos on youtube (between 15 to 30 min long). Once I get a good video, I save it in a folder that I created on youtube.

2. I downloaded come materials from the internet (Cambridge series). That numbered book - Series 1 to 12/13. I just picked a couple of them with the audio file for the listening section.

3. I did some exercises to assess my level/establish baseline performance. The exercise also helped me to understand my weak points and areas of strength. I did 2each of LR and I left W till a little later.

4. I started watched specific videos on the LSWR sections from youtube (IELTSLIZ and other ones. Several links have been shared here). 45min of video and 1hr practice of R or L daily. In that way, I was able to do about 10 L&R exercises. For the listening, practice using a headset and try to simulate the exam condition as much as possible - Don't pause recordings and resist the temptation to rewind when you miss something out.

5. About 10days to the exam, I was quite confident with the L&R section, so I focused on the W and S section. That was when I downloaded the speaking app I talked about. For the W, I downloaded the exam answer sheet from the internet and that was what I was using to practice. I also watched a specific video on writing - There is this guy - 'Jay', I think he has the best videos on W. I did about 5 writing practices (section 1&2)

6. Make sure you do your corrections when you finish all the exercise. The speaking app records your voice. Listen to it very well and pick out your mistakes.

That was how I prepared for the exam. I hope it made sense sha.

All the best!

hello. Send an email to cpc ottawa (and your local vo if you know where your file has been assigned) requesting for an extension of the deadline for submission of new medicals. Ensure that the subject of the email has "urgent" and the request for deadline extension in it. In the body of the email, explain that the reason is because the earliest available appointment with an approved panel physician is after the deadline. Send same by cse and you should get a response within 2 business days.

PPR IS HERE grin grin grin

IELTS – February 1st
ITA – February 21st
AOR – March 16th
IP2- October 23rd
PPR – October 24th

First week of January, I finally decided to see what all the hullabaloo was about Canadian express entry in order to decide whether or not it will be appropriate for me. I spent the week reading up on the express entry process and reading the living in Canada thread. On the 9th of January, my journey officially started. I paid for WES and applied for transcript. About a week later, I paid for BC IELTS. It was like the heavens approved of my decision, ECA was ready 1st week of February and I did not even have to pay for transcripts as my University sent them FOC. I passed IELTS and family came through for POF making my CRS score 476. I wore my swimming trunk and took the plunge. Everything was moving smoothly. I was already planning June landing BUT London decided to teach me a lesson.

Some days after AOR, I received the dreaded “how to find a job in Canada” mail. From my GCMS notes the email coincided with the date my file was transferred to London. For 6 months, my file was gathering dust in London Visa Office. Also, my eligibility changed from met to not met when it was sent to London. After 6 months, I raised a CSE and was informed that my file had been transferred to Kyiv, Ukraine. In October, I sent a mail to Ralph Goodale and he responded that my eligibility had passed. Shortly afterwards, I moved to NA2, then IP2 and finally received the long awaited PPR.

Throughout this journey, I experienced so many emotions; joy, sadness, hope, euphoria, dejection etc. It was an emotional tasking something but God has done it. Delay is not denial. It finally ended in praise.

Proof of employment – My reference letter was short, only three duties were stated on it. I sha attached payslips, letter of employment, confirmation and promotion to avoid stories that touch

POF – I thought I did everything right for this section but it was this section that sent me to London. My POF had review required on it. I know that some people with review required remain in Ottawa but the one thing almost everyone in the London whatsapp group had in common was that review was required for one or more sections.

IELTS - I stammered and stuttered during my speaking test and did not even finish the two minutes but thankfully, I still got enough points to apply

Finally Nairalanders, you guys are a fantastic bunch of people. Thanks to everyone that has helped in growing this express entry thread. It is a great source of information and was very helpful to me.
Congrats! sorry to ask..what did you do wrong with your POF arrangement that made your application move to London?

I am not sure the bolded had anything to do with why your application was sent to London sha.

I have no idea because I even got bank letter in the required format and added pension 25% to take care of fluctuations. I thought I was meticulous with my application but it was the section that needed to be reviewed. I saw other peoples GCMS that stated things like- "..... amount in .... bank." While mine stated "review required, .....amount needed for a family of one"

Based on the little information I've gathered from reading this thread from part 1 up until part 5, I have come to the conclusion that;

1. A lot of people are ignorant.

2. A lot of people want to be spoon-fed.

3. A lot of people have low IQ.

4. A lot of people have a strong sense of entitlement.

5. A lot of people are not patient.

6. A lot of people don't plan ahead.

7. A lot of people want the easy way out.

8. A lot of people don't know how to use the 'search button' on Nairaland or even google.

9. A lot of people don't research/check any information they get before using or spreading it.

10. A lot of these category of people will not like this post.

NOTE: This is not directed at anyone in particular. If you think this post applies to you, then it means you are guilty of one or more of the above points raised. smiley

Guys does the 'how to find a job in Canada' email have anything to do with the visa office your application is sent to? I got the email immediately I created my profile before I even got ITA.

Also after submission on the 8th of October I got an Acknowledgement of Receipt email. I'm not sure it's the same AOR because from people's timelines it seems to come weeks after submission
