PRESS RELEASE

INTERNAL SECURITY: NAF DEPLOYS SPECIAL FORCES PERSONNEL, AIR ASSETS TO KADUNA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) yesterday, 28 October 2018, deployed a detachment of Special Forces personnel to Kaduna in support of Internal Security operations in the State. The detachment will join other NAF personnel in Kaduna and other security agencies to ensure that the spate of senseless killings in some parts of the State is brought to a complete end and normalcy expeditiously restored. The deployment is in addition to the earlier deployment of 2 helicopters and a DA-42 Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft on 22 October 2018, which have since been conducting aerial patrols over flash points in the State.

Curious to know why morroccan army is not third in Africa for globalfire power website for its ranking
I also find it puzzling that South-Africa is rated above Nigeria. undecided undecided

Any ranking that puts South-Africa above Nigeria is not credible.

No pun intended to my South-African friends.

I also think rankings should take into account each individual nation's capability to deal with each nation's current threats.

What happened? I am seeing less of tavor and more of Beryl (or is that upgraded AK) with NAF personnel, are they switching over?

There's no complete list for both Nations. However information can be gotten.

On the navy side, South-Africa has a better equipped navy to deal with a conventional threat. Nigeria on the other hand has a far better navy to deal with an unconventional threat.

On the Air Force side, capabilities are complementary. They lack capable ISR platforms, we have more attack helicopters than they do. We have dedicated CAS in the shape of the Tucano, they don't. With the JF-17 now confirmed, the Nigerian Air Force now has a 4th Generation fighter jet to complement with the F-7. The Nigerian Air Force also has a dedicated special operations unit, a capability not available in the SAAF.

On the ground, Nigeria has a larger, more experienced army. On the armour side, the South-Africans have more armour in certain areas than Nigeria. While we have more tanks and artillery than they do.

Capabilities vary and complement in different areas.

I think it's a upgraded AK with all wooden parts replaced with polymer parts. I spot also a polymer magazine. All in all it differs much from the Beryl, any new build AK should have a upper receiver with a rail.

Its a comparison of national ability between nations - their firepower

So obviously, it is a comparison of nation v nation. Hence why RSA comes off tops.

These riffle are not upgraded ; I mean the wooden part been replaced by polymer parts but one can boldly tell they are of AK variants/derivatives.
They are new stalks in the NAF inventories, have just seen pictures of them been delivered to the NAF.

Don't asked for pictures, am not privileged to post them.

The fact the rifle has polymer, picatinny, fore-grip and a different muzzle break means it's an upgraded or more modern AK.

I think the problem with the Tavor is it's 5.56mm round. Not enough stopping power for the Nigerian military.

Rankings also don't include net centric warfare capability: Data links, C2 systems, Bluefor tracking systems, Satellite systems,Radio/communication systems, Radar systems ect ect...........This is where IMO South Africa has an advantage over most countries not just in Africa but in the world. Outside NATO(incl Japan and S.Korea who also use link 16), Russia, China and India, South Africa is the only other country that has developed and operates a defence wide tactical data link.

Because they have pica tinny, fore-grip and different muzzle break does not mean they are upgraded riffles.

But yes they are modern AK variants.

Pic: AK47/galil.......Yes literally the exact same firing system as a galil, only the outside looks different......one could even argue that it's not an upgrade at all.

I see, but I wondered the rifle has a rail on the upper foregripp but not on the upper receiver. Upper receiver rails are way more versatile and almost standard on new rifles. In nature (old) rifles are just upgraded with a set of affordable polymer parts (100$), while the aluminium upper receiver alone is often too costly to replace (200$). This how I came to this conclusion.
