Young man, the army Job is not by muscle rather endurance and patience especially for those of you that applied for SSC,am not saying you should not train but reserve your energy for a very rigorous training ever,am not trying to scare you but all my course mate's that came to NDA with muscle dashed, some lost their lives,.Your priority now should be how to make the list.

I will be around to help clear any doubt you might have, i forgot my password for my initial nairaland account, had to open a new one all thanks to the training,i bet you will not be able to remember your ATM pin and other vital password so i just you buy a jotter and write it down
Sheff man I guess u are SSC 44 seriously I know is not about muscle but do u want me to sit and watch another person take my place in screening abeg when I become a cadet I will start enduring. Pls can ur take us through from ur credentials screening till last day to get a glimpse of what to expect. Have heard from others ooo but Der is alwayz 2 sides to a coin pls if u can

Very good,,IF You are within the age bracket go for ssc because there's no difference in role now, many dssc offrs are in front line now,as dssc you don't write exams hence your promotion depends on your immediate superior and commading officers whereas ssc promotion largely depends on your ability to pass your exams, weather they like you or not you will be promoted but dssc once you are charged and your PER spoilt just forget it.
I totally disagree with you as per SSC . Apart from passing the exam, you have to be recommended for promotion or else stagnancy.

Holla!!! Anyone in the room gat an idea..Pls does one being shortsighted(uses glasses) in any way disqualify one during medicals at the selection board for DSSC.
What's your lens power? If it's low, then you can be considered. If high, old boy still apply you can still scale through God willing

If you are meant to be,no one will take your space,in terms of credential screening just ensure you have document as required, tally your age with your documents,if you can get letter of attestation from your former institution it will speak volume and finally pray that the selection process favors you.

I spoke with an SSC officer who is now a Major and he explained in details how promotion is done. After the exams (some don't even pass mind you), there will be a board that will discuss each candidate. If they fit his character has been satisfactory and he deserves promotion, they will promote him. But if not, let him score 10000/100 they won't promote him

Yes,he is correct but its not restricted ,there's a promotion board for every rank and irrespective of type of commission, there are so many things involved,if you don't pass your exams you will not even be considered, for him to be a Major it means he has successfully passed all the hurdles, good luck to you all

Promotion for combatants is not based on that alone,SSC officers have alot of hurdles to cross, apart from convertion, you have to write Lt to Captain exam,Captain to Maj and senior staff course alongside regular officers, which DSSC doesn't write.Let me advice all of you,if you know you are not sound intellectually better look for another thing to do,to avoid spending your youthful age in something that may not last, this is because not everybody will convert to Regular and there's i rank limit if you can't convert, kindly check your selves very well

That's what i want to hear, once you surmount all the obstacles you will enjoy to the fullest, you can rise to any rank, you can become Corp commander,GOC etc,you might also be lucky to be posted to a non combat arm like finance,ST,Ordnanace,Public relations and etc,at that rank you can become a commanding officer, some thing that your dssc counter part can not smell....... .Just pay the Price now and enjoy later,..... .. The training is deadly, please gain gas and reserve your energy... That doesn't mean you should not be involved in minor morning exercise,30 push ups per minute...... Good luck guys

My only problem is I was diagnosed with Hepatits b. But it was a shock to me as I never felt any sign associated with hepatitis,I never knew,I taught it was a fabrication the navy did to disqualify me but when I came back I tested positive. I went for LFT,they said it has not affected any part of my body or internal system and it will go on its own. For over a year now it has not left. My question is: WHY DO THE MILITARY DISQUALIFY ONE COZ OF HEPATITIS? IS THERE A WAY OUT FOR ME OR I SHOULD JUST GIVE UP? this is the only obstacle I have. I got 2.1,24years old,1.75m,58kg,every requirement I have! Please your responses!

if your first degree is third class don't bother applying, even if you scale through you will be withdrawn 2 or 3 days to POP and don't ever make the mistake of upgrading or forging any certificate, some of our course mates that forged certificate are still in guard room

Good job you're doing here sir. God bless kiss

Please I need ur experience and advise.
I have a knack for being in a Spy ring, Intelligence circle, Secret service, etc
I couldn't apply for Intelligence Corps under DSSC because my course was not listed.
And since age is still on my side, I applied for SSC.

what are my chances of being posted to the Intelligence Corps, Defense Intelligence Agency, or Public Relation ?

They did you a favour by asking you to go,Hepatis B is deadly, you can easily infect fellow cadets, you can die of complications, since it has not affected your vital as shown on your liver function test i suggest you pray and take your medications,if it show's during selection board then take it as the will of God.Hepatitis B and HIV are vital during the selection board, good luck

Your chances of going to Intelligence Corp is 100%,you will enjoy it more as a combatant, almost half of us was sent to non combat arm,so pray to be shortlisted, those of you that read finance related courses instead of struggling position with education, legal and medical candidates ,its better you apply through SSC and suffer once,

You can treat Hepatitis B now. Go to a teaching hospital. They'll give you antiretroviral drugs.
Treatment of Hepatitis B takes 6 months. But the virus can disappear from your blood before screening. Just start treatment ASAP. Wish you the very best
