Money market? At the current market of Tbills, money market doesn’t seem like a better offer. At my last enquiry at FBN about mutual funds or so, the attendant told me it was a 7% interest rate. I was disturbed considering that I’d gotten about 13% profit on Tbills. Perhaps, there’s something I don’t know about money market in general. strategist007: |

ahiboilandgas: At the rate at which CBN is defending Naira, they only have to increase rates to attract foreign Investors... January/ February would definitely be a good time.....hoping that Oil price doesnt go down faster than envisaged.. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ahiboilandgas: 4:08pm On Oct 31, 2018 |
feelamong:oil price doesn't go up ...mean more dollar to cbn. |

ahiboilandgas: If Oil price drops faster than envisaged....then CBN might have to trigger a rates rise earlier than we are projecting 1 Like |

tolajay: First problem. Did you call their investment house (FBN Quest)? Or first bank themselves? Some of this customer service operators don't know this things sometimes. Or it could be the person thought it was Fixed deposit fund instead of money market fund. If you go to the FBN quest site (not first bank), you should see the money market rates. Left for me, I use Stanbic IBTC. They are better at this things than FBN quest. I.e. I can add money easily from the app and withdraw my money easily too. 1 Like |

I see! That could just have been the error point. Please share the recent interest rate on your portfolio with Stanbic. Thanks GonFreecss1: |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by GonFreecss1: 6:52pm On Oct 31, 2018 |
tolajay: Currently, Stanbic Money market fund is at 11.55% per annum. The rate changes daily or weekly, depending on the distribution of the market instruments invested in, and the change in rates of those instruments. Since money market is low risk it focuses on low risk instruments like Treasury bills, Commercial papers, bankers acceptance etc. Treasury bills might have a sweeter rate, but I think Money market has an advantage over Tbills. 2 Likes |
