Atiku as Nigeria president?

Well, I can't blame Atiku. He must have looked at Nigerians and say: "If Nigerians can allow a lifeless, certificateless and incompetent fellow like Buhari, then they can allow anyone..."

We lowered our standards. Such a shame.

For those of us who don't know it already, here are 5 things to know about international lobbying in the US.

1) International lobbying is a legal activity in the US.

In fact, it's a solid part and parcel of the US politics. In any case, the US laws require international lobbyists to register their outfits prior to operation. The lobbyists are usually private entities and independent of public officials. This is why the Nairaland front page headline that screams that PDP hired "Trump's Lobbyist" is wrong, false and downright dumb.

2. At least, 135 countries from around the world have hired US lobbyists at one time

Countries like South Korea, Japan, China, etc have spent hundreds of millions of dollars in their US lobbying efforts in the last one year alone. A significant portion of this expenditure come directly from the government of those countries. In fact, the government of South Korea has spent over $3 million this year already, whilst its non-government entities have collectively spent over $7million.

3. The essence of this lobby is usually to influence the US foreign policy and engagements

So, as stated in the original thread, the PDP is trying to influence the US foreign policy and engagements and make it work towards ensuring the stronger stability of the Nigerian democracy and political process. If they'd also tow this path as government, we'd probably enjoy smoother and more favorable outcomes from the US foreign policy and engagements in the coming years.

4. An international lobbying firm is not the same thing as a campaign strategy firm

I saw people trying to compare this current PDP move to what the APC did in preparation for the 2015 election. These are two different things. For staters, by hiring Obama's former campaign consultant, APC was merely trying to help itself. But hiring a top US lobbying firm, the PDP is going the extra mile to help the entire nation. Please, kindly go back and read what the lobbying firm is supposed to do as stated in the news report.

5. INEC has already spent over $74,000 in US lobby efforts this year

Yes, it's not only the PDP that use the services of a US lobbying firm. INEC is also doing that.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hired Brian Ballard, a top US lobbyist, ahead of the 2019 elections.

The influential lobbyist has President Donald Trump as one of his clients. Politico Magazine, a top publication in the US, says Ballard is closer to the US president than perhaps any other lobbyist in town.

“He’s parlayed that relationship into a booming business helping clients get their way with the Trump administration — and his clients and even some of his rivals say his firm has a better grasp of what’s going on in the West Wing than almost anyone else,” the magazine said in a report.

“Ballard was one of the top fundraisers in the country for Trump’s campaign and continues to raise millions for his reelection campaign. Wiles, one of his top lieutenants, ran Trump’s campaign in Florida and delivered the nation’s biggest swing state to the president.”

Documents seen by TheCable showed that Nigeria’s main opposition party has agreed to pay $90,000 (N31.5m) to Ballard on a monthly basis throughout the duration of the contract.

TheCable understands that the contract which was signed on September 21, 2018 is for a year, meaning Ballard would rake in close to N400 million from the deal.

Ballard with Trump at a fundraising ceremony
“This contract is entered into between the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria (“the Client”), Plot l970 Michael Okpara Street, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, and Ballard Partners, Inc. (“the F irm”), 601 13th Street NW, Suite 450N, Washington, D. C. 20005,” the agreement read.

“This agreement shall automatically renew for successive one-year periods on the anniversary of the effective date of the agreement unless either party terminates the agreement. Upon renewal this agreement may be terminated within thirty (30) days written notice by either party.

“Duties of the firm. It shall be the Firm’s duty to consult with the Client and advocate on its behalf those issues the client deems necessary and appropriate before the US Federal government. Issues and objectives may include, but not be limited to, enhancement of US Nigerian relations; strengthening and advancing democratic values and the rule of law in Nigeria, with a special focus in the coming months on maintaining political and security conditions free of intimidation and interference in order to ensure the success and fairness of Nigeria’s national election for president in 2019. It shall further be the Firm’s duty to inform the Client of developments in legislation and policy relevant to the Client’s issues and objectives.

The master strategist
“It shall be the Client’s duty to provide the Firm the information necessary to best represent the Client. It shall also be the Client’s duty to timely compensate the Firm for its services.

“Compensation. The Firm shall receive from the Client $90,000 a month, payable in quarterly installments for this agreement, plus the reasonable costs associated with the representation, including but not limited to, necessary registration fees; and travel expenses.”

Osita Chidoka, a former minister of aviation, signed the contract on behalf of the PDP.

This report comes two weeks after Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the party, led PDP stalwarts to Dubai for a strategy meeting.

These Dubai strategists shows they want to totally mortgage Nigeria away. People with evil and corrupt pasts with nothing to their name except money, no invention, no innovation, no achievement only fluke of opportunity and make believe. Nigerians vote for these Atikulooters at your own peril. Snakes are solitary animals but when you see them come together it is not because of mutuality but for exclusivity of individual benefit. Quote this any where if you love the truth.

I have warned people around me not to have anything to do with any buharideen. They possess ALL the evil traits of the god they worship in Aso Rock. Liars , deceptive, hatred, fraud, hypocrisy, evil, bloodthirstyness etc.

Every single one of the buharideen here witnessed when APC hired Ploufe and Axelrod, the guys that won the White House for Obama. They clapped then as they all ate from the stolen money that Tinubu and Amaechi released to put this demonic Aso Rock.

Now they are shouting loud because PDP have done the very same thing they did in 2014.

We will be free of them all in a few months by the Grace of God

The zombies are those who equate their immediate family to the entirety of Nigerians.

The zombies are those who screamed they want out of Nigeria just yesterday only to start licking the crouch of a presidential candidate with relish today.

The zombies are those struggling to survive with N-Power stipend yet praising a crook for paying a foreigner, over 30million naira monthly for doing a job the same zombies claimed to have completely exhausted.

I don't know how true is this report but news from "the cable" appears to be authentic most times.

Back to topic, I told someone that PMB is a colossal failure but Atiku is not only a serial loot but a hardened criminal. His desperation stinks and clearly shows what he aims to achieve by looting the nation's wealth to nothing.

In short, majority of these wicked politicians deserve to die. The poor masses are begging for paltry minimum wage of 30,000 but these idiots choose to settle for 20k when neighbouring countries earn up to 40k and to mention not being part of OPEC body should be a huge slap on our government.

The looting ongoing in APC/PDP can't be phantom. I wonder what will be left for future generation when oil becomes useless. I even read it somewhere that the current NNPC boss failed to remit 91 trillion not even billion to FG account since 2016. What a shame!

Imagine paying someone USD 90k per month for the wicked ATIKULOOT to manoeuvre his way to power and somehow get pardoned by the US team to clear his charges.

I really don't pity these politicians but the stvpid Nigerian youths and shameful elders shouting Sai Baba and Atikuobi. Am done telling people neither PMB/ATIKU can fix the economy but trust some people will say let's settle for the lesser evil. Na una sabi. I can't wait to leave this country. Am done believing there is hope here.
You would have made a lot of sense but you didn't balance this submission. You blamed all the parties concerned and never provided or suggested a way out but only your plan of leaving the country. Your last line and submission is worst than Aisha Buhari's plan for this country.
