daveP: It will even be more difficult collating if a person nominates 5 or 7 monikers. Guess what, the collation of nomination is up to date as we speak and I can even release the list of committee members 1 minute after the close of deadline. So no worries bro. , this system is working just fine. |

Oga mi, I think you guys totally 100% misunderstand my post. I wasn't tryna put anyone down or call anybody a mediocre. gosh, I don't even know the folks who have been nominated sef. I might check them out over the weekend but I haven't had time to check yet. Anyway, I was just making a generalized statement ... a general assumption, if you will, that we might end up with square pegs in round holes if we throw the nomination open, as an all comers affair. If you come down to it, I am NOT asking to be nominated. And if nominated, I might not even have the time to be effective in the committee due to the pressure on my time right now. However, I was just pointing out the need to have the right people in that committee. Not to sound conceited or anything but some of us have played this game to a very decent level. Some of us have the right connections and contacts in high and low places, both at home and abroad (a la Tbaba1234 and Joebie). Some of us have followed this game and even coached this game long enough to understand the game (a la Icon4s etc.). That's what's driving my recommendation. My intention was never to put anybody down or for a shameless self promotion. Having said that, I formally withdraw my name from the nomination, but let's give the other 5 candidates a very good consideration. Those are just thoughts but I would implore y'all to give those thoughts a very good consideration if we want to achieve our aim of forming this committee. There's a saying in my village that na "ora adighi atu ero". Even in the Bible, when they were about to replace Judas Iscariot, they established some standards/qualifications for the ideal candidates. They didn't threw the whole thing open for all comers. Just thoughts .... O pari Icon4s: |

Icon79: Lol... In as much as I strongly disagree with your position, I also have to comment that you are also exhibiting a very Nigerian trait in this your comment bro. The ownership trait, the reason why most Nigerian organizations don't grow past people that feel a sense of ownership in the organization, there was a time the names you mentioned were the main participants on this thread, including basco, forgiveness and the man always championing English based players(which were the ones that often disagreed with you, with Mr Basco the most qualified to pick the Nigeria based players but you discounted them. Lol). You picked the guys that most often interacted positively with you, sort of like a tribe. So bros pick the dirt in your eyes before pointing out the dirt in our "mediocre" eyes Mr Excellent. 9 Likes |

I think Icon79 the O pari master has a point. This might sound a bit harsh but the truth is that there are some of us here who are more experienced, exposed and able in the field of football analysis than the others. No disrespect to anybody please. I think our focus should be on getting the best rather than the most popular or crowd's favorite. I therefore suggest Oga Icon4s, as the visionary behind this project and a well respected person on this forum picks THE BEST 5 or 7 persons from the top 15 nominees. This way we ensure that we get the best brains as well as show respect for our democratic process. My ten Kobo. 1 Like |

Icon79: Firstly, I still insist you owe this house an apology. We are no kids here. I don't think anyone is less than 18 and so we are all full grown adults and should always treat each other with respect. I never expected some of those words to be emanating from a respected member like u. That said. This nomination system may not be perfect, but I can tell you that most of the nominations were done with objectivity. I have observed the nomination pattern and done collation up to the last nomination done here. The leading 7 nominees are well grounded and have what it takes to deliver the goods. Trust me in this. So just relax and participate bro. We are still expecting ur nomination. 4 Likes |

Oga icon, you know that I have enormous respect for you, right? I have always seen you as one of the most knowledgeable and mature member of the forum. But why do you insist that I apologize when I haven't personally attacked anyone? My entire post was just to warn us about making this a popularity contest because that might breed nepotism and all what not. Granted that I used the world "mediocrity" but that was not directed toward anyone in particular. It was just another way of saying that I would like us to select the BEST people. Again, I think you guys totally misunderstood the essence of my post. O pari Icon4s: |

ykalhaji: Hmm. I get ur point. But the thing is most of those here that I know reside in North America have nominated already. And we have observed that rate of nomination has slowed down drastically that no new nomination has been made in the last maybe 10hrs or so which necessitated the deadline placed for tomorrow 6pm. Well, 6pm Nig time translates to 9am,10, 11, 12noon or 1pm in North America, depending on which time zone u are located. If we continue to get new nominations up till 3pm tomorrow we may extend the deadline to 9pm tomorrow else we leave it at 6pm tomorrow. 1 Like |

Icon79: Everything is wrong with the Post bro, and I do not understand why it seems hard for you to apologise on a Faceless Forum! I advise you check the List you made and tell me if it's not mirroring Nepotism?! You do not want certain Monikers in the Committee, and from your Observation so far, they are getting more Votes than you ever envisage. You stylishly campaigned for Nomination, you are ignored and rejected, thus you want us to get rid of a democratic System for an autocratic System?! Oga...... Do the needful and tender unreserved Apology without an iota of Reservation, and Forgiveness shall be bestowed on you by all and sundry. O Pari! 8 Likes |

Icon79: Icon79, this is not a popularity contest. As I said before majority of us nominated objectively and this is already reflecting on the results. There is hardly any perfect system and remember this is our first time of organizing such an event. I expected hitches and objections here and there anyways. But the fact is the nominations have been going quite well. On the apology issue, let ur conscious be the judge. 6 Likes 1 Share |
