It has been a very pleasant day for me here after checking street map of my accommodation in London South East. Please what are the necessary food stuff to take along ? I want to venture into hair stylist and importation/exportation business while studying over there, isn't it a bad idea? I can't stop dreaming of my first night at London... indeed life is so beautiful but not in Nigeria sha embarassed.

Be careful, what you were granted is a student visa and not a business visa. Someone has been deported cos she travelled with hair extensions hoping to use same for hair braiding business while she studied.

You can do all you want to do in the UK as long as it is within the law and doesn't go against your visa guideline.
Easy on the food though, bring more Nigerian ish than food you can easily get here (and at a good price)..

@bolded, First night in London..Lol. After 1 week, You will find out, but it is far better than Naija!!
thank you bro. I will try as much as possible not to violate my visa guidelines

If I’m correct you are coming on a student’s visa, meaning you can’t do full time work and can only work about 20 hours a week. So unless you are planning to do it under th books I’m not sure you are allowed to legally do business
Ohkay. I am coming on student visa and my MSc is a year plus 3 months so I wont be allowed to do side business. That is very serious o

Forget that importation/exportation and focus on the stylist business. I have a friend that's a student in Bristol, apart from the 20 hrs work, she is a hair stylist but collects only cash
Oh, that's wonderful, I will focus more on the hair stylist and forget about the other business. Please what is your view concerning home tutoring?. I am a Physics Educationist and I can confidently teach both mathematics and Physics

Hi fam

I m back here.

Please, someone should review living in coventry and essex for a family of 4. Hubby is a doctor and he got an interview in essex n coventry. I m a programmer but looking at a career in software testing in UK. Doing ST training already and preparing for my certification.

We have 2 kids under 3 and looking for a very affordable location that ll have good schools and nurseries as well as where there ll be job opportunities for me
.

Someone suggested we look at the north west.

What are the things we should put into consideration as we search for job.

How much is average 2 bed apartment in these areas.

Kindly advice us please.

I prefer dealing directly with landlord than through an agent and it works for me.

You can also use Facebook for house hunting

As per the business aspect, it would be advisable to get familiar with the terms of your visa, especially considering that you're getting into the UK for the first time (I suppose).
Don't carry too much hair extensions or wigs cos if immigration nabs you, you could be put on the next flight back to naija and banned for up to 5yrs.

As per home tutoring, I would also advise you get in first, understand your environment and how the British ppl behave. It's very different from naija. Perhaps you could start with naija ppl around you, put in a word of mouth and take it up from there.

As per being a member of TRCN etc, I don't know if they're recognized by or affiliated to the UK equivalent, cos that would go a long way. Like I said, get in first and understand the system.

London is fun (and costly too) but you would quickly find your feet as we're a family here.
