Next thing Omanbala will become a tribe and adopt the Omanbala consciousness. Trace their roots to Nri and claim distinct ethnic group because of this superiority complex. They don't want to be detached from the Anambra state yet expect Ikwerre, Ndoki or Anioma to detach from Rivers state or Delta states.

Clever by half. grin

Shame on them. Seems those people clamouring Igbos are disunited did a logical research. grin

I'm surprised they dont see the similarity between their Omambala agenda share with those of Igboids in Rivers state and Delta.
It's shocking. A kind of cognitive dissonance I must say.

All those who promote that Omambala consciousness must know that they have lost the moral ground to castigate those who promote Anioma, Ikwerre, etc agenda.
Those are artificial agendas and are all fallouts of Gowon and British divisions.

Thank you.

Imagine a Biafra that lacks patriotism. Where every clan or state is patriotic to herself only and not to the Biafran coat of arms.

Americans can die for their country, patriotic to the core. But here we have Omambala man threatening and swearing not to be pulled out of his artificial home because of some Omambala consciousness whereas you are a Biafran at heart and every other thing is secondary.

Patriotism may be dead before the new country is birthed.

Talk of a still born LOL grin

Lol are you people not known across igbo land to have superiority complex?

Imagine another member of your state saying on this same thread few hours ago( I can find his post), that no Anambra indigene wants to marry outside of the state.

Are other people of lower species?
Everyone to his belief, you don't ascribe someone else's stance to an entire group.
We don't believe in any superiority complex thing and you know this has been discussed here several times but you guys go on bringing it up.
We are all Igbos in consciousness and mind , be you from any part of Nigeria where we have indigenous Igbos, we are one and same and nobody is superior to any.

You are saying that no part of Anambra should be added to any part of Igboland to create a new state, because you have grown an emotionally artificial Omambala consciousness. In the same vein, the Anioma man is saying that he doesn't want to be joined to Ndiigbo and SE, because he has acquired an artificial Anioma consciousness and now part of Niger Delta that is indivisible.
Just as you accuse other Igbos trying to create states by uniting with parts of Anambra, of being land grabbers, so do Anioma and Igboids in Rivers accuse you of land grabbing for trying to reach out and make them part of your region by taking them out of SS.

You say it's not the same. But I'm telling you it's exactly the same.
And this line of thought, can only be destructive to overall Igbo unity.

You are right.
I remember they were busy singing Yoruba songs like "Omoge mi" and "Gbedu".
They wanted to be Yoruba so bad to fit into the then overwhelmingly Yorubanized Nigerian music industry.
But it backfired, as they were snubbed of awards they felt they merited, and they started crying of how the industry has been tribalized by Yorubas. Perhaps that was when they started remembering their Igbo roots, as people like Nigga raw, Desperate chicks, Dekumzy, Slow dog, flavour, were already bringing Igbo language to the Nigerian music mainstream.

But damn, Ifunanya and Onyinye were Big hits.

The avoidance of Igbo made them not to know Ifunanya was a bomb and the hit track for one of the albums.
Who would believe they would wear isiagu in their lives till that 'nobody ugly ' song.
Even Black face from Benue was able to sing 'Erinma '. Timaya could sing 'Ogologo mma agha ', all before 2008 and they aren't even Igbos.

In all we do, let's not forget to thank Nigger Raw, Slow Dogg, Dekumzy, Flavour, even Desperate Chicks . They are the ones who did the dirty jobs and risked their business fortunes to introduce Igbo to the world via pop music when Igbo pop music wasn't a thing.
Now, Phyno and Zoro have a smooth ground to play around . Not forgetting Illbliss and Wizboy.
Today, anyone can actually sing in Igbo and it will oversell if well marketed . In fada fada, Olamide sang some lines in Igbo too. It was never like that.
The one that shot himself in the foot is Humblesmith who allowed his good song to be trashed by Davido with his childish antics and lyrics. The song became irrelevant after the Momodu saga ended. I warned against that.

But if you ask me to give that lifetime achievement award of Igbo contemporary music , I will be confused.
Flavour is unopposed for the singing part. He has stopped being vulgar too. Wonderful combination.
For rap, it will be a tie between Mr Raw and Phyno.
Raw introduced it and made us know it's possible, but Phyno is so smooth in flow that it became popular. I also don't like that Phyno doesn't rap as such again. Or maybe I am not current . Zoro has richer rap lyrics than Phyno these days...
Igbo music has come a long way.

Well, I will never be in support of acceptance of Nigerian created entities like states, as identity by Igbo groups.

This is exactly why we are having problems in Egbema Rivers now, as a minority part of them now claim "Rivers men" and no longer Igbos. You can imagine.
It's from that same mentality of embracing Nigerian artificial creations, that we have Identity crisis in Igboid areas.

I remember in the 1980s, there was a dichotomy in Igboland then, with palpable division between the Imo and Anambra divisions.
The statement " Anambra n'Imo bu umu Nne" was a mantra those who sought to difuse the tension that was building up were using.
Funny that immediately they created Enugu state, the Enugu man immediately assumed his Enugu new identity and started seeing same Anambra he was part of not long ago as his problem.
Ebonyi people who were part of Enugu was involved in this too. And then Ebonyi was created, Ebonyi people started seeing Enugu people as problems who cornered everthing and left them with nothing, they quickly became Ndi Ebonyi, they even have Ebonyistate anthem today.
They have changed identity from Anambra to Enugu to Ebonyi in a space of 30yrs or so. grin And in each case, they strongly embrace those artificial identities. grin
This is madness, if you ask me.

Yet we all mock those who had transited from Western Igbos, to Mid west Ibos, to Bendel Igbos, to Delta Igbos and today to the names of their LGAs as their identities. Isn't it ironic?
This example indicates that people, by and large, identify primarily with their state or boundaries in which they find themselves in and that if Egbema Rivers and Etche were to be readjusted into Imo state and Obigbo into Abia state, within 30 years, give or take, these people would be proudly Igbo like other Igbos.

They are not being claimed, they are one people.
You can as well do reverse claiming if you wish.
For example, we can claim Asaba (Nteje), Ogwashiukwu (Nri), Obomkpa (Nri), Ibusa (Isu Nnewi South).
We can claim Nsukka (Nri, called Nshi in those parts ), We can claim the entire Isu clans in Imo and Abia by claiming that we have Isus who are autochthomous in Anambra South.
We can claim Ibaji Kogi people .

The list is endless.
But you cant do this, since you had created an illusion of a monolithic Anambra with a mono culture in your head. You see an Ihiala man as a brother because Gowon drew a line there, but can't think beyond Gowon lines, to see that the Ihiala man you hold unto, is also attached to another by culture and language.

You are just being unnecessarily fearful. Holding too firm to artificial creations of Nigeria called states, without understanding the pre colonial kinship amongst groups in Igboland.

I don't see Urata people in Imo crying about losing Okigwe , Ideato etc to a new state. Because they know they are not actually kin with those people.
I don't see Ezza people crying over Afikpo plans to join the new state, because they know that Ebonyi is an artificial creation.
I don't see Nkanu people crying over the plans of Nsukka people to form Adada state.
All these groups understand the pre colonial arrangement of Igboland better and they understand the purpose of state creations.
Pazienza. I marvel at the intelligence oozing out from your comment as against empty chest beating by other anambras. This new madness of anambra monolithic identity must be nipped in the bud. The Nri issue which some are using to promote anambra supremacy is even ridiculously because Nri has ties with towns outside anambra than its neighboring towns in anambra state. Nsukka is an offshoot of Nri with further connections with Idah

Phyno is still the king of Igbo rap no two ways about it. Zoro still has a long way to go. But it still surprises me that you guys didn't even mention pacesetters like Wene Mighty. Despite singing most times in Ikwerre, Duncan Mighty has also helped push the Igbo language to national relevance in the music industry. His collaboration with Nigga raw in his first album as well as hit songs like 'Ako n Uche', Obianuju, Ijeoma, Ahamefule and so on helped revived Igbo lyrics nationwide. Even till now, Duncan still promotes Igbo language and culture, and should come fourth after Raw, Phyno and Flavor in the all time legends of Igbo Hip Hop.

Wene mighty use central Igbo mixed with his Ikwerre dialect in his songs, but Ikwerre wahala is too much, not worth the headache when we have enough A list Igbo musicians to talk about.

Lol! There is nothing like Anambra dialect. I was in Amesi n Aguata for an event yesterday.
The language sounded funny. I swear, I thought I was in Imo state. angry
If a man from that part of Aguata comes to Ilo ngwodo, Nkwo ezi udo, Afor Igwe or Ogbe otu and start speaking that their language, my people will call him "Onye Imo".

They were speaking conc Isu language there as indigenous language.
I wanted to interview the people more about their origin, but I ran out of time.

Yes! Idemili/Njikoka/Anaocha/Dunukofia/Oyi dialect cluster is the quintessential language people ignorantly call "Anambra language".
It's the lightest form of Igbo language, it's not nasalized at all, and it avoids harsh diphthongs like "sh" sounds like mad.
It's exotic and sweet to the ear. It loves simplicity and strives to keep things simple.

For example. Nwabunwanne becomes "Nwaa'nne", notice how "bu" was removed. Chibuzo becomes "Chi'uzo", m mafu ama gi ula becomes " m mafu ama 'I ula". Notice the omission of letter "g".

Every unbiased Igbo knows deep inside that this dialectical cluster found in Anambra is the sweetest, lightest and easiest to understand of all Igbo dialects.

Aguata is another "Imoid" LGA in anambra just like ihiala. The term "anambra dialect" is another fraudulent claim. That lightest igbo version found in that language cluster in anambra is not spoken all over the state. The five LGAs you mentioned has no unifying name due to lack of large gruopings in the state otherwise it would have been difficult to fraudulently call it anambra dialect. It was adopted as " pidgin igbo" for informal purposes because of it's simplicity. While the heavy igbo version from imo/abia axis standardized into igbo izugbe for official use

Sir pazienza, God bless you. You just made my day, how can a wise Igbo hold on to artificial state creation.

Those states or whatever are the reason IGBO UNITY seems almost impossible, you see Igbos bragging how 'Anambra people are ritualist' 'Enugu people are wawans' 'Ebonyi people are not Igbos' bla bla bla. Stereotyping themselves all in the name of states, what nonsense!

Even most Igbo elders buy this nonsense, my boss and relative think Anambra people (Ndi Abelu) are far more rich, responsible etc. According to him, "someone from Enugu has better chances and opportunity (jobs, food etc) than one from Anambra."

States are artificial including the ethnic group Igbo.

But the good thing is that the Nnewi/Ekwusigo/Ihiala on one hand and the Orumba/Aguata on another hand do not share such myopia, because they are more connected in dialect, geography and heritage with northern Imo. The Onitsha group too seems ready to reunite with the Anioma's and do not connect with Omanbala. But yet, these folks keep pushing this supremacy nonsense of an Omanbala and as well try to change Igbo origin to Nri, trying to push for an end to Igbo Izugbe, and also cunningly trying to make every path of Igboland inferior to Eri/Nri and it's Omanbala myths. But that agenda is already Dead On Arrival! Igbo unity will outlive all the divisive agents in our midst.
